Bedrooms very small but ample for one night stay
Value for money Bed clean and comfortable Breakfast- good quality Location
Room size General decor tired
Bar Good Breakfast (incl staff) Excellent Location
Small room Poor decor bathing facilities poor Tv did not work properly Tea and Coffee facilities poor Mattress old and lumpy
Enjoyed our stay. Lovely old building full of character. The bed was very comfortable. Beautiful grounds and plenty of parking.
The staff were rude, they never provided breakfast to the room even though we filled in the form and it was requested. The noise throughout the night was horrendeous, we could hear shouting and arguments from other guests until the early hours. Would not recommend
Bed too soft and constant noise of pump all night so no sleep
No hot water for shower - bath water ok - loo didn't flush properly
Friendly helpful staff, good food, real ale in bar.
Furnishings getting a bit tired
Hotel was quiet and well placed, plenty of parking, Everything needed from toiletries and refreshments (tea/coffee etc.,) was available in the room. Liked the clean bedding each day. Comfortable bed. Good TV and phone in the room.
Our double room No 25 was 'compact' and dated, not much room with our bags which did not fit in the small wardrobe. Basin was cracked but staff at the desk said new basins were on order. A 13+ tog old style duvet pad in hot weather was too hot, so just used the duvet cover, was impressed next day the staff gave us a sheet as well as the duvet in it's cover.
Location and the grounds.
Staff were quite indiscreet about hotel matters. Spec of rooms did not offer amazing value.
The age and condition of old building, good, adequate parking , remote site, good food selection.
Poor bathroom decor and horrible nylon shower curtain, my BIGGEST pet hate. Oh and the bitter was off!!
Aesthetically pleasing, nice staff, food was good value, well the meal I had was fine! and breakfast was good although a little slow. a good nights sleep! would not pay the normal price, I got a nice room for £60 of the net. £60 B&B would make it 5* value
We used this hotel as a stop over whilst travelling. It is a delightful old place with friendly staff. Our room was a little dates but more than met our needs. The food was in the evening was reasonably priced.
The wifi kept losing signal and we had to keep logging in. Maybe this was because we were in an end room... Breakfast is not included in the price and £12 for a hot breakfast feels a bit steep.
The Dinner in the restaurant wasn't very appetising
The grounds and front of the hotel are stunning.
The room was very small, and very hot, the bed squeaked, the decor was tired, the sink and bath took a long time to empty. Although the breakfast was nice it took over an hour to be served. The receptionist was very abrupt. We booked for rooms for four couples on a corporate night out, this could have been a regular thing, we were not impressed and will not return again. I have the impression that because we booked through Booking. Com we were given the worst rooms.
Very nice staff.
Showers are small and the shower curtain would tend to blow in and stick to you. TVs are too small.
Helpful friendly staff, fantastic location, quality room, great breakfast and good set price 2 or 3 course evening meal. If you're having breakfast book in advance, a lot cheaper and worth every penny.
Bar/drinks a tad expensive.
Excellent staff and service Good menu choice Excellent food
No lift - had to walk to the top floor
The comfort, cleanliness and grounds Staff attitude varies, but one member at least was extremely helpful.
Wi-fi was very unstable and I complained but receptionist was not very helpful on this occasion
Very nice building and setting
Slightly dated decor
Wifi kept disconnecting
Rooms were clean but could be freshened up but ok
Bed was comfortable
Looks and feels a bit run down
Very nice hotel, very friendly crew, good kitchen...in short very good !
the location, style comfort and friendliness, dinner was excellent value for money and just fantastic, great poached eggs!
some of the decor bit tired and needs a bit of tlc
