Lovely welcoming rooms, great size, comfy bed.
tv very dated, cleanliness in the bathroom could have been better.
Location and value for money were good, and the menu selection was very good.
The mattress on the bed was not to the same standard as the rest of the hotel.
The hotel was positioned well for the town. Staff were very welcoming.
The Executive room should have had a king size bed.
A very comfortable hotel very good food and the staff were helpful and friendly
I arrived with my assistance dog - I had informed them. I was asked three times if I had informed them 'I had a dog'. The receptionist was clearly not happy. The room I booked was a 'superior' double room. At vast cost. The room we were given (109) was clearly not anywhere near as big or comfortable as the pictures on the site - it was very basic, and bed was not very big either. The bathroom was tiny and very awkwardly shaped. If this was 'superior' I hate to think what the normal rooms are like. At breakfast when I asked where we could sit, I was told we had to go to the lounge because of my dog. She has the same rights as a guide dog, and I was made to feel very awkward. I said I wanted to sit in the dining room. It was horrible. Every other person was welcomed and told they could sit anywhere.
Excellent service, breakfast great? Room clean
very comfortable bed very good staff good breakfast lounge area very good for relaxing
shower had only just enough water flow to be adequate
Friendly staff good location and free morning papers
Beds very uncomfortable and room was noisy with passing traffic all night
Excellent Stay no problems
The hotel is well situated and the breakfast good including a vegetarian option. Opposite an excellent Indian Restaurant and near many other eating and drinking places. I have to come here once a year at this time and will probably stay here again next time.
Car park was full when I arrived so had to go to a public one nearby and pay for the early morning. Wifi didn't really work at all although they were surprised by this and said they would check it out when imreorted it as I was leaving.
The rooms are well appointed. Excellent breakfast and good service.
Breakfast was hot...staff friendly
Had different room in hotel as one be for in court yard. Room we had very big but decor out off date and room 111 smelt damp Floor in room tilted and nothing stayed on bedside cabinets as floor was not level. Paint work peeling off walls. Bath leek when had shower and because floor not level water was making its way into bedroom. My opinion this room not worth what we paid next time will stick to court yard rooms.....
Staff very helpful Comfortable clean rooms excellent restaurant.
The Suit we stayed in was lovely!
wifi signal is a bit weak in places (it dose say this in the welcome pack).
Sited in the centre of Dorchester lots of things to see and do or just sit and watch. Excellent breakfast warm friendly staff, quiet room comfortable bed. Best value hotel I have used for a while. Will visit again when ever in Dorchester
Car park is small! I arrived late and still managed to park but it was a reverse out into a side street. Im sure if I asked the staff would have helped.
My boyfriend took me to dinner & proposed to me on one knee the night we stayed at the hotel, somehow Andrew let your staff know who then as we were were walking up the stairs the member of staff (Marie) said we'd booked a twin room. She ran off to get the keys & led us to a suite with four postef bed. It was truely magical......... x
Very good hotel for the price. Food was excellent quality and the rooms were very clean, spacious and had everything you would need. Made to feel very wlecome. Will be staying again.
Very limited parking. Restaurant staff were clearing my plate whilst my colleague was still eating, could of done with a bit more attention.
Old fashioned charm; Comfortable bed; Pleasant, helpful staff; Location in main street;
Poor bathroom - Room 102; Restaurant ambiance (or lack of it);
Staff were very friendly. Location was perfect. Food was loverly and very good price. Facilities were very good and was very clean. Could not fault.
They couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. My husband had an early hospital appointment, so we went out, came back, went out again: no hassle over payment or using the room & they were happy for us to leave the car until lunchtime or longer
The spa bath was enormous, hot and bubbly. The overall relaxed quietness of the stay in a friendly and well maintained hotel. Easy walk to the town.
The freesat didn't have good signal due to seagulls on the aerial! For us this meant we could completely chill out to some music as the radio was unaffected, but it could be irritating of you want TV with your stay.
We checked in at the Wessex Royale and mentioned it was our 27th Wedding Anniversary , to which they upgraded us to the Honeymoon Suite. During the whole time all the staff could not have been more helpful. The award winning breakfast through to the evening meals were of a very high standard. I would rate this almost perfect except for the limited parking spaces, which meant sometimes finding an alternative. Planning to go again very soon as the location is central to most of Dorsets attractions. Gary Wright, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.
There was nothing not to like about our stay at the Wessex Royale Dorchester
Good restaurant food but slightly overpriced. The included breakfast - buffet and cooked to order - was very good. Convenient location for main street attractions. Old character hotel but modern decor in room. There was no kettle in the room but this was promptly rectified. Pleasant staff.
Room hot as radiator thermostat not working. Room looked onto fire escape, but were there only 1 night. Car park tiny (only 11 spaces and awkward to get in and out of) and restrictions/payment on nearby streets/car parks.
