“I was impressed with the staff ,they were all very helpful, cheerful and accommodating, even dealing with the rather rude people next to us at breakfast, very professionally. Breakfast was divine. I would definitely stay again .”

Good, friendly and helpful welcome at reception when I arrived. Choice of location of room. Comfortable bed, large bathroom. Historic building and historic location. Tatty paintwork drafty windows, fairly run down decor and fittings. No one on reception when I wanted to leave. No one answered the phone or came so I just left.

Got exactly what we expected for the price , would have liked to stay in the old part of the building as many of the bedrooms are in an ugly 1960's block at the back. However room was clean, bed was comfortable and there was plenty of parking which is unusual considering it's high street location.

The staff were courteous and helpful. They were clearly able to make decisions and respond to issues and did so in a friendly and professional manner. The hotel's strapline is that many of its features date back to the 16th century. My guess is that this includes the plumbing. The shower did not work at all and it was not possible to have a bath as the taps could not be turned - this, coupled with a radiator stuck permanently on maximum output, along with a rushing water sound akin to a river in spate, did not make for the best night's sleep I've ever had. The cleanliness of the room also left more than a little to be desired - the stained easy chairs were disgusting. Whilst staff did all they could to compensate, I'd have expected a significantly higher standard for "London prices." Certainly won't be back.

I goto Dorking once every six months, and I had looked at this hotel before, but the reviews weren't very complimentary. However the recent reviews have been better so we decided to stay. Well it's a lovely old world charm hotel with loads of free parking and the breakfast was very good indeed, (they even had veggie sausages), and you can order kippers and poached eggs and the like. We had a lovely large room which had been recently decorated, good bed and flat screen tv. Dorking is delightful with lots of antique shops and loads of restaurants and pubs. Would recommend and will go back in October. The are no ladies toilets downstairs- not that that is a problem for me, just a heads up for elderly female humans

Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable price and nice breakfast. Not a complaint but if we can have 24 hour free wifi then this will make the hotel to be a perfect one!

It's the only hotel in the centre of Dorking, which is why we've stayed there so many times (visting family) . it's old and quirky, with rooms & floors in the original building on many different levels. The older rooms are very nice, with features such as four-posters, etc. and very comfortable. The modern block behind the car park is a bit souless. Breakfast is good. The lounge has a lovely log fire and very comfortable, old, leather armchairs. No access for anybody in a wheelchair. Some staff are really helpful, others less so. Restaurant can be a bit quirky; on Boxing Day we were offered the "Summer Special" menu! The tv in our room had very limited channels - only 3 available (typical of the hotel) and reception staff were unable to resolve this.

The price was so good that we just hoped it would be clean and comfortable. Our room in the main hotel was well above expectation......the hotel has lots of old world charm and character, our room was spotless, everything worked and there were plenty of clean towels in the bathroom. The car park was very big for a high street hotel, and check-in and out was easy and straight forward. We didn't have breakfast but there are plenty of places nearby in the high street to go to.......Frankie and Bennys breakfast for a fiver each at Box Hill hit the spot!!

We stay at the White Horse regularly when we visit family. Excellent staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, great breakfast. The rooms are being renovated, one at a time. The middle of Dorking is a good location for us.

It was perfectly located for our visit to Denbies ine estate, the welcome was warm and the room comfortable. I was surprised that given the proximity (and we noticed that there were at least two other coiple who were visiting Denbies that the vineyard was not represented on the wine list especially as its so local!

Quite welcoming clean and breakfast was very good There was no fire in the lounge, bit disappointing they said they had no coal!! Was a bit slippery in places outside, we mentioned one place in particular that we nearly fell over on, needed some grit, but it didnt get done. This was on the walk to our room 77.

Its location. Center of town. Easy to get to train station. Decor needs updating, particular improvements needed in the bathroom. Didn't like being charged for internet.

My opinion of Mercure White House Dorking is that it is a very comfortable and pleasingly traditional hotel. The structural layout is full of character which adds to the enjoyability of visiting the hotel. There was nothing that I did not like about Mercure White Horse in Dorking.

It is centrally situated in Dorking ( a small town), and has good access the Surrey countryside. Also, good train links to London and Guildford etc. Dorking has some excellent eating out restaurants, so maybe that is why the White Horse seemed quiet. Pricing of food and drink over the top especially as eating out in Dorking is so good. Room service was not up to scratch and had to ask 2 days running for extra towells and shampoo. Booked a room with walk in shower as a requirement and this was confirmed on order. Hotel has NO ROOMS with walk in showers!!!

I asked for a quiet room and was given one of the garden rooms. It was quiet, extremely comfortable and very clean. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Generally I saw the same staff around all week and as a single female traveller I found their friendliness was supportive without being intrusive. The location is ideal being in the centre of the town and parking was plentiful which is not always the case for a town centre hotel. For a 4 night business stay I found the menu quite limited and not enough mid price range meals. For example I ordered the lamb rump for £17.95 and I was advised to purchase a potatoe and a veg as side orders. The waiter was correct as the meat came with a couple of shallot croquettes. The meat was excellent but the meal ended up costing me over £25. I appreciate you can eat in the bar but on the whole the same food is available in the restaurant. I would stay at this hotel again but probably would not eat there every night. One other point to make is that unlike some other hotels in the area they charge for wifi.
