location, friendliness and helpfulness of all staff. lovely welcoming fire in the lounge on a cold blustery day
Very clean, comfortable and welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and very good value. Cannot recommend too highly.
Nothing negative to say.
Lovely ambience Food great Friendly service Amazing location despite being on motorway Nicely decor rooms
Prices a little high Rooms getting a bit tired now, some wear and tear issues
A hotel very close to the motorway providing a much improved service compared to the larger branded companies. The additional cost is more than countered by the better facilities and staff.
Very pleasant and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable hotel .Lovely food in the restaurant. Very convenient location if you are travelling on the M6. Excellent value for money.
have stayed here many times over a span of 30 years and have enjoyed seeing the growth and development of this family business, placing excellence at the forefront of the endeavour.
We were informed that the restaurant was booked for a party on the night of our arrival but a meal in the lounge bar would be possible. No problem except we found the lounge bar so full of party participants any attempt to eat a meal would be very uncomfortable. We opted instead for room service which was excellently executed but not to everyones taste .Trying to mix a private function with the everyday working of the hotel is a problem we are sure can and will be solved,Please give us back the excellent conservatory !
friendly staff from the minute you walk in the door. the ambience of the lounge and bar area.well appointed an spacious bedroom.
Log fire in lounge and restaurant dinner.
Lovely rooms, fantastically clean and comfortable. Couldn't fault my stay.
Ideal location as we were travelling North. We had never stayed here before but we will definitely return and have recommended the Hotel to friends
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Good meal in main restaurant.
Best hotel I've stayed at.
Comfortable, spacious room - and delightfully warm after spending a day walking in a very wet - but beautiful -Cumbria. Excellent restaurant.
Everything - the log fire in the lounge which I sat by to have my supper. The room - welcoming comfort. Glorious biscuits on the tea tray . Yummy. Very good breakfast with a glorious view of the hills.Smiley staff. What more could anyone ask for.
What's not to like.
Quiet, roaring fire, very friendly and perfect for us to stop at, as we make our way to Edinburgh for 5 days working at the contemporary art fair. We will be back again next year.
Breakfast needs to include a better bread. Something like a nice granary. I eat bread very rarely and it would be nice to have something like this offered.
Comfortable clean room Excellent breakfast
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The log fire in the lounge was lovely and comforting. The food in the lounge was also very good. Being pet friendly was for us the best aspect of the hotel, very welcome.
Location Room size and facilities (other than narrow bed)
Narrow (single) bed Slow and erratic breakfast service, dinner not so good either
We have stopped here several times, travelling up and down to Scotland and are never disappointed. The hotel is excellent and very restful. The staff professional and helpful and booking an evening meal is a must, always yummy!
The decor, the staff, the food, the views, the atmosphere and the convenient location... We liked everything.
Dogs having been in room
Everything about this hotel is fantastic, especially as it is a "motorway stop" - but like no other. It's like a luxury hotel with fabulous views and fabulous food. We arrange our trips so we can stop, rather than just carry on to our destination.
Sometimes we can't get booked in!! It's so popular!
Comfortable, welcoming, straight forward hotel without any unnecessary frills, ideally placed for our regular journeys between Gloucestershire and the North West of Scotland
Difficult to find anything, but we do , perhaps, find the bar area rather gloomy.
Beautiful location & setting. Very relaxing stay. Excellent attentive staff in reception area & room servicing.
Restaurant lacks leadership both at breakfast and dinner. Breakfast buffet items not managed for continuous use. Disappointed that dinner menu did not include the excellent local produce. Staff at both breakfast & dinner were vague in their attitude.
