Very friendly staff, good beer and excellent location for walking holiday.
Rooms a little small: no chairs
Spacious, comfy room; good breakfast, handy location
Rooms at front of hotel are overlooking busy and noisy A road. With windows shut it would have been fine but it was summer and hot
The size of the family room was amazing, the choice of breakfast was unbelievable. The staff were very polite and extremely helpful.
Nice location and good value for money.
Tables were sticky at breakfast, glasses not collected at the bar when we arrived. Just needed to be a little bit cleaner and the décor really needed a freshen up.
Size of the room and breakfast! Very clean. Helpful staff. Nice bar and dining room.
The breakfast was very good and the staff were very helpful.
Arriving to find our ensuite had dirty shoe marks on it. I asked a barmaid to get someone to clean it and she did. I looked closer and found so many cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in front of the curtains, The ensuite door and handle was covered in dirty marks. It really wants a good clean, I didn't want to touch it.
staff, room good value
The location was perfect for visiting Gulliver's the next day. The food was superb - we all thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. The breakfast was fantastic too.
The rooms were fine. Our shower run-away appeared to be blocked, which wasn't very nice, but we were only there for one night. We would definitely stay here again though, as this was only a minor problem.
The staff were very helpful and attentive. Good real ale in the bar.My husband really enjoyed his breakfast
Better vegetarian options and quality products would be better than the veggie burger that I was served.
Excellent wifi Size of room Friendly staff
Main road noise at front
We had booked the room for one night whilst we attended a function at the hall next door which started at 7.30. We booked a meal in the restaurant for 6.00. However, due to the appalling weather, it became clear that we would fail to keep this and put it back to 6.30. But we were held up with floods and road closures that we had to cancel the meal. However, they offered us sandwiches and wine after the performance at 10.00 which we were extremely grateful for. The room (No 5) was fantastic and we would have no hesitation in coming back. The breakfast was excellent and the young waitress went out of her way to make sure that we had everything we needed, considering our horrific journey from Lincoln the night before. We spent the rest of the day travelling around the peak district, this time in glorious sunshine. 10/10
Nothing apart from weather!!
people smoking in the entrance, dirty beer glasses left in the entrance from the night before, cigarette ends left on the floor, the cleaners did not come in on the sunday so nothing was hoovered or cleaned, small room, bed creaked all night.Spoked to the manageress about the problems and that we would be leaving after one night. This is my first bad review
The location of Barringtons, literally a few steps away from The Whitworth Centre in Darley Dale was ideal for me as a guest at a wedding there. The breakfast both days was excellent and the only staff member I saw, Katie, gave me a nice welcome, wonderful attention, carrying my heavy things upstairs and helping me load my car at the end of the stay. She also waited on me for breakfast and although she seemed rushed off her feet, she was very pleasant and helpful. I was grateful as I have slightly limited mobility. It did look to me as though the hotel were expecting too much of one staff member! Parking was great and I was very happy I chose Barringtons on this occasion. Nowhere better if you are attending a function at the Whitworth Centre!
The steep stairs up to the floor where my room was located! But, with Katie's help, I managed it! Also, while my room and ensuite, the dining room and disabled loo downstairs were spotlessly clean, the lobby and the stairs and the landings were very dirty and dusty.and didn't look as though they had been vacuumed for a long time. Having enough staff might have made this a non-complaint!
The rural location was beautiful, we only ventured out for a walk to take in the scenery and it was lovely even in rain, the room was picture perfect, very traditional and quite romantic, the staff were lovely and very accomodating, definately reccomend barringtons
Lovely big room, nice dining room with option for evening meal.
Great size room with decent shower and generally good facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the evening meal and breakfast was very good.
Room was facing main road, which was busy, so a bit noisy through the night.
food was excellent food allways cooked to order staff very friendly well situated to get around to different places lovely park at back very nice
only complaint was front room traffic hard to sleep if window was open need fan when hot weather so you can keep window closed
Breakfast was excellent nicely situated between Matlock & Bakewell and railway station.
The shower drain was blocked standing in stagnant water also bed head was hanging off wall reported to staff nothing was done about it reading visitors book dated back to March every time you moved it woke my wife up banging against the wall get these things sorted would be a nice place to stop.
The value for money was excellent, the room was very spacious and the meals were excellent quality as well as value for money.
Car parking is limited but this is a very minor criticism
We really liked the window seat in our room! We also liked the wonderful park we discovered next door, wonderful for an after dinner stroll and a pre breakfast one too! The closeness of the A6 was convenient for our travelling and much quieter than expected, it didn't disturb our sleep. Staff Nd food excellent and booked via the internet it was great value for money. We hope to return, but not when the bands are on!,
No complaints at all.
Lovely friendly staff. Good pub food. Breakfast good but would have liked choice of yogurt and fruit ie melon. We would stay again if in the area.
Style and surrounding of hotel, room decor, staff, bar and breakfast
house keeping slightly below par in the bathrooms
Extremely helpful and pleasant staff. Excellent food and wine, beautifully cooked and presented
Excellent staff, amazing breakfast, large comfortable room. Will definitely go back. Thanks
