West House Country Hotel  

Staff were very friendly, the stay was very enjoyable with the hotel being clean and well looked after. The food was excellent but there could have been a little more quantity.

The price on the net was slightly misleading as the pictures on the net are only available at an extra cost, i.e. four poster bed. Was only advised when actually phoned the hotel to confirm the room.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant served good local food, and the shower in the room was great.

Curtain in the room were very thin, which isn't good for a light sleeper.

Lovely area, cosy, countryside, atmosphere, with the best, friendliest, kindest group of staff I have ever met.

All staff were excellent and attended to all needs. The food was spectacular. Will be visiting again on our next business trip. Would certainly recommend , especially as we were upgraded to a four poster, brill

shabby, tired decor and furniture (bathroom was good) - room was a bit cold and not particularly clean (hair grips on the floor, dead woodlice in my bed!) real milk available for tea would be great! Much more could be made of the Garden - such a lovely space, but nothing made of it. Breakfast wasn't great. I had welsh cooked - very basic, not asked about eggs, tea was horrible - I couldn't drink it (very weak and I think the milk was on the turn)

The food bed and garden

Attractive location near the old part of the town and a short drive or nice walk to the beach and coast path. The food (dinner) is good but be prepared not to necessarily have what is on the dinner menu. The chef when we were there was very accommodating though. The staff are friendly and helpful despite being variable in their professionalism. The room, b & b is good value for money for two people sharing. The view from our room was very pleasant with trees and view over the old town and you could just glimpse the sea in the distance.

It's not really a 'don't like' but things can be a bit hit and miss (adds variety). For example, the manager(?) had changed the room we were due to have before we arrived to what he considered to be a better room but failed to provide two sets of towels and soap. The style of breakfast seems to vary (based on a sample of two days!). The first day there were no napkins and my cooked breakfast could not be described as dainty and the coffee just appeared in a pot but the next day there were napkins and it was all more refined with coffee in a cafetiere. I think there is scope for more attention to detail, E.G. making sure that the sign in the car park is clean, otherwise it gives a slightly derelict air. This is really a wedding hotel as far as I can see and I would not be keen on having wedding magazines in the room if I was there for that purpose. How would someone feel if they were attending a wedding and saw all the latest fashions and ideas in the magazines? Might they feel they had missed out? I'm never entirely sure whether other types of guests are what the place wants. I presume that the weddings are the main stay of the business.

The room looked nothing like the online pictures. The furntiture is in serious need of refurbishment. The directly marquee outside our window meant the room lacked any natural light.

It was a quaint place with beautiful decor.

Beautiful setting. Friendly staff. Hotel was full of character, our bedroom was lovely. Food was very tasty.

People were smoking right outside the door as we walked in. And our room was right above the doorway so we could smell the smoke. Waited a while for the evening meal but it was enjoyable when it arrived.

staff could not do enough to help. I was asked if I wanted a coffee whilst I waited for my friends to pick me up. Staff were pleasant and helpfull comfortable big bed. food was excellent.

my room was a little dated with an artexted ceiling that has began to bow. I did look aroud the other rooms and they were beutifull. I had not paid for one of the rooms over looking the garden , I supose that is why my room was not 100% It was however, very comfortable.

Good location near Atlantic College (if you are family of a student at the College), friendly staff, easy walk into Llantwit Major, lots of parking, quiet location

Tiny room dominated by old furniture, bed was uncomfortable (needs a new mattress), bathroom not heated and very small, no hairdryer. Free wifi in the room was advertised but signal was very poor.

1st class ,ocation, staff efficient and very helpful and friendly

We stayed on one of the coldest nights of the winter and the bedroom was quite cold despite the radiatore being on all night

Plenty of free parking opposite. Free wi-fi. Lovely shower, not shower over bath. Close to town and lots of pubs. Simple but pleasant breakfast.

The restaurant was closed on a Thursday and despite ringing to say I would be late this was not mentioned. Only packets of crips were available very disappointing The power sockets in my room did not work, moved to another room not a great stay, have stayed here in the past but in my view the hotel looks very tired .

Nice building and good location for our needs

Room was small, no bedside table or lamp on one side so couldn't read, decor dated, bed very soft. Sign saying no food or drinks beyond this door doesn't tie in with modern travelling. There isn't always a night porter but that is something we would seldom use anyway, I appreciate it's difficult to spend money improving facilities in these difficult times but the room seemed expensive for what it was.

Very poor decor, shabby furnishings. Breakfast finished at 9.30 on a sunday. Would definitely not stay here again and would not recommend. Poor value for money.

Thought the entire hotel needed some tlc Breakfast was a little basic and not great quality eg the toast was the thinnest toast I have seen in years! The price of £75 per room was steep considering there were hardly any facilities and the rooms were very basic having to be at breakfast on a Sunday by 9.,30am is unreasonable should be at least 10.30am certainly on a Sunday.

the only down side to oour weekend was the room we stayed in was a little dull and tierd.in genral the hotel could do with a good face lift. But with this in mind i would stay here again.
