Westbourne Hotel - Guest House  

We were given a really nice big room with a four poster bed as it was a birthday weekend. There were plenty of drinks available in the mini bar and plenty of tea, coffee and milk available.

Noisy residents on second night spoilt our stay a little but overall would book again because of good location and very friendly welcome.

The bed was comfortable

Very poor welcome, my wife had to pay the bill before being given the room key. Not shown to room, just left to find our own way with our bags. Room was small and the en suite even smaller with a cloakroom type washbasin. We had to shuffle sideways to move beween the door and shower. Decor was generally tired, although scaffolding was up presumably to paint the front. Breakfast was not very good, cheap, "cereally" sausage and limited cold food. Toast was served although the staff counted out the butter portions. No filter coffee available at breakfast on our last day. Generally "off hand" attitude of staff and certainly not worth £110 per night. I'd rate this as a £50 a night boarding house.

I've stayed here a couple of times now, when I'm on business in Brighton. The location's great, 10 minutes' walk from the centre, 5 minutes from the sea, and right on a couple of useful bus routes. It's near some restaurants, and a corner shop which is open very, very late. The guest house itself is nice and quiet, the beds are comfortable, you have privacy and you don't get disturbed by other guests. Prices are pretty cheap in comparison to other places nearby. It's all you really need from a place to stay if you're out and about most of the time.

It's clean and comfortable but a little bit tired. It's a guest house not a hotel, so if you're expecting hotel standards you'll be disappointed (that's reflected in the price though). The wi-fi's never really worked for me. The neighbourhood is "colourful" - not in a way which ever feels dangerous or threatening, but you'll probably see people drinking in the street, for example.

Very handy location. All the basics were good. Shower was hot enough, breakfast was ok.

Breakfast wasn't mind-blowing, but it still wasn't too bad.

Hotel staff were very friendly.

The shower amenities from the prevoius guest were still in the shower which tells me it wasn't cleaned at all. The shower was in the carpetted bedroom, weird?!

When arriving at the hotel, a guest had to answer the door to let us in after waiting for a good couple of minutes. I didn't feel very welcomed by the hotel staff, unlike other Brighton hotels I've stayed in. We weren't even showed to our room and when arriving in our room we found it to be fairly basic and not at the best standard. In the night we were extremely cold and the bed was fairly uncomfortable. In the morning when we tried to shower we couldn't even get any hot water. Upon leaving the hotel we almost felt like we were shoved out of the door, we felt like they couldn't get rid of us quick enough.

Chambre très romantique, tout à fait propre et confortable. Plage accessible à pied en peu de temps. Un peu plus éloignée du centre ville mais toutefois le trajet reste faisable.

Il y aurait un reproche à faire sur la chambre : manque de double vitrage. Le bruit de la route peut être génant durant la nuit.
