Affordable comfort Country location Good value meal options Helpful staff
nice room, and location and price
bed was lumpy and I would say it was ready for a new matress
The receptionist was friendly and helpful The room a good size
Felt a bit tired Bar staff uninterested in serving anyone Hard pillows Not worth the money for what is a basic hotel catering for business travellers
Our room stank of damp.
Good Location - Close to Newbury Racecourse. Room was large and clean. Decent for the price we paid.
Bed was lumpy. Breakfast was overpriced and had to wait 20 minutes for some of it to be restocked. Thin walls!
Unfortunately, there were some 30 something yr olds guest who were drunk, and thought running around the corridors at 2.30am till 4am was funny banging on other guest doors and shouting at the top of their voices was ok - it ruined what would have been a nice weekend after attending a friends wedding. Not impressed!
Decent size room
Small bed and tv.
Reception staff and Housekeeping staff. The hotel lay out and the garden area to the front. Value for money.
Slightly too far out of Newbury.
Wifi completely useless, ethernet connection in room did not work.
It was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was good.
The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Room service meals left in corridor with a disgusting smell of stale fish. Antiquated TV and unable to change channels.
Very good staff, nice bar & restaurant, nice rooms, good location
I couldn't get the wifi to work corridors smelled strongly of some sort of cleaner
It was clean
Lack of friendliness or willingness to go the extra mile. Food portions too big.
Basic best western. Out of town off a road with nothing near by so get a good rate!
We stayed in room 215. Late at night next rooms guests came it. Walls so thin we could hear the flick on the light switch and every word they said!
The room was ok. The website showed a bath but sadly ours was just a shower with the toilet at an awkward angle
The junior suit was fantastic, nice to have a lounge suite
Modern room, modern bathroom air con
Welcoming ,organised and ideal for our trip to Highclere Castle. We had a lovely stay and slept like logs! My mum left some clothes behind and they sent them back to her in Ireland ! Lovely helpful staff and a lovely retreat from London.
It was perfect! Would highly recommend for all types of need!
Staff very polite, breakfast very nice.
My room was boiling; bathroom radiator stayed on and the radiator in the bedroom was on full blast when I entered(it was a hot day!)
I have stayed in Best western hotels in many places and this was the most basic so far. Nevertheless the staff were excellent and we survived the experience, in that it satisfied the requirement.
The hotel was clean fresh and welcoming and the staff were professional and friendly. On what was one of the hottest days of the year so far the hotel provided a refreshing oasis The Food was out of this world.
I liked everything.
Lamb shank crucified, very hard meat, over microwaved. Internet pretty slow, television channels missing? meals are not cheap considering the quality, pub down the road is better.
staff very helpful and quiet location
TV didn't work, given amother room, then air con started leaking. Wi-Fi not very good
There is something unusual about an hotel being out in the country surrounded by lush green fields and I really liked this. It was, though, a little bit too far out of Newbury. My stay there was one of the few times that I found myself thinking: 'I really need my car'. I was also doing research on my family tree which took me to various places in the area, and the girl at the desk was very helpful in facilitating me with information on where the places were and printing off relevant information.
It felt a little bit remote. Also, the bus stop was out of action due to roadworks and, coming from Newbury, I had to get off at the berkshire Arms Hotel and walk back. It's a busy, dangerous road and I was wary as to who might pull up alongside me.
Super King bed Location & quietness Friendly staff couldn't be more helpful Relaxed atmosphere
No chairs or stools to sit on - eg a stool would fit under the counter.
