Umi has a quiet location close to Hyde Park, Notting Hill, and not far from popular shopping areas. It is a 5-minute walk from Queensway and Bayswater Tube (subway) stations. Located in a residential garden square, the friendly Umi hotel features the Yumi coffee shop and a restaurant/ bar that opens in the evening. All rooms offer plasma-screen digital TVs. Umi is convenient for Paddington Station with its Heathrow Express service. London's shopping areas of Oxford Street and Knightsbridge are easy to reach, as is the famous antique market at Portobello Road. Hotel Rooms: 116

Not too pricy, nice neighborhood and easy to travel by major attractions in London. I found Umi, a quiet hotel although I saw many young couples or group at the hotel. Locker room too small. I hope you have refurbish most of the room with new carpets. Last few year, I was in the room with quite ruined carpet.

Staff were very polite and helpful. Room very clean with all you needed. Very expensive for what I consider a budget hotel. Lots of school groups and noise and that 'hostel' feel. Crowded.

This place is fine for backpackers who might have had value from the three beds squashed into my attic room. And to be fair, the bedding and towels were clean but the room carpet was not and much of the hotel is grubby. At £100 without breakfast this was very poor value.

So noisy from nearby rooms all night long - well I think they went quiet around 5.30am. Uncomfortable room, shabby and facing onto the street at ground level. If you have a choice don't stay here.

The hotel was in a good and pretty central location, only about 10-15 min removed by underground from the big shopping streets. The room we stayed in (5th floor) was very basic, and not worth £110 per night.

Best hotel staff i've ever had the pleasure of being served by in London. Squeaky floorboards and thin walls made a good night's sleep difficult to achieve.

The Breakfast, the vue from the room. The room was good for one person. The waiter service is so nice ad friendly. The payment information provided by one of the reception staff was poor and she was upset because I couldn't understand the information. In fact, she didn't speak other language except english and she didn't empathise with the cmr. She should try to explain or use other words because there are many language and many different cultures in the world. I'd recommend to include more people speaking other languages because in the umi hotel there are so many foreign travellers.

The location only Very small room, cleanliness level at satisfactory levels only, very old decoration in the rooms, and finally, no ease in paying off the bill! Tried to give the whole amount of money for the 3 nights I would stay in cash when I arrived but they wouldn't accept it!!! It's the first time I've been to a hotel where I tell them to pay the whole amount from the first day and they don"t accept it!!! What's the point there, I really don't get it...

We stayed in room 415 - we arrived and had to dash straight out so had no time to complain - the room looked like there had been a water leak from the room above - the ceiling was repaired (looked like a botch job) and the room smelt awful of damp - the carper where the water had leaked on it stank awful and was hard from the drying - it was so awful we had to sleep with the window open (raining) so no slep and my cloths I had hung up smelt of the room ( dry cleaning will be expensive) I would like you too consider a refund or part refund as this room should not be used until the repairs have been taken on professionally. It was such a shame as the position ans staff were great - please consider a refund as we would like to come back... Trish cullen

Close to a range of good restaurants, friendly staff, reasonable price for the area. Towels and sheets were not spotless, windows cannot be opened widely making it hard to get some fresh air in the room (may be a problem during summer), noise from the street as I was on the first floor and early delivery of dairy and other products happens through the hotel main door.

Bright entusiastic staff. I had a single room which was perfectly adequate for my needs. The rooms are quite old style design but are perfectly functional. For the money I paid which was great value I cannot think of a negative point.

Checked-in in the evening and the staff were fantastic. Checked out in the morning and the staff were rude and just seemed like that they really didn't want to be there. Stayed for 2 nights. First night was great but 2nd night not so. Toilet didn't work (different room).

The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. The hotel is in an excellent location .... Lovely and quiet but close to the tube to get into the centre of town. I stayed in a single room. It was pretty basic but very clean and I had my own bathroom so if you're not spending heaps of time in the room then this hotel is perfect. I would definitely stay here again .... Clean, convenient and good value for money.

Location was really good & convenient. Shops, trains, buses, bike hire, Kensington gardens & palace all within walking distance. Breakfast was really good with good selection for cooked or continental breakfast, restaurant nice too. Just ensure you have breakfast included in the price, otherwise can be pricey. Luggage storage was free & hotel lobby had comfortable waiting areas with Internet (at a cost). They told us English breakfast was included when we checked in, then tried to charge us for it when we left. One staff member was understanding about it, one told us we had a 'choice' of whether we wanted to pay for it, we weren't 'obligated' but of course we said we weren't going to pay for something we were told was 'free' (!) so she told us we couldn't really complain because we got a free breakfast! Also, housekeeping came into our room twice while we were still asleep, once at 7am & 9am, even though check out wasn't until 11am. The room was fine, old and tired but still fine & good for a place to sleep. Shower alcove wasn't clean, still shaving hair from previous guest on the walls! Water pressure & temp was good though. Wifi & Internet cost £1 per 20min. All in all was good for the location & a fine place to sleep, just don't expect more & it will be fine.

The staff are excellent and a very good location. For those reasons I would stay again. The hotel markets itself as green and environmentally friendly but I am not sure. It simply needs some diy attention in areas eg stop leaks etc The carpets in the hotel are crying out for proper professional cleaning to remove the multiple stains over the years. A little TLC and possibly not much investment could turn this hotel into an oasis in bayswater.
