Staff were most helpful, food was excellent, room was very comfortable.
There are parties over the holiday period so some noise. This didn't bother us at all but may impinge on those who want a quiet life and an early bed.
location facing the sea very professional staff, they ask "would you like your coffee poured ", enormous bed wifi that worked towel robes ,no problem parking in winter . I had the feeling the manager tried very hard to make my stay pleasant and they succeeded. This is the first place I have had no problems in a long while .
breakfast is all waitress service so a bit limited
Was nice and warm. Very clean and well presented. Festive decorations added to the homely and cosy feel of the lobby, lounge and dinning areas. Staff were very helpful, polite, friendly and generally great. Good location, right off the High Street and on the sea front. Wifi was occasionally weak in some parts of the bedroom, but I put this down to poor weather. The food (breakfast) was very nice, and the table was set up very nicely. I would recommend their full English and their porridge! All in all, a very nice place to stay. I would certainly visit again and have recommended it to friends and family!
Great welcome friendly and relaxed. Breakfast bif enough to fill you for the day. It's always a favourite on our list of hotels to start
The comfy, homely feel of the hotel. Pleasant staff with a smile on their face and luxurious rooms. Perfect.
We didn't like the fact that we couldn't stay forever ;)
Food was bad steak expensive poor quality had better in a weatherspoons two for £10 Staff took umbridge to pointing this out would not return Shame
location coupled by informal but efficient and courteous staff. Excellent menu.
TV channels didn't match room guide, probably needed retuning.also programmes cut out in the middle of programmes. i.e.Sky box kept shutting down.
Good location on the sea front. Breakfast was nice and plentyful. Bistro food was good. Room was clean and comfortable.
Our room was at the back and overlooked by properties behind the hotel. Needs a refresh inside, some parts look a bit tatty.
Location. Comfort, Food.
Excellent dinner spoilt by being charged and extra £2 for two very small "supermarket" small white bread rolls which would have cost the hotel less than 20p. On Friday night not told that there would be a private party in the function room directly below our room, felt part of the bass speaker. On complaint, along with others, moved to a quiet room but night already spoilt. Situation handled very well by staff but have to ask why on earth were we put in that room in the first place having taken a booking for a function.
The hotel was in a lovely position on the seafront. The breakfast was very good
The room was very small and the decoration and furniture was rather tatty. The bathroom was tiny. We only stayed at the hotel 1 night so did not complain until leaving but we thought £140 was far too much for the room we were allocated
Staff are so helpful and the welcome back is genuine. For us it is a home from home and we look forwarded to return ever 3 months or so. I left my curling tongs in as draw and they are being returned postage paid, not many places give you that level of service.
Having to come home so soon, only could manage to stay a couple of nights this time. It would be nice to have a veggie option that does not contain cheese.
Food was gorgeous Staff were fab Housekeeping staff were very efficient Resturant manageress was excellent and very helpful
I did request a Happy Birthday message on my partners desert plate, this was not done. The champayne in our room was as requested but had been there quite a while as it was warm. Check in was 2pm and we arrived at 2.20pm, so the ice could not have melted that quick. Rooms a bit expensive.
Quality and presentation of cooked breakfast was wonderful. Excellent value set menu in the evening
Accessibility - travelling with disabled person who struggled with access the to reception (heavy doors and steps)
Lovely room good breakfast fantastic staff..
Not enough choice on daily evening menu .
Waiting staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Staff on reception were welcoming.
Meals took quite a time to appear but were very good when they arrived. Maybe should stress that everything is cooked fresh and customers need to be patient.
the staff were fantastic and could not do enough to make our stay the best ever. breakfast was waiter service and excellent
we had to wait 50mins for our meal to arrive on the Saturday night. However staff were very apologetic
Beautiful part of the world. Great food, fantastic chef who was happy to talk about his work.
Location was great Parking on site Restaurant was good, nice breakfast choice in the morning.
A bit basic Noisy at night No view - over looked back of building Small room with limited comfort
It was very warm on the premises
Lovely views and location and most importantly dog friendly
Location was excellent on the sea front with excellent views, staff were very helpful and friendly. Very good choice of breakfast to start the day.
Parking is a little pot luck. Food smell from the cooking especially fish on the landings to the rooms. Rooms are starting to date and for the price could do with updating. Unable to open the window to our room on the top floor, double glazing required, being woken by the fishermen at 04.30 is not enjoyable.
It was my first time in this hotel. It was obviously an old hotel bringing together a number of independent buildings knocked together and I didn't know what to expect. In fact I need not have worried. The corridors were rambling and lengthy (not so good if you don't like stairs) but everything was in good condition, nicely decorated and in good working order. My room was very comfortable. My evening meal was excellent (lovely fresh fish) and the breakfast was also very good. As someone else has pointed out breakfast is all waiter service, not a buffet, but I rather enjoyed that! Good wifi throughout and my Sunday paper turned up really early. And the staff were all helpful and impeccably polite. I shall certainly return.
The bar is a bit close to the restaurant but there is a separate lounge area and the staff were happy to serve me drinks there.
Delightful staff who were always helpful Very comfortable bedroom with all requirements met Excellent free wifi Excellent breakfast. (The only meals we experienced).
The lift was extremely slow - I mean really really slow - both to arrive and transport, and only went to the first floor. The stairs to the second floor are very steep (the servants' staircase). Avoid a room on this floor if your knees give you discomfort.
Location, good service in restaurant
Had very little sleep due to noise from adjoining room. Even though this was reported on checking out with a verbal and written complaint and then followed up by a telephone call from me, there's been no response whatsoever from the management. Not impressed with their customer care! Appalling for a large hotel in a prominent position in a well known tourist spot. So if you have any issues while staying there don't bother to report it.
