Staying here is our special treat to ourselves on our way south after our annual holiday in the highlands. We love it.

Welcoming staff, lodge style accomodation and fantastic evening meal

Nothing really other than only one small towel in the bathroom, probably just an oversight as I saw bigger ones on the cleaner's trolley in the morning!

Reasonably large well appointed room, comfortable lounge/bar. Friendly helpful staff. Much better than I expected for an hotel close to a motorway services area.

It was in a nice location and very peaceful.

The food in the restaurant was far too expensive.

Perfect location for travel to Scotland from London

Everything. We were on our way back from Scotland and wanted to tour The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales so the location was perfect.

The staff,the Lounge, The situation of the restaurant for breakfast, the comfortable room and the farm shop.

booking stated, filter coffee machine and robes allocated on arrival, coffee machine supplied when asked, though told robes not given any more, surely this once perhaps given as not our fault, had we known would have brought our own. otherwise great staff would love to come back

The food was excellent, and well served. My room was quiet and comfortable, with a fine view. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Supper menu good . Unfortunately the breakfast fried eggs are batch cooked ( sparingly / underdone ) and then placed under the inevitable hot lights to maintain their heat . ok for mi , m5 etc. services but for an otherwise excellent hotel , I think not . In spite of the above I will return .

Lovely hotel in beautiful but very convenient location

The welcome, the ambience, the dinner and the sense of peace about the place.

Nothing really. Instant coffee was supplied in the room, whereas we'd have preferred real coffee, but the instant was welcome.

comfortable rooms and good food

regretably the area had a power failure shortly after we arrived so the kitchen had to close - however they stil served sandwiches etc and made the best of a situation outside of their control

Lovely warm relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, coffee machine in the room was a nice touch also the breakfast was of high quality.

Over priced drinks and food, slow bar service. And poor tv choice as that's all there is to do after dark,

Location We stopped of on the way to Scotland. Very comfortable hotel with lovely views . Very good food.

The whole setup was well run, relaxing break. Staff we're polite and helpful. Rooms were outstanding.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. As a lone single female traveller with a dog I felt safe and welcome, which was important to me. The rooms and furnishings were very comfortable and warm ( it was -8 ), the bathroom toiletries led to further puchases from me on check out ! . The room coffee /teas were also of excellent brand/ quality.

My one and only gripe is that I ordered the cheese board from the a la carte menu and I felt the cheese had been cut some time before as it rendered it hard and dry and therefore not as good as it should have been.

Convenient for motorway

Friendly, warm welcome as well as a warm and comfortable environment. Log fire in the main lounge was particularly welcome on an extremely cold evening. Very good food and excellent service. Wonderful view from the bedroom window. Although on business, I would stay here for holiday accommodation.

Although a small thing, real ale in the bar would be nice. A leisure centre/gym would be a good addition to the facilities.
