White Horse GuesthouseDartmouth Rd, Churston Ferrers, TQ5 0LL Brixham (Show map) Excellent, Score from 39 reviewsThis highly recommended, family-run guest house is set in its own grounds and is ideal for touring the area and enjoying the coastal walks that take in some of Devon's best scenery. The White Horse was built in the mid 19th century by Lord Churston. Subsequent owners appear to have been offering accommodations to paying guests for over 100 years. Each room has a private bathroom and is beautifully decorated with crisp linens, fluffy towels, tea and coffee making facilities, a TV and a DVD player. The hotel has a lounge bar which serves food, a dining area, a large yard, and ample forecourt parking with space for trailers. Hotel Rooms: 8

Freindly owners, Clean comfortable rooms, Lovely Breakfast. Great for Steam Train lovers, as the Hotel is next to a Station, Train runs from Paignton to Dartmouth, lovely even if you arn't into trains, & only runs 10 till 5 so noise not a problem. Nice Resturant, also Go Carting, Pitch & Put, near by, but only a short drive into Brixham, & other lovely places to visit. Will be booking again for next Year. 1St Impressions of the Lovely Hotel was Fawlty Towers, but with out Basil!! Not very Disabled Freindly, as a lovely older style Hotel no lifts. But this is not a complaint. Its only to make you aware.

A friendly atmosphere and good location for Dartmouth, it being only 10 minutes drive down to the Higher Ferry and far better room rate than Dartmouth accommodation.

Nice inviting place with very comfortable rooms. Hotel owners were friendly and very helpful. Good hotel facilities including a lounge and bar. Rooms were quite big with a lot of cupboard space and 2 arm chairs as well as the usual drink making facilities. Hotel was very quiet. You couldn't hear noise from adjoining rooms. Nice touches like a dressing gown and flannels. Best thing was the breakfasts with a choice of four different cooked items, including scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Will definitely visit again!

I had a comfortable ensuite room and I liked the breakfast room very much. Two minor matters: (1) it would be nice to have soap provided in the ensuite area, just a small bar would be sufficient (2) two or three bulbs of the main lights to the room were blown. There was enough light using the bedside lights.

The guesthouse was very clean and the food was excellent. The staff and owners at the guesthouse seemed to be put out by having guests staying which is very strange as they run a guesthouse, they seem not to be too bothered at being around for their guests only when required, it would have been nice to have seen a little more of them.

The "family room" was a suite of two bedrooms sharing a bathroom. A very good idea for 4 people, I was most impressed. The whole place was clean and the people friendly, we wanted to check in late than needed and they were most accomodating saying that there would be no problem! They were most helpful about suggesting places we could go for dinner, the one we tried was great, good value well cooked food. I love the location overlooking the wonderful steam railway, dont' worry, it doesn't function at night! I would heartily recommend this Guesthouse. It is not easy to spot from the road and they don't have a sign on the road saying where to turn. I decided to explore and found them the second time past but that was in daylight and with a car full of adults looking! They are near a wonderful steam railway that only runs during the day (no nighttime noise!) and this I know will put some people off (not us, we found it charming). This is the reason they don't put a sign out.

Good value for money with excellent breakfast. I stayed one night to break my journey - would have liked to stay longer and used the steam train which stops right outside hotel! Busy main road to cross if you want to walk to the coast

The Whitehorse Guest House is next door to a Steam Railway Station which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. We had a ride on the train then across on the ferry to Dartmouth. There is a bus stop across the road which goes to Brixham, a lovely harbour town. Also there are lovely little villages to visit. There is an excellent little pub about 2 mins drive away where the food is excellent. We had a very relaxing time.

I stayed here as I was having a short break to be near my family staying on a nearby caravan site I am a widow on my own and I joined my family during the day.. However it would be a perfect place to stay again if my family were not here. Ideal location to travel out and about with train station and bus routes close by. So easy to walk. Lots of information available. Very welcoming and friendly and meals available at any time. Room and facilities very clean and nice and delicious breakfast. I intend to return.

The location next to the railway station at Churston gives easy access to the steam train to Paington or Kingswear. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the quality of the room was good. The car parking spaces are limited and small

The guesthouse was spotless from top to bottom, and the young couple who run the place and their helpers were friendly but unobtrusive. The breakfast was excellent - great menu, well cooked, quickly served. It is a very quiet place in a very busy area, which makes it a bit special I think. You can have a quiet, restful stay or you could use it as a base from which to access the bustling tourist and lesisure activities closeby. This guest house would be fab for mature couples and singles looking for a quiet, friendly value-for-money place to stay. The bar wasn't open - it would have been nice to have had a night cap and got to meet some of the other guests.

We loved everything about this super Guesthouse- Hotel. It was extremely comfortable, breakfast was excellent and we really could not fault it. We have stayed in quite a number of different 3 -4* hotels in the area and rate the White Hourse much better that most. Thank you Brian and Linda. We will return next year.

A fine old house with history, large comfortable rooms, very pleasant hosts, excellent breakfast. Added interest, the little railway station adjacent. The tv in the bedroom was very old with poor reception

Lovely guesthouse. High standards of cleanliness and service. Charming steam railway station next door (trains infrequent and only in day time, so no need to worry about noise).

The Hospitality was first class as was the breakfast. I would very happily stay at the White Horse again. My room was very comfortable and the proximity of the Hotel to Paignton, Brixham,Torquay and Dartmouth made my Holiday very interesting.
