We chose the hotel because it was close to where we needed to be the following day. We didn't expect luxury so there were no disappointments. The hotel is best described as "adequate" and comfortable with loads of character. The staff were, without exemption, very friendly and helpful and that contributed enormously to making a pleasant stay. Food was excellent. For us the location was perfect, and the surroundings are quiet and rural, which wouldn't suit everyone but it was fine for us. Seems well patronised by friendly locals, whichis always a good sign. The only problem was none of the hotels making. We didn't get a ticket for the all-night door slamming competition which was being held by a bunch of drunks who were apparently staying there while working nearby. If it was possible to slam a door, they did, and they were using the fire exit fos special slamming as they went outside to smoke - this carried on till about four A.M. then started again about 6a.M.! Some people have no manners or consideration for others. This was in stark contraxt to the pleasant people running the hotel.

Acommodating, easy parking, friendly, good breakfast, quiet On booking I informed that I wanted to leave at 7.30am. On arrival I spoke only to the barmaid, and she didn't know of my proposed early start. I didn't enquire further. Next morning the weather cancelled the need for the early start, but I was told that breakfast began at 6am. So all would have been well. Just that on arrival there was no confirmation of my request.

A very cheerful reception from all the staff - treated almost like family. The food was far above our expectations; the Cullen Skink was mouthwatering, and the venison and lamb superb. Not fancy cooking, but good local ingredients cooked properly and served well. Huge portions, too.

My Dad, daughter and I stayed here to attend a family party. We booked a family room (1 double, 3 singles). Suite was laid out in such a way that we each had our own room pluse use of lounge area which was perfect for us. Not luxurious but great value for money and lovely and clean. Lovely food, we sampled the breakfast and evening meals which were both excellent.

Very friendly proprietors and staff. Nice quiet location. Clean, warm and well equipped rooms and overall excellent value (superb breakfast !!) We would definitely stay there again. The bed in our room was rather too firm/hard for our comfort....but then we find this in most reasonably priced accomodation (probably our age!). Not really a complaint;more a personal observation.

Had a very relaxing time at the Hotel. Rooms very comfortable and staff were very helpful. We stayed in the family suite which was roomy have already recommended the Hotel to a friend who has 3 children. The Hotel has a small play area out the front so the children could play while we relaxed. The food was fantastic.

Very spacious and well planned family room, comfortable facilities. We have stayed for one night only and I am unable to evaluate the food except for a very generous full English breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Wheyrigg Hall Hotel is off the beaten track, about 14 miles from Carlisle, which is great if you want time to unwind in countryside surroundings. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, Soya milk was available too. Our room was a double with another partly partitioned room with a single bed. .... loads of space. Having the bar/lounge on site was handy. Maybe some background music could be played as the total silence was a bit uncomfortable. It was unusual to have only toilet and shower cubicle in bathroom and a sink in the single bed end of the room.

The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Really good value for money. We had booked three rooms- all the rooms were good sized, very clean and well appointed. We had access to free Wi-Fi. The Hotel was quiet during the night ensuring a good nights rest. Very happy with the food for choice, quality and service. All in a very successful trip. The Hotel location was well suited for touring both Coast and inland. I will recommend to family and friends and will definitely visit again.

Very good breakfast, staff friendly. They had no record of our booking and luckily had some rooms left anyway. This was despite me receiving a confirmation email from yourselves. They said that this had happened the previous week also except that they had no rooms left! This is a local drinking establishment and the bar was packed and we did not feel comfortable in there at all. The room was very dated, the TV didn't work and the shower was abysmal.

The friendly atmosphere of owners and locals, also the residents we met on our stay. Relaxed spot but not far from the attractions, the lakes are stunning, plenty to do if your interested in historic roman wall sites on the hadrians wall area. A good all round relaxing wknd, or long stay.
