Good location, good size room, easy parking and access.Nice bathroom.
Bed was very uncomfortable with a non supporting mattress and breakfast was disappointing.
Staff were friendly, helpful, courteous and efficient. The hotel was clean and well cared for.
There wer three beds in the room, one was very creaky and neither of us would have been able to sleep on it.
I enjoyed my three days stay at the Wessex. The staff were helpful and friendly, I had a pleasant room and very comfortable bed. I did not eat at the hotel but the food looked very nice and well cooked. Very good value for money. I enjoyed my stay.
No complaints at all.
The hotel needs a lot of work doing to it. Even though the inside was nice for the price I didn't think it was worth what we paid
$poster bedroom - most expensive so thought it would be good - but it wasn't Smelled musty Generally dusty Peeling wallpaper Bed not made properly Just unpleasant to be in Bathroom also needs updating
Staff were excellent particularly the restaraunt team rooms were clean and spacious.
The staff at the reception was very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast and we even got packed lunches as we left for Stonehenge on Sunday morning. This hotel was only about 15 miles from Cheddar caves.
My partner and I were so disappointed with the standard of the hotel and the rooms that we left within 15 mins of arrival. The pictures of the hotel make it look much less tired than it actually is. Quite a depressing place, even more so considering we paid for 2 nights and stayed for just 15mins!
Its central and easy to find and has on site parking.
the tv remote did not work . staff informed twice still not working when I left.
Location was great. Breakfast was excellent and staff was great.
The website totally mis-sells the hotel. The wifi was my inky request. However, I was out in the top flow where you cannot get wifi I had no cold water and therefore could not shower. For 3 days I had to run a bath and allow it to cool before it could be used. Surely cold drinking water is a requirement for any room?
Felt that the matress on the bed was sloping . Not even and firm . But cant fault the staff or food.
The bed as mentioned above
excellent location,excellent customer service
Needs some updating
excellent friendly service. Evening meal was delivered within 15 mins of order. Breakfast was good and again delivered promptly. Nice room, very quiet.
Have no complaints about anything.
Head waitress very good. Food good value for money. Receptions Staff helpful.
Bed uncomfortable. T.V. did not work. Very noisy, could hear everything from out side. Very poor quality windows.
Breakfast was ok
Wi-fi was a farse. Of our 3 nights, the first 2 days it was basically unaccessable. Then the last day it was possible to connect, with probably the slowest connection on earth. What was most frustrating was that the receptionist did not really care about all this..he was always promising that 'It will be ok'!! And it never was!
We slept well and the staff was nice.
The rooms were somewhat dated and therefore dusty. We expected more of the breakfast, but the staff did their best.
Good breakfast. Luckily the receptionist opened the bar to serve us a nightcap, thank you!
Bar was closed by 10.30.
Bath was leaking onto the floor making it unsafe when getting out TV reception was very poor and limited channels
The Wessex is ideally situated for exploring this part of Somerset. We had 4 nights and used it as a base to visit Longleat Safari Park, Bath, Weston Super Mare and many of the little villages around Cheddar Gorge. Staff at the Hotel were very helpful
The Hotel looks very dated from the exterior but the rooms are modern and comfortable. One critisism was the lack of evening facilities but you can overcome this by a short walk down the street to the pubs of the village.
I liked the friendly atmosphere and the excellent hot chocolate! The location was just right for us.
There wasn't anything we did not like.
The Wessex is a satisfactory hotel if one needs to stay in Street and is probably the main one of any consequence. It adequately provides the services it purports to provide but does not obviously shine as compared with other hotels of the same cost elsewhere. Parking was good and it was within easy walking distance to much of the towns other facilities.
While adequate, the overall sense was that the property appears tired and a little run down. We chose not to eat dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was satisfactory but similarly no more than average. We were not too enthused by a hotel which demands full payment for the hotel rooms upon arrival even though they had (presumably) ensured that the credit card employed to secure the reservation was valid for the anticipated cost for the visit. Is their cash flow so bad as to need your money for an extra day beyond what would normally be the case?
Amazing location within 2 minutes walk from Russel Square Underground. Walking distance from Chinatown and Soho, British Museum etc. Excellent breakfast, very friendly personel, room amenities.
The small bathroom, quite old equipment, no wifi in rooms.
