Score from 124 reviews Good
Friendly welcome. Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely room. Character of building. Location. Good breakfast.
A bit pricey.
Centrality to Rye Friendliness of staff
Difficulty of parking Lack of lounge Modest breakfast provision Overpriced
Proprietor and staff very accommodating and friendly.
Stayed over a weekend and as room was at front of the house it was very noisy, but I am a very light sleeper! My husband was not disturbed by the noise.
We were met on arrival by a friendly staff member who showed us to our room and explained the arrangements for dinner and breakfast. The room was spacious and there were thoughtful provisions for tea and coffee. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, though small (remember the physical and heritage limitations of a building of its age) was clean and fully functional. The breakfast was among the better breakfasts available, and the hosts were friendly and attentive. The restaurant is a highlight. We would stay there again if we got the chance.
There is very little not to like.
The friendly staff, the eggs florentine, the birthday card and bottle of prosecco! A real treat.
The folder in the room about the facilities etc hasn't been updated for a very long time and the pages are very worn. The plastic boxing covering the wires in the bathroom could have been finished better, it finished half way along with a raw edge, it just didn't look nice or inkeeping.
Excellent room and breakfast
Traffic/road cleaning noise outside from very early in the morning. Very small bathroom - with bath/shower that was very difficult to get in and out of
Location, attentiveness of staff, beautiful building in the historic centre of Rye. Easy parking.
Rather pervasive curry smell at times
Very friendly and helpful staff and the location in the centre of Rye was perfect.
Slightly difficult car parking -- not the fault of the hotel, but the public car parks are a bit of a walk away which is difficult with luggage (parking on the High Street is very limited).
room & bathroom, breakfast, helpful/friendly staff
poor wifi (but not a problem as i didn't really need it)
The owners were very hospitable. The room was spacious. Rather warm! But who expects hot weather in the UK? Lovely breakfast.
Noisy in the a.m. This is what you would expect on a high street. One of those c'est la vie things - an observation rather than a criticism.
Linens on the bed View Breakfast - eggs Benedict to die for Ambrette restaurant Location couldn't be better
No bath mat - instead a funny wooden thing which wasn't really effective in a small shower room.
Ostensibly a lovely room . Our host very kindly helped us find an alternative by the sea when it proved to be unsuitable. Thank you for that.
Our room being over the restaurant.
Extremely friend hosts went out if their way to make my stay comfortable. Excellent hospitality!!! Great location in centre of rye, big, quiet, comfortable rooms.
Short and early breakfast time (but it's possible to request a later breakfast if you want)
The staff strived to make our visit enjoying. And, the hotel seems to focus on detail, unlike some British establishments. The building us older and doesn't have air conditioning, like many British hotels. But, the fans help cool things once late afternoon came. Breakfast was good as well, and the smaller size of the hotel made it more quiet and pleasant.
the position and the size of room
1. overpriced 2. not to be able to have a shower
Four poster bed was nice. Breakfast was faultless. Javed the owner was very pleasant. Location was very central. The restaurant below was amazing!
Nowhere to park for free. And when paying car was a long way away. Bath wasn't working properly when we arrived, took until the following afternoon until it was fixed. Excrement in the toilet when arrived. Extension leads everywhere. Not five star and not value for money!!! We left feeling ripped off!
lovely staffs, interior... the location was perfect.
The insde of the toilet bowl was a little bit dirty....
Staff was very nice and service mindef. The breakfast was fantastic! Very charming rooms with old beams in the roof.
The rooms could have been a little more clean.
The owner takes care of his visitors, whom he treats like friends.
We were greeted by the owner who ran us through the ropes for the place. He could not have been more helpful or polite. The building is stunning and retains many original features. The room (2) was very large and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom, although small, worked well. I will be staying there again when I go back to Rye.
A charming hotel in a wonderful part of England. Fantastic staff, great food, lots of character and history. We have stayed twice now and look forward to our next visit.
The Indian meal
The smell pervading throughout the house. Some extraction needed. Bathroom facilities need upgrading
Breakfast was very good and the dining room was of historical interest.
Whilst the decor and furnishings in the bedroom were happily eclectic, the hotel reception, hall and staircase were drab and in need of an uplift.
Beautiful big room, central location
Was told there was a shower in the room, but it was just a shower head over a bath! No parking available
Staff friendly and efficient Breakfast - both eggs benedict and pancakes were best ever tasted! Quirkiness of room Free snacks and bottled water Location very central
Attic room was very hot (although fan was provided) Pigeons outside window made a racket and threatened to come in! Wifi in attic room was pretty rubbish - no idea if better in other rooms.
