The White Hart HotelSadler Street, BA5 2RR Wells (Show map) Very good, Score from 95 reviews“Good location. Good Italian restaurant across the road managed by the hotel.”
David,
Reading
This restored 15th century coaching inn is situated in the heart of the small medieval city of Wells, by the cathedral green, just yards from the ancient marketplace. Situated in the center of the city, the hotel is a great base from which to discover historic Wells and the surrounding areas of beauty and interest in Somerset. Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar, Clarks Village, Wookey Hole and Longleat are all close by. The White Hart Hotel, together with Brufani's Restaurant, is now a well-established fixture in Wells, offering accommodations, with a full cooked English breakfast included in the room rate. The hotel offerd 15 refurbished bedrooms with private bathrooms, a large function and banqueting suite and a first-floor restaurant. All of the rooms are individually decorated and many still retain some of the more interesting original features of the building, while simultaneously incorporating modern comforts and facilities. Nice hotel in the centre of Wells. Fantastic service all round - burgers were amazing. Really enjoyed our stay - just the size of the car park was a little difficult to manoeuvre around. The cracked basin the bathroom

Location of the hotel was excellent being right in the centre of Wells meaning the car could be parked in the hotel car park (space limited) and forgotten about Although the room was clean it was a little dark and airless; only having one small window that could be opened. My major gripe is the apparent complete lack of soundproofing of the rooms. We could both clearly hear another resident having a telephone conversation late in the evening and then later were kept awake by the sound of a resident in another room snoring heavily

My room, number 8, in the old stable block was cold unless the supplementary radiator was left on.

We liked the location and the staff were very friendly, efficient and courteous. The food was good and reasonably priced. The bed - it was too soft, not very comfortable and creaked everytime you turned over.

The hotel is comfortable and friendly, and makes good use of its associations with other hotels nearby, to extend the range of dining and services offered to guests. The Italian restaurant nearby, in one of the related hotels is a little oversold, and the food did not live up to the recommendation.

Comfortable bed, good refreshment facilities in room. Central location. Bathroom was in need of an update, and was not particularly clean (dust on ledges rather than anything unhygenic).

Location very convenient to Wells Cathedral School. The Hotel itself and the Staff are very welcoming and warm and the convenience of the excellent restaurant makes it a first class choice for our furture visits to our Grandson who is studying at the school.

Friendly warm atmosphere and in centre of town. Car park was more of an alleyway, very tight parking. Radiators kept banging from 6am in the morning.

Very clean, nice rooms, lovely breakfast & in a great location. Staff quite disorganised, when we arrived didn't have any record of our reservation, but luckily I had printed my confirmation with booking.com which they needed to 'borrow'. We also booked a table for dinner, that also was very disorganised, just not enough staff, even though we had our reservation for 6.30pm which is when they started serving,we had to wait a very long time for our drinks never mind our starters, but whilst we were waiting a large party arrived & all of a sudden there were staff running around after them,we thought this was unfair as we too were customers who were paying for our meals. I would recommend The White Hart as a B&B,but not as a restaurant.

Very convenient, excellent food and friendly staff The entertainment from Room 2 the night we stayed, was like listening to the soundtrack of a porn movie. The couple next door enjoyed their coupling, but we did sleep well afterwards!

Convenience to the centre of wells and the price at the time as a late booking.normal price may have put me off. Parking is problematic so a large group would struggle if all booking together.

The restaurant at the sister hotel, the Ancient Gatehouse. The difficulty of parking on the premises and the lack of prior information about the very complicated one-way system for reaching the hotel.

The location was great just across the road from the cathedral, the room was at the back of the courtyard and so was very quiet, the service was very good and the staff very friendly. The bar area wasn't large although the hotel caters more for diners

The room was very comfortable, clean and welcoming. The bed was extremely comfortable. The en-suite was spotless, warm and well equipped with products. Good shower. Tea and coffee making was excellent and more generously provided for than in many hotels. Breakfasts were again very well cooked and served. Very easy to get to the Cathedral and the shops. Loved it and would certainly visit again. Our only slight complaints were that the tv was rather small with poor sound quality (husband electronics man!); the room was very hot, but that was quickly remedied and better that than cold; being over the kitchen, there was a certain amount of noise underneath until evening meals had finished and again in the morning when breakfasts were started.
