Nice friendly owners.... made you feel very welcome.... the house was beautifully appointed and in a lovely setting.... one of the best guest houses I've stayed in.... would recommend !!!
It rained all day....
The owners were very attentive and welcoming. A lovely, quiet and relaxing stay and great freshly cooked breakfast. Thank you.
GLYNN & DEE.WERE GREAT HOST&AND HOSTESS. PEACE&TRANQUILLITY ALL AROUND.VERY NICE.
The lounge made the place feel like a home. I lot of attention to small details.
There is nothing I didn't like about the place.
Location, close to Bowness via ferry, great for walking, two good pubs close by with good food.Great hosts who were really helpful and knowledgeable about the area.
Had our own bathroom but across the landing from the main staircase so not ensuite as such and not so private. Only a minor issue!
one of the best b&bs we have been to accommadation first class great food perfect hosts quiet location but close to windermere hawkshead and ambleside
A first class Country House set in idyllic surroundings with picturesque views & quiet surroundings. The breakfasts were superb & the accommodation spacious, spotless, homely & luxurious with a modern contemporary feel . We upgraded to a Junior Suite for a small additional charge & it was well worth the extra money. We were made most welcome by our hosts Glynn & Dee who were both very friendly & helpful & catered for our every need. Close to Hawkshead, Coniston & Windermere the West Vale was ideally located for visits to areas of interest yet far enough away from the more commercial centres of the Lake District. There were plenty of local walks & the quiet shores of Esthwaite were not too far away. The Cuckoo Brow Inn was no more than a 5 minute walk & served excellent food & good local ales. If you want a nice peaceful & relaxing holiday far from the madding crowd, The West Vale Country House is the place to stay. We will certainly be going back.
We could not fault The West Vale Country House. It was everything we wanted from our short stay in the beautiful Lake District
Very clean - very professional - excellent breakfast and Dinner - Great friendly people
Excelent public areas, good breakfast.
Bathroom across the landing, one bath robe that was not big enough, had to get fully dressed in the night to go to toilet or risk getting done for indecent exposer with the robe on !!!! Very. Small telly in room, uncomfortable bed.
Breakfast was wonderful. Bed was extremely comfortable.
Nothing. Would book again.
Location. Excellent hosts, who knew the area, what to see and where to eat.
We had a super weeks holiday staying at West Vale Country House. Beautifully furnished room which was very comfortable. Glyn and Dee could not have been more friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfasts with a massive choice. Fantastic location for touring the Lake district. Loved it all
Everything was great.
The views The breakfast The people
Very experienced hoteliers who know how to treat their customers.Excellent standards throughout with the exception of the two items reported here.
Mattress not comfortable. Information provided by your site indicated dinner available. This proved not to be the case as they stopped serving dinner in 2008 !
Lovely little added touches like a small glass of sherry on arrival and giving us some strawberries to go with the champagne we brought. Homemade lemon posset for breakfast and great advice on walks.
Everything about West Vale was spot on and exactly what we were looking for, a lovely quiet corner in the middle of the Lake District and our hosts were just as lovely.
It’s difficult to find fault, but they if they could perhaps have arrange the weather a little better as they seem to have sorted everything else.
Perfect location, great for Windermere and Coniston. The decor is excellent, cleanliness is very good (some dust on the skirting board behind the bed side cabinet.... I really am being picky but you do notice it when lying in bed!) Breakfast is tremendous... one of my top 3 breakfasts anywhere! Overall it really is very, very good and very very difficult to fault.
Booking.com doesn't make it clear that the standard room has a private bathroom, i.e. the bathroom while not shared is across the landing, so it's not ensuite. This is clear on the individual hotels website but not on the standard room description on booking.com
Close to all amenities
Dee and Glynn were very friendly, great choices at breakfast from cereal to full English. Comfy beds and pillows to die for!
Only 1 restaurant / pub within walking distance car needed to get a wider choice.
Fantastic little country house. Couldn't fault anything, cosy, clean, comfortable and in a beautiful setting . Hosts very friendly and welcoming . Breakfasts are lovely and keep you going whilst hiking in the hills.
Not been able to stay longer
corkage charge, not allowed to eat in room and too many notes re do's and don'ts felt like a child visiting a unfriendly venue
The owners are brilliant, nothing to much trouble. Breakfast was first class they always made time to speak to you about your day.
You have to book the day before at the local eating place. Then your day was restricted to get back on time,
Everything provided for an excellent weekend away. Peaceful enough to provide complete relaxation, but close enough to be very accessible. The owners have a real eye for attention to detail (without any fuss) so everything runs very smoothly! Were very helpful in arranging birthday celebrations as well (is not part of the hotel's duty - bit just demonstrated that "extra mile" approach.
A superb relaxing location with stunning views, lovely walks straight from the door including Beatrix Potter's home and an excellent pub restaurant just around the corner. The owners are so charming and served an excellent quality breakfast selection. The accommodation was faultless, sparkling fresh décor and furnishings, lovely feather pillows and a very welcome complimentary sherry which I enjoyed in the bath after a long hike.
