Beautiful location overlooking sea with lovely views from restaurants and some bedrooms. In desperate need of refurbishment , especially bedrooms/bathrooms. No shower in our bathroom. Could be a superb hotel but would need a lot of money spent on it. |

The hotel is located on top of a hill with extensive views over the harbour. Loved a big fireplace in the reception. Lounges looked cosy but did not use them. Room rather small, OK for one night. The new management is undertaking gradual redecoration of the hotel. I did not like the olive green bathroom suite, but it was clean. Hope this will go when the turn comes to this room. |

The views from the hotel really are wonderful. The staff were excellent, very friendly and accommodating and professional. The breakfast is delicious and we ate one evening in the restaurant and enjoyed a lovely meal in nice relaxed atmosphere. The communal areas are lovely and set up nicely for guests to enjoy post dinner chat over a dram. While the hotel is undergoing some minor upgrading at the moment we were aware of this before arrival and so did not affect our experience or enjoyment of the hotel one bit. |

We liked the attentative staff, they couldn't do enough for us, very friendly and helpful. We had fantastic views from our room, which were breathtaking. We had stayed at many hotels around Scotland and this is by far the best, we would highly recommend it. The hotel has retained its character whilst offering modern amenities. Our room was well equipped,had lots of space and superb views. The hotel is undergoing some refurbishment but this does not intrude on guests.We would abosulutely recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning in the future. |

Staff excellent and friendly. Excellent location looking over village and out to sea Very old building and looks tired inside. Room was only fair with damp around window. Bathroom scruffy. No lift and was on 3rd floor |

Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view. A smile doesn't hurt! Both checking in and checking out could have been far friendlier and left us with a better feeling about the place. |

Scenery and food was lovely. The room was not what was booked, we had to wait nearly two hours after check in to get a room with what we had requested. Hotel had the appearance of a retirement home, not what is advertsied or matching the price charged, very disappointed. |

The view of the harbor from the suite is breathtaking! and very comfortable and big bed (large enough for 2 adults and a child!) The bathroom and bathtub is in serious need of renovation, and wall paper coming off the wall in the bedroom, humidity stains etc ... Moreover, unexpected change of room for an additional room we had booked for a single person: we had booked a single but ended up in a double without asking (and paying the price of the double room). |

we liked the location we found the staff very helpful the room we stayed in for the first and second nights was lovely as we had asked for an upgrade but unfortunately we had to move back to our original booked room on the third night and it was looking over the car park .but we know now to book a room with a sea view when we go again the only thing is the decor is looking in need of redecoration but i am sure richard the owner will get around to it as he has only been there a short while and he works very hard he seems to be everywhere at all times day or night |

Great staff. Faded grandeur. Open fire. Good food. Wonderful position. Management making efforts to update an old but charming building. One or two details not attended to. e.g. beautiful chintz curtains but hanging off rail, great bathroom but driven out by extremely noisy fan. |

Bed sheets were lovely & comfy! Breakfast was like pig swill, undercooked, mass-produced slop. Rooms are in severe need of redecoration, with wallpaper hanging off wall in one of our rooms and one room stinking of damp. One room also suffered from a strong smell of paint, as there were ongoing redecoration works taking place in the corridor. |

The hotel was excellent. Very friendly and relaxing. The food was great. It was our first time on the isle and when we go back i wouldn't stay anywhere else. could not fault the hotel in any way. |
