White Swan HotelBondgate Within, NE66 1TD Alnwick (Show map) Very good, Score from 153 reviews“The location is excellent with adequate hotel parking in the centre of the town. The location is ideal for visiting Alnwick castle and gardens.”
Robert,
Liverpool
In the center of Alnwick, this 300-year-old coaching inn is a short walk from Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Its restaurant’s decor was salvaged from the Titanic’s sister ship. The White Swan Hotel is a 40-minute drive from Newcastle and the Metro Center. Alnmouth Station and the northeast coast are a 10-minute drive away and parking is free. The Olympic Suite restaurant offers a dining menu and has stained glass windows from the RMS ship. Hardy’s offers a more informal experience with its bar and bistro menu. The bedrooms all have a private bathroom with a hairdryer and bathroom amenities. Guests can also enjoy a sitting area and tea/coffee making facilities in each room. Hotel Rooms: 55, Hotel Chain: Classic Lodges.

Central location. Interesting decor. Good staff Lack of lift. Internet booking service made booking on wrong dates. Breakfast lacked "continental" items and cooked breakfast was kept warm too long.

We attended the wedding of a friend, the hotel was very convenient located in a wonderful town with lots of local attractions. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. It was a very enjoyable relaxing few days. Thank you to everyone.

My husband and I enjoyed our break at the White Swan. The room was very comfortable and the staff pleasant and helpful. The location was excellent because we wanted to visit Alnwick Gardens. The only fault was the service in the Bistro. In catering for large parties, private guests like my husband and myself had to wait a long time for our evening meal.

Comfortable and interesting hotel in a convenient locastion with a good car park, friendly and helpful staff and a magificant dining room with good quality food. The cable was detached from the belling lee aerial plug on the tv. I repaired this myself. The temperature of the water in the shower was inconsistant The room needed redecoraiton. The ceiling was quite dirty. Suggestion. Teach the staff basic foreign language skills to allow them to greet visitors and help them to select from a menu.

Lovely hotel with helpful friendly staff. The olympic dining room was beautifully decorated and pleasant to be in. We had a good well cooked breakfast in this room and it would have been perfect for an evening meal. Our bedroom was warm, comfortable, clean and well decorated with nice finishing touches. The hotel was perfectly located for a visit to the charming town and Alnick castle and gardens. The hotel had an old world charm with the bonus of an modern comfortable bistro for less formal dining. We visited on a Saturday when a wedding was taking place which seemed to take over the hotel. We could not use the dining room and the staff advised us the bistro could be very busy with wedding guests. We ate out in town and found a superb steak house close by. I would use the hotel again, but not on a Saturday.

Warm welcome, beautiful dining room, good location. One room up-graded at no extra cost because hotel full. Up-graded room was very pleasant. I thought that it was over-priced, especially the twin room on thie second floor. It was not large and formed part of the escape route in the event of fire. People seeking an emergency exit were directed through the room.

Town centre,Alnwick castle and gardens on your doorstep couldn't be better. Also an ideal location for exploring the area. Staff very friendly and welcoming Breakfast - badly cooked and poorly presented. Food luke warm, no local produce (eg kippers not available during a 3 night stay - told "they would be on next day" but no such luck. Breakfast chief needs to up his game. Totally discouraged us from risking an evening meal in restaurant or bistro. Room OK but needs a makeover. No fridge.

Visiting Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands and Alnwick Castle & Gardens. There were no drawers in our room - nowhere to put our clothes so we had to live out of a suitcase. The breakfast staff were off-hand - a flower in a vase was literally 'snatched' from our table at breakfast, without a glance or a word!

the location is excellent, the room was comfortable with nice bed , the dining room with its paneling from the RMS Olympic was a lovely part of the building . Staff were friendly and helpful and we felt at home . The whole hotel could do with some redecoration, the arrangement of chairs in the front hall gave the impression of an old peoples home and the character of such an historic coaching inn was sadly missing under the bland decor . The breakfasts were variable in quality , and service on our first morning was very pressed with lots of guests waiting for extended periods to be served cold toast ( at least I know we were) , so some review of why this service problem happened would help, as staff were clearly embarrassed and very apologetic- I assume this was unusual . , as on other days service was fine. we did get some bacon cooked in burnt fat which was unappetizing, and on one day fried eggs where the white was undercooked. Not serious enough issues to make a public fuss , but disappointing .

We stayed at the White Swan recently due to attending a wedding at Alnwick Gardens. The location was just perfect - a short walk away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the self service style breakfast was very enjoyable. I am sure we will return to the White Swan as its location is excellent for a trip to the northumberland coast.

The staff were polite and very helpful, the room was good value for the proce. The decor is clean and fitting. The dining room is an absolute delight and made our stay even more enjoyable. The only downside - choclate icecream does not go with sticky toffee pudding - come on chef couldn't you have managed creme anglaise.

The staff were excellent and dealt with our complaint about hairs in the bathroom quicklly, courteously and efficiently, although they were slightly let down when housekeeping failed to service our room after our first night. Overall, we would not hesitate to stay here again because of the staff

Staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome especially reception and bar staff. We had an evening meal in the bistro which was lovely and very reasonably priced.room clean and warm and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. The Olympic dining room was beautiful and we had our breakfast in here which was really good and was also included in with the price of our room. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and will be definitely staying again . Thank you to all the staff .
