This hotel was absolutely fantastic service was 5 star and staff were friendly. The food also was excellent I would highly reccomend this hotel. The only downsides to the hotel was the corridor to the courtyard rooms as when doors opened to other rooms there was a backdraught which caused the entrance door in our room to bang. Overall the service and comfort of the room made up for this.

Ground floor courtyard room 302 required blinds down due to traffic outside window - absolutely no privacy Smokers gathered outside window therefore smell of smoke drifted in Very noisy due to traffic entering and leaving on both sides due to proximity to stairs to first floor and ground floor entrance Vinyl covering on both bedroom chairs was ripped Shower hose was dripping in black slime around head Not sure if toilet seat should have had a lid or not Generally just not what one would expect for a four star hotel unless this description only fits the main house. When we arrived we could only eat in the restaurant as a wedding party took up the entire bar area, however the restaurant was lovely and the waiter could not have been better. Not clear that there then is only one area to eat if a wedding is taking place.

Stayed Friday and Saturday as my cousin got married there on the Saturday. Could not fault the hotel at all! Wedding went perfectly and the wedding coordinater was amazing! They catered for our every need for both the wedding and our stay. Even when the 8 year old flower girl refused to sit anywhere but the top table (when the wedding party were lined up ready to go in!), it was no problem to rearrange the top table for her. Beautiful hotel, brilliant staff, great food and reasonable prices, especially for the quality of the hotel. Could not reccommend enough for either a wedding or if you just fancy staying over after a day at the races! I honestly could not think of a single fault and with over 100 guests attending the wedding I did not hear a single complaint from anyone.

The rooms were big, which was great with bringing a toddler and staff were very helpfull for getting things we needed for our child ie high chair and cleaning bottles. Our room was right next to the road so quite noisy.

The room was spacious , the bed was comfortable and a good shower in the morning The town is a fair walk away. The facilities were in another building.£10.00 A bit pricey for a continental breakfast.

Have stayed a few times and always impressed. Wonderful cooked room service breakfast! Pity that the courtyard rooms are a walk away from the hotel facilities - especially when it is pouring rain. The rooms in the main building are luxury. I've had them before, but on this occasion when I asked about an upgrade they said it would be £50 for the night additional.

The hotel is beautiful, very comfortable, food excellent and the staff were brilliant - we were made to feel very special during our stay. It will be the way the staff made us feel that we take away with us. Laura and Jean best wedding planners/co-ordinators in the area.

We were invited to a wedding at he hotel, booked in for three nights, didnt arrive until nine at night, but when we asked could we still eat, the staff could not have been nicer. In fact, the staff were so pleasant and efficient the whole time that we were there. Enjoyed the food, our room was good, and I even managed to borrow a wheelchair when I was there, as I had torn my hamstring the previous day.. will certainly come back if in the area.

Our short stay was made special by the luxury of the Western House Hotel. We ate in the hotel dining room and enjoyed a freshly prepared meal, which was unique to the hotel. The room was spotless, spacious with lots of little extra touches - even hot water bottle, if required. We didn`t need to contact housekeeping but the option was there for forgotten essentials or extra milk for tea/coffee in room. We didn`t like noise from outer door, courtyard annexe, when it closed. This can be heard in the rooms. When we left / entered we tried to close it quietly but it won! Probably just needs minor adjustment.

We were attending a wedding and were able to 'snap' up the last two rooms. The venue is superb, staff brilliant and very efficient. I just wish it had been a summer wedding and we could have utilised the outdoor space! For the money we paid, although we did get a 'good' deal I feel breakfast should be included.

Have used the hotel several times. It's easy to reach, the rooms are of excellent standard, staff are friendly and the food is wonderful. It's also very good value for money compared with other 5* hotels we have stayed at e.g Hilton Glasgow and Cameron House. We will definately be going back.
