Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, great food and wine, and an amazing location on the Isle of Mull, overlooking Tobermory Bay. Some rooms have wonderful sea views. At the Conservatory Bar you can dine on good food from local suppliers, and look out across the water. In the pretty village of Tobermory, the Western Isles Hotel has great sea views across Tobermory Harbour, the Sound of Mull and the distant Morvern Mountains. The hotel has changed ownership and now benefits from experienced private owners. Hotel Rooms: 28

Loved the ambiance. When we arrived it was raining very very hard and the welcoming roar of a open fire met us at reception. There was also an open fire in the Lounge. The room I had was beautifully warm. I loved the country feel to the place. We had a bar meal in the conservatory and again despite the deluge of rain felt warm and cossetted. The young man who served dinner and the young lady who served breakfast were both lovely, friendly people who also added to our experience. Enjoyed our meals there too. Next day it was beautiful and we were able to enjoy the wonderful view. Would definately stay here again. The only thing I felt was the lighting in my room. It had an alcove entrance and it could have done with more illumination. The hotel does have a questionaire for you to fill in as they are upgrading and they do like the guest to fill it in as they want as much feedback as possible to help them in their efforts.

Excellent location above the harbour giving suberb views of the local harbour. The food served is very good and the staff keep the hotel rooms and public areas clean and tidy. The hotel does need bringing into the 21st centuary and some investment is required to achieve this. Nonetheless we had a pleasant stay and the offers for staying this autumn look very good value for money.

Great staff, helpful and interesting. Food was excellent, everyone was accommodating. Super location within easy reach of the town. Traditional building with the comfort of staying in an historical place. Twin beds a little short for tall people (6' 2" plus), but this is minor.

The food and staff were excellent. I found the roomsrather dated, and in need of some decorating. Really wanted a bath but didn't have one. The room was also quite cold, would have preferred it warmer.

It is a romantic place, with magnificent views. If anything, it is even better in winter, when the weather can be cool but dry, and the open fire in the sitting room more welcoming. The food was quite delicious. The only criticism I would make was that placing two raspberries on top of the porridge is most un-Highland ! I thought it was a horrid idea! However, the haddock done in batter (on the dinner menu) was light and crisp and golden, and the various seafood dishes excellent. The staff were kind and helpful and friendly. The bedrooms are traditional, and don't have the latest in bathroom fittings, but that suits the general atmosphere. There are no lifts, so if you are getting on a bit, you should make sure that you're only one floor up. There can be nothing quite as conducive to calm as sitting over breakfast in the bay window which overlooks the bay and the Sound of Mull, Ardnamurchan and beyond. At least as long as they don't put those raspberries on your porridge!

The views over the harbour & bay from the bedrooms & dining room/s are wonderful. The staff were first class for friendlyness & the food was spot-on. .Rooms are a bit tired and could do with refurbishment, creaky floors start off funny but soon start to grate !

It's worth paying a little extra for a sea view room as the view is amazing! I had actually booked a garden view but decided to upgrade when we arrived. Fortunately they had a spare sea view room & gave us it for the price of a harbour view room (£125 instead of £145). Breakfast was very good too. Possibly the best haggis & black pudding I've had in a hotel. The decor throughout is relatively basic & in need of refreshing. There can be no doubt that what you are paying for is the view & location. Nonetheless, our room was a good size & comfortable enough.

Seeing the isle of mull. One thing we were dissatisfied in is that we were charged more for our room than I booked it for on bookingsCom. They had no explaintion for this.

The location is stunning and the proximity to Tobermorie is excellent. For a relaxing holiday in very special surroundings, both hotel and countryside, it is hard to beat.

The bathrrom had no shower facility, but only a makeshift mixer shower head which meant you had to sit in bath to have a shower. Not good for the modern hotel I think. If even an overbath mixer shower was in place with shower curtain this would have been fine. Next tiem I would request a room with a shower!

When we arrived we were given a nice room with a reasonable view. When a problem later emerged with the plumbing we were upgraded to an extremely nice room with a fantastic view. The hotel is in a prominent position in Tobermory - on top of the hill overlooking the harbour. Parking was easy. It was a steep but quite short walk down to the harbour.

The staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent. The hotel is in need of some refurbishment however this is happenning around the end of September. The hotel was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel does lie half way up a steep hill which may make it difficult for those with a mobility problem unless they have transport to take them. The views from the hotel are magnificent and probablly the best in Tobermory. The only slight downside to the hotel was the need for refurbishment of walls etc, this did not however cause any problems with our stay

The staff and the food at the hotel were excellent. A very friendly welcome and always helpful staff. The food was first class, lots of local products, and the beautiful view from the hotel over Tobermorey harbour added greatly to the experience. The new owners have recently taken over and the hotel is in need of investment/refurbishment, which we understand is planned over the next year or so.
