Western Isles Hotel  

Uno splendido vecchio albergo , con una bellissima vista sul mare. Staff molto cortese e cibo buono . camera ampia e bene arredata.Purtroppo abbiamo pernottato una notte sola.

Location on top of high ground overlooking the harbour and the Sound. Traditional feel. Traditional Scottish breakfast

Under floor water pump was very noisey which came on if you ran the tap. Went druing the night as well in neighbouring rooms. They got the bill wrong when checking out three times more than it should have been!. Lemon for my fish looked as if it had sqeezed several times before!

Lovely, friendly staff who coped with humour and competence with a power- cut affecting most of Tobermory. Excellent location and superb breakfast.

The location, the traditional style of the hotel, and it was warm and friendly.

The hotel was comfortable and relaxing. The views were amazing from the location high above the bay. Excellent food and service.

The open fires were emitting smoke inside the reception/lounge.

Outlook and location. Lovely break and would re-commend it to others.

Friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency of staff. Good food with excellent breakfast choice. Very comfortable indeed. And made to feel so. Homely smell of log/coal fires is something not usually on offer, so wa most enjoyable. Even the weather was good!

Certain parts of the hotel, grounds and approach road are somewhat tired and in need of refurbishment, but where work has already been completed, things are fine. These did not detract from what overall was a most enjoyable break.

Very welcoming staff, excellent food, very reasonably priced and superb location with outstanding views.

Great staff, helpful and interesting. Food was excellent, everyone was accommodating. Super location within easy reach of the town. Traditional building with the comfort of staying in an historical place.

Twin beds a little short for tall people (6' 2" plus), but this is minor.

It is a romantic place, with magnificent views. If anything, it is even better in winter, when the weather can be cool but dry, and the open fire in the sitting room more welcoming. The food was quite delicious. The only criticism I would make was that placing two raspberries on top of the porridge is most un-Highland ! I thought it was a horrid idea! However, the haddock done in batter (on the dinner menu) was light and crisp and golden, and the various seafood dishes excellent. The staff were kind and helpful and friendly. The bedrooms are traditional, and don't have the latest in bathroom fittings, but that suits the general atmosphere. There are no lifts, so if you are getting on a bit, you should make sure that you're only one floor up. There can be nothing quite as conducive to calm as sitting over breakfast in the bay window which overlooks the bay and the Sound of Mull, Ardnamurchan and beyond. At least as long as they don't put those raspberries on your porridge!

The views over the harbour & bay from the bedrooms & dining room/s are wonderful. The staff were first class for friendlyness & the food was spot-on.

.Rooms are a bit tired and could do with refurbishment, creaky floors start off funny but soon start to grate !

It's worth paying a little extra for a sea view room as the view is amazing! I had actually booked a garden view but decided to upgrade when we arrived. Fortunately they had a spare sea view room & gave us it for the price of a harbour view room (£125 instead of £145). Breakfast was very good too. Possibly the best haggis & black pudding I've had in a hotel.

The decor throughout is relatively basic & in need of refreshing. There can be no doubt that what you are paying for is the view & location. Nonetheless, our room was a good size & comfortable enough.
