The only minus point was a poor quality cooked breakfast (powdered egg, cheap sausage etc), everything else was excellent.

We stayed one night as we were booked in for the gala dinner. We were dissapointed with the whole evening, reasons being, we booked in April 2010 to ensure we got the table we wanted which was at the front near the dance floor. We were told that would be a problem as we were the first to book. that was not the case on the night we were more near the door going out. It was cold where we were sat under the air conditioning. The sparkling wine was flat no fiz at all, we had to ask for our bread after everyone had got theirs. the pate on the canapes didnt taste nice all very disappointing after looking forward to it all year. We have been to many Best Western hotels and functions but this was the worst. Dont know if we will be there next year. The fireworks and the piper

Food was good and staff very friendly. Although on Sunday night we were the only customers in the restaurant.. All the hotel rooms were seperate from the bars and restaurant which meant that one had to go outside for meals or drinks. Unfortunately the night we stayed there it had snowed and the ground was covered by ice. We found it difficult walking across to the main building of the hotel.

Good value - the group of which I am part held an event only 300 yards away - I reason to be at the hotel was locaction , cost and somewhere to sleep in clean and comfortable surrounding. Just one very small comment - the hot water takes ages to reach the bathroom. Various members of the group commented about this.

Very nice old country house hotel located centrally in Retford. Accommodation was in an annexe building just of the main building on extensive garden grounds. Good parking facilities. Rooms and interior have the designer look. Food was very good.

Location, clean modern room. Sat down for breakfast at 09:30, only two of us in. Breakfast very dry bacon burned, must have been under the hot plate for hours. Spoiled it a bit.

The staff were helpful, the room comfortable and clean. There was a rather fousty odour in the main area of the hotel. The food was alright, though not great.

Mid winter not the best time to comment on well laid out grounds, interest, but would be very pleasant in warmer weather. Main accommodation block has advantage of separation from dining and function use. Car parking on at least one outlook from bedroom wing gave satisfaction to security concerns although all was floodlit and scanned. Menu and service very good even though there were competing functions in progress.

I enjoyed my meal in the bar and the service was excellent I like to sleep with the window and curtains open, but with a security light that came on above my window as soon as I opened the window I had to keep the curtains closed I would suggest if your on your own when you arrive put your bags down at the door as the lights work via your door key and the slot isn;t within reach of the door unless you hold it open with your foot and reach out!!! While I was told the key card worked the lights I wasn;t told where it was

Most of the staff were very pleasant. Cost, good. Parking Although the room was nice and clean, it turned out to be very draughty mainly from beneath the entrance door to the room even though the radiator was very hot. Doors along the passage way were constantly open (didn't know whether this posed a fire risk) possibly contributing to the draught! I was only able to get warm water from the en-suite basin even after running the tap for a long time. The bar area is also somewhat lacking in atmosphere, it is more like a doctors waiting room.

Within walking distance of town centre, but a small local map would have been a useful addition to room information.
