We had a lovely room, split level although up 2 flights of stairs access was reasonable and the upstairs relaxation area was a boon.

warm and comfortable with excellent breakfast more like a guest house than a hotel, certainly not a 4 star property. Our room whilst comfortable was nothing like we expected from pictures on your web site (quoted as 'superior' with seating area which was in fact 1 upright chair)

Good location on the beach front, the hustle bustle of the town centre a short walk away, comfortable room, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Some building work was on-going during our stay but it didn't cause any hindrance.

I could not find a fault. Friendy hosts, excellent food and spotlessly clean. I would recommend the wheeldale to anyone who appreciates a top class hotel.

One of the two rooms we booked was lovely (room 9) - complete with balcony. The rooms were warm and clean and appeared to be newly decorated. Plenty of tea, coffee etc in the rooms plus great tv's. The breakfasts were excellent - could not be faulted. I was asked to move rooms on my second night (of three) as someone else needed my room. Although the room i was moved to was said to be an upgrade, I would have been happier if I had been notified on booking. I had booked a 'superior' room, but felt I had been given a basic room (room 2). I think I could have been informed on booking that extensive building works were being carried out right outside my mum's room (2) causing early morning disturbance.

We were given an extra room which gave us additional space. The drinks provision was useful as we were too comfortable to move on the last evening. Sky tv very welcome on the last evening too. The staff were very friendly and the price was right. My husband enjoyed his full English breakfast every morning. It was a fairly long walk to the centre of Whitby but much nearer and parking is a problem.

Location on west cliff is great. We had a living room area with sky tv off from the bedroom. The breakfast was of good quality and we were asked if we required more toast which always impresses me! We parked easily on the road, once the day trippers had gone home. But a few cars can get into the small car park if pre- booked . Only negative I can think of is there was no hook on the bath-room door to hang towels/clothes. Also we were served with three rashers of bacon at breakfast. I think two would be ample for most people given the plate full of sausage mushrooms tomatoes etc. but thats just us.

The Wheeldale was great for what we wanted for our weekend. The small fault was at breakfast, the eggs where hard we prefer our yolks to be soft.

We enjoyed the location and the owners were pleasent a good breakfast the room was ok clean and tidy The room was not a superior room with seating (recomend not to have room 2 if you want a view) also the room had seperate beds pushed together the view was poor (side of house) parking was also poor a bad start for our first time away without the kids

Stayed at wheeldale second week in feb stayed here before and always enjoyed our stay very close to beech only across road good parking on site or on road lovely breakfast good choice of cereals and full english, close to all shops but far enough away to be quiet on a eveing ,all in all a nice few days to recharge The only conplaint we had is the room we stayed in (room 6) only had two rather small uncomfortable chairs to relax in after a day of walking also advertised as sea view could only see the sea if standing as windows where located in the roof attic type .at the time we stayed here it was also very windy and the rear attic window had a lot of wind noise from it
