Had an evening meal, staff were not very accommodating and chicken fajitas poor
Loved everything about this -especially the quaint little room. Also, breakfast which was provided at no extra charge was amazing. Will definitely be back.
Very welcoming, friendly and homely. A great location.
Attention required to front drive.
Rooms, although on the small side (owing to fact that it is a 400-year inn old) were beautiful and extremely comfortable, The bar and restaurants were full of character and we enjoyed the easy going ambience. The friendly staff were extremely polite and helpful and the service was excellent. Following a comment by one of our party about the damp weather, more logs were added to the open fire.... it was really welcome and so cosy!!.
The place was cosy and welcoming. That staff were pleasant but it was obvious they could have done with more staff on duty at the time of our stay. Had to go and find someone to check out. This took a while.

The staff were friendly and helpful food and accommodation excellent also great entertainment
The staff were welcoming and attentive. Breakfasts were excellent and there was great view of the loch from the dining room. Meals were traditional and plentiful.
The room was a little cramped and the ceiling low. Steps to and from the car park.
The Location was perfect. Staff were very helpful. The food was good, but choice was a bit limited.
The driveway up to the hotel is dreadful. Better to park at the front of the hotel.
Lovely base to visit the stunning local scenery
Couldn't find a kayak to hire, but future plans for the Whistlefield may include this?!
Staff - friendly, helpful and efficient. Food - superb freshly cooked breakfasts and evening meals. Comfortable bed and good shower. Location - by Loch Eck. Stunning views. The whole area is worth visiting. Car parking Wifi (throughout but quite slow - probably just the area) I don't know if there are rooms suitable for disabled guests at ground floor level. Despite the negatives we would still be happy to return, especially if there's a larger room available.
Very small room. Tiny shower room, door opened outwards into the bedroom but even that was difficult. Then we had to squeeze past the sink (easier if you're very slim!). It was almost impossible to stand in front of the sink with the door shut. On the 3 evenings we were there, no space was available to eat/drink on the bar area so after our meal in the restaurant the only place to go was our room where there was nowhere to sit apart from the bed. Staircase narrow with a sharp bend so not easy to get a case up - but it's a very old building. You can't have the ambience of that with modern conveniences.
The ambience, Scottish feel, warm welcome, good food again Scottish inspired, décor and location lovely.
small room in the eaves, would have liked a blind on the bathroom window
This is a well located inn- not far from Dunoon, but far enough to feel remote. The staff were friendly, the room comfy and cosy, the food excellent.
Great arrival as pipe and drum band playing which we didn't expect, apparently it's annual thing. Helpful friendly staff, comfortable room, ok breakfast with a panoramic view of loch and hills
We loved the food, the bar area, the residents' dining room, our hotel room and its beautiful view. The hotel was located in an area of outstanding beauty and the view from our bedroom over the loch was stunning.
The breakfast on the second day was spoilt by the two staff on duty arriving 50 minutes late because they had slept in. The quality of the food and service on this day was not as good as we had experienced on the previous day. Otherwise, we loved everything about this place and would definitely return.
Good service Nice people Good breakfast
Staff very friendly
I could not fault it.
We were in Scotland for the Commonwealth Games and spent 4 days at the Whistlefield Inn. The staff were very welcoming, the accommodation clean & with excellent scenic views and the food of a high standard. We enjoyed our time at the Inn and would return if we were in the locality again. Highly recommended.
High standard throughout. Excellent value for money. Good choice on menu and well presented delicious food.
Staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpfull. Food was great
Welcome Food Facilities Views Atmosphere Breakfast
Very small bedroom - could only stand up in a small part of it. Sleep disurbed by an electric fan elsewhere in building No beer on tap Carpet in room could have been cleaner
Helpful approachable staff. Beautiful location and views Great service Lovely room Good breakfast variety Value for money
Staff welcome on arrival. Location very picturesque. Quiet at night. Local walks in stunning scenery such as Benmore Gardens and Pucks Glen Local to Inveraray for the Highland Games in July. Delicious bar meals at night and wonderful view at breakfast from the Restaurant overlooking Loch Eck. Beds comfortable and a power shower in the room. Tea and coffee on a tray in your room. Walk down to Jubilee Point in front of the hotel on the Loch. Collect an array of local pine cones for Christmas decorations.
The midges can be fierce!
The staff were so friendly and welcoming, food excellent and the view was to die for. Look forward to a return visit.
I couldn't find a single fault.
The Whistlefield was quaint with nicely decorated rooms and surprisingly modern bathrooms. The area was stunning. The staff was really great!
You could hear some noise and music from the bar/restaurant area. Thankfully, that ended relatively early.
