Beautifully decorated room, everything in there that I needed. Plentiful parking, room provisions restocked daily. Kept very clean. Superbly comfortable bed too. Brilliant all round.
Wentworth House is good value for money, especially the 3 people rooms. The rooms are comfortable, whilst not being luxury accommodation, and we always enjoy the hot tub and hot freshly cooked breakfasts. The manager is always ready to help, booking us taxis and helping us when the room door got stuck!
The friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast & breakfast room. The car parking.
The décor is dated. The water pressure was too low to allow the shower to work & the bath needed a long time to fill. The bathroom extractor did not work. For a superior room the 'view' of the outhouses was bad and the condition of the room was tired and needed some TLC.
bed was comfortable
Unclean Toilet cobwebs broken chair Odd smell Fridge dirty
the view from the bathroom
no shower wonkey toilet seat noview from bed room window allyou could see is a tieled roof no pool that year poor value for money
Nice staff and good location.
The cooked breakfast could have been larger, however the cold selection was excellent.
It was an easy downhill walk to the city and a convenient bus back up. The breakfasts were well cooked and presented, very promptly served and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well.
Our room was a little shabby and lacked a good light to read by in the sitting area. Some things need replacing like the little kettle which has a broken lid. There was really nowhere to hang damp towels apart from over the shower rail, not sure what solution is though since the en suite was very small - another towel rail maybe?
no eveining meal poor car parking, too many stairs
the room was quite small and the hot water was not always immediate
Staff were very friendly and helpful
bathroom was dated and shower was slow
Breakfast was good. Staff friendly.
Shower pressure was very poor. Room was very "tired"and decor very dated.
Location - quiet but within walking distance of Bath. Room was clean and serviced. Good service at breakfast time, we had an appointment so the proprietor made sure that we had breakfast quickly and ordered us a taxi.
Still seems a little expensive but this is Bath. Shower was a bit weak.
Staff were friendly, room clean and breakfast excellent, parking not an issue and a nice walk into the town centre and on the bus route if required
Decor was a little bit dated and no remote control for the television
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was very tasty especially the bacon and sausages. Views fantastic. Toilet and shower clean.
Our room was rather dirty. A grape behind the towel rail in the bathroom! Drinks had been spilled on skirting boards and carpet making it sticky. Dust on pictures and wardrobe. Paint peeling off walls. Mould on windowsills. Pool out of use, black (children were really looking forward to a swim)! Carpet hadn't been vacuumed. Double bed felt like it was about to fall apart. Shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold. Scrambled eggs were tasteless and watery.
The location and staff.
The small room and high cost.
On arrival the receptionist was very pleasant and showed us to our room (number 20) situated at the back of the house. Our room was lovely, with a four poster bed and a large bathroom with bath and shower over. We were not disturbed by any outside noise from any other guest room or road noise. The bedroom window overlooked the pool area. Clean towels were provided and toiletries by way of dispensers in the bathroom together with tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The location was ok if you like a walk to town. A short walk down the road there is a pub called The Bear Hotel, which serves drinks and food, an Indian restaurant/takeaway and also a pizza takeaway and a Coop convenience store. The hotel breakfast was a full English, cereals, fruit, muffins, toast, jams and yogurt, so overall a good selection of foods to choose from and juices and tea, coffee etc. We went to the Devonshire Arms pub just a short walk away on Wellsway and the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly so we would recommend this one. We had the pie and mash, peas and gravy at £8 each... bargain! A taxi from town to the hotel was cheap only about £6. Enjoy your stay.
The room was lovely apart from the wooden header of the four poster was not dusted. Wifi is only available in public areas of the hotel. It would be nice to have free wifi in the rooms. The website states there is a swimming pool, however the pool and pool area are in a state of disrepair and it doesn't appear to have been in use for some time. The pool is covered and the cover is anchored to the ground with large hooks which could cause a tripping hazard. The pool is not cordoned off to stop people from falling in accidentally. The slabs around the pool are in a poor condition and also could cause a trip hazard. There is a broken slab on the step down to the pool, again, a trip hazard as the debris has not been cleared away. The outside furniture is shabby with a broken chair and chewing gum over the other items. There is a shabby unusable pagoda on the grass. During our 3 night stay in August 2014 the only meal we could get was breakfast. There was no lunchtime or evening menu available as they had no chef at the time to accommodate this. The walk to the town was a 20 minute walk, which included walking down a very steep hill and then through a very shabby and dodgy looking underpass that looked disgusting. I would not want to walk through this area at night. In turn the return walk is up the very steep hill and it is hard work. To get a bus the short distance to town costs approximately £2.20 each.
Very tired shower riser broken and room really small
Good location away from the hustle and bustle but within walking distance of everything.
Rooms old and dated.
Manager was polite and obliging.
Pool was closed (seems to be a recurring theme according to other reviews) A bit dated and of a type but it was relatively cheap and was billed as a 2 star. More of a guest house than hotel. The problem is, these type of hotels are now up against cheap Travel Lodges and Premier Inns which do the basics well.
Size of family room
Hugely overpriced. I expect to pay £165 for luxury Pool out of use- looked like long term neglect VERY dated look
The staff were very friendly and the breakfast service was amazing. The dining room was very clean and tidy and a lot of options for breakfast. With some TLC this hotel/ b&b would be good.
The hotel needs some TLC, this really let our stay down, net curtains had holes in, chest of draws so close to the end of the bed that you had to turn sideways to get past, bathroom needs an overall and the patio door was broken at the bottom making it hard to open and close, bed was so soft it was like sleeping on marshmallows.
The apartment in back was large. However, was charged an additional fee for extra sheets. Also chose because next to pool but pool was closed and looked to be closed for some time.
Photos of the rooms and building were of old stock. We didn't get what we initially saw in the photos. Not the country B&B we were expecting. Pool closed. Paid too much for what we got. Hotel had rundown feeling to it but manager nice. Had to pay extra for linens even in apartment rental in back
Very dated The bathroom measures 30" x 60" if your more than a size 6 you won't get in the bathroom! Chef left so you couldn't get a meal Breakfast basic and 7:30-9 so no good for am early starter Couldn't get a coffee in the place It's the top of bath hill so a hike to anywhere your going Hot tub was closed despite people being in it..... Pool was closed day and night and full of green slime! Not the best only good thing I have to say is I could park my car the outside of the building was lovely and the bed was comfy This place needs ££ spending on it you could get better in bath at the same price
90% of everything
Value for money, good breakfast.
Once you got into your room you enjoyed a magnificent view.
room was not made up daily.(had to ask for it!) Shower across the corridor. dubious interior. narrow, steep, "breathtaking" staircase. There was a pool but not to be used… Rigid, not very friendly staff
