price, and all the little extras that used to be standard, but arent anymore
noisy birds nesting in attic
Restaurant service slow
The hotel is very well located in Bala. The single rooms are very cheap, only marginally more than a bed in a hostel in Bala. The staff are helpful, and there is a free car-park on site (although it is small), plus free on-street parking close-by. The shower in the room was excellent - powerful and hot.
The bed in my room (301) was incredibly uncomfortable, and i slept poorly each night because of this. Plus the single room had a toilet actually in the bedroom - not just en-suite, but physically in the same room as the bed, which isn't very hygenic. Ultimately, you get what you pay for, and whilst this hotel is cheap in comparison to others in Bala, it is cheap for a reason.
very good location in village, excellant base for sight seeing area.vey comfortable clean bed.nice shower liked the chocolate placed on pillow and biscuits replaced daily for tea ,coffee.normally pay the amount we payed for hotels inferior to this so was pleasantly surprised for a better quality accommodation
had aroom on front so was abit noisy when local pubs turned out till quite late obviously hotel not at fault.
The noise from people outside until the early hours
-Excellent staff -Very good breakfast
-Parking spots were limited -Too noisy area
Good size room and ensuite. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and service was good.
Valance on bed was extremely grubby and stained. Noise of heels banging around and tables and chairs being moved downstairs woke us up late at night.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming to our party, we had a family room and an executive room, the main difference being that the executive room was huge. Food was good, lots to do in the area. Would happily stay there again.
No fault of the hotel, but the Main Street outside got a bit noisy at night at the weekend. If you're sensitive about that sort of thing, suggest you ask for a room at the back. Fine midweek.
Loved the staff..they were friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Loved it's quaint style and relaxing atmosphere
The cleanliness really let it down..was rubbish in the drawers and wardrobe and the divan sheets had stains on them..! The bathroom was spotless though
No towel rail in the single room for wet towel after showering
Comfy bed. Spacious bathroom. Good food. Friendly atmosphere.
Good breakfast and meal deal in the bar. Lent us towels for white water rafting!
Single rooms had toilet in the bedroom open plan.
Location, food, staff, room - I used the hotel as a base to climb Snowdon which was only a 20 minute drive away. The bar and restaurant were a welcome treat that evening!!
Everything was first class, from the room to the breakfast.
Friendly and helpful staff, good value for money. Would stay there again if i'm in the area.
Nothing all good
Friendly staff. Comfortable lounge. Good breakfasts.
Not value for money. Very tired looking decor. Restaurant closes at 8 pm for dinner. Not enough staff they doing 3 or more different jobs and as a result customers get poor service.
Staff were fantastic
Plug hole in bath blocked. Noise outside the hotel at night
Fantastic room....the food was very good....the bar staff were helpful....couldn't fault the breakfast.....
I was in a single room, which was huge. Staff were super friendly Breakfast - fantastic
Adjoining door to room next door - locked but other occupants kept trying to open it
The hotel has character, is in historic building in the center of the beautiful town of Bala. Joyful staff, extra wishes for breakfast are dealt with swiftly and with a smile
The hotel is by no means a 4-star as advertised. The advertised "recent refurbishment" dates back to 2005 and surely has not reached the room i was in (#306). But nevertheless, it oozes caracter and i've enjoyed my stay.
Central location, lovely food, good value for money with spacious rooms, off street parking and a relaxed atmosphere, Bala is a fantastic village and a great base for exploring and activities
The rooms to the front of the hotel can be quite noisy since they overlook the Main Street which is busy with traffic most of the day.
Car parking Spacious rooms Breakfast inc. V. Nice Comfy beds Great price
The food was good and reasonably priced, the room was very clean and the room maid service excellent. The staff were warm and friendly and adequate on-site parking was available.
In the evening there was sometimes undue delay in serving pre-booked meals. This, I believe, was due to shortage of catering staff and we may have booked our meal on a very busy night. We were on the third floor of the hotel and no lift was available. This was tiring but, bearing in mind the hotel was built in the 18th century, was, perhaps, unavoidable.
it was a lovely old building. the room as nice and the breakfast was very good.
i did'nt like the single bed it was very lumpy and needed a new matrice. the toilet and basin were in the bedroom and not enclosed at all.
