In an ideal world, I would have preferred an en-suite. However, I was aware of the arrangement when I booked the room and, as such, was not concerned in any way. My son, however, who was travelling with me, was more self conscious about bumping into other parties on the way to and from performing his daily ablutions - your typical teenage angst! - but once wrapped up in one of the supplied robes (see above) it was no problem. If, like me, you are a "bath person", start drawing your bath before brushing your teeth (etc) as it does take a little while to fill. Otherwise - all good :-)
The owners (Peter & Catherine) were very friendly and hospitable, providing a great service without being in any way intrusive, including a welcoming pot of tea and biscuits on arrival. They additionally appeared genuinely unperturbed when hauled from their beds, at 11pm, to answer a late night call from my aged Aunt on the house telephone - sorry again! The Waterlily room, in which we stayed, was light, airy & very spacious, the bed linen immaculate and the mattresses very comfortable. Catherine's art lines the walls and adds to the ambiance of the establishment; the painting of a beach and rowing boat in our bedroom was particularly appealing. We had a separate, private (exclusive to our room) bathroom, which necessitated our needing to leave our bedroom and wander a short distance along the landing to reach the facilities. However, there were fresh white toweling robes and disposable slippers supplied, for added convenience, in making this briefest of journeys. The bathroom, which was light, airy and newly decorated, contained a bath and over bath shower - nice toiletries supplied too! Breakfast was excellent - fresh fruit salad, cereals, crispy bacon (exactly as ordered!!) and runny yolks in my poached eggs every time!! Great location, right in the middle of town and close to the (50p a day - honesty box) town car park (always plenty of spaces) and other amenities, including local pubs/dining. All in all, a lovely little place to stay.
