The comfort cleanliness and friendly staff made my stay a great one, after the hectic wedding of my grand daughter
Location of hotel was convenient for our purpose. But there was nothing about the hotel to like.
First room we were given was a smoking room and the smell was awful there were thick cobwebs in the corners and skirting boards were thick with dust . The second room was cleaner but very cold and the radiators never came on.The room was not cleaned or beds made during our 2 night stay. There were groups of foreign men sitting in the reception area who appeared to do nothing but drink tea/coffee which was free in the reception area. Will not stay here again or recommend to anyone. A new thorough cleaning regime is required as a matter of urgency . .
Full of asylum seekers. Felt uneasy at times.
It was a bad night which I spent it up there , it was a cold night and the heater was off.
Filthy room had to be moved, bathroom filthy, broken glass door, letch asylum seeker man, intimidating as sole female business traveller!!
Large rooms & ensuite
Tired , shabby, hotel being used for asylum seekers, fair enough but then should just be used for that and not also let paying guests book without knowing this , and find large groups of them constantly say in lobby playing music and cards very loud and sitting about on the stairs. Hotel was freezing I wouldn't stay there again if they paid me And when waiting in the lobby to leave , EVERY person that booked out while I was there had a complaint
Actual serving and reception staff were friendly and efficient.
Freezing cold room, CH did not work nor did TV. 2nd room fair but still in need of better cleaning and old fashioned and outdated facilities.
I have stayed here a number of times but last week I asked for the heating to be put on in my room and there response was that it wasn't cold enough. I had been working outside all day I think I should be the judge of that. Also the room had not been cleaned. The bed wasn't made and there was only enough tea and coffee for the first evening so I was cold and thirsty!
The room wasn't clean at all, out bed was full of hair before we got in it and when we did smelt of a man's aftershave. The bath/shower room was just as bad. I was quite disappointed because it's a nice hotel with great facilities.
Nothing - apart from the speed of the staff to refund my booking so that I could leave the hotel. They are obviously used to such complaints.
It was dirty, dusty and thoroughly unpleasant. I am amazed that it can be called a 3* hotel when it is little more than a hostel, with what looks like asylum seekers crowding the reception area. I booked there in order to be near Wrightington Hospital where my husband was having an operation, and because I could bring my dog. However a week later I still feel grubby and shudder when I think of the room. I shall be complaining to Britannia Head Office and to booking.com
Staff very helpful
Decor in room and especially bathroom was a bit worn and tired.
Hotel facilities, size of room. Helpful staff.
Too cold in rooms, heating is switched on from 7.00 in evening for two hours only and not at all in the mornings. Hotel is being used to accommodate asylum seekers who sit around all day in the foyer - also breakfast while plentiful is of poor quality. Would not stay there again!
no heating on in bedroom and no hot water. I was provided with a fan heater when I complained. Bedroom set up for some one with disabilities so wash basin was too low and a communication system was either beeping or flashing red disturbing my attempts to sleep
smokers. we are non smokers and i smelt it all night! i booked a non smoking room!!
" The Hotel had a large number of people staying at the hotel awaiting re-homing whilst I appreciate the need for them to stay somewhere the overall standard of the staff, accommodation and food was one of low quality as they have the income from the Government and do not need to maintain a standard for paying customers. I also had a set of Bunk beds in my room so they could call it a family room when in fact in was to house more people in one room and make bigger profits, the standard of cleanliness in my room was poor. In deed the first morning I had no house keeping when I spoke to reception they said its to late to do anything today. Never again will I use Britannia Hotel Group as I have since been told their whole chain is the same!"
Overall cleanliness and lack of maintainens of accom and lack lustre feel of the whole place Must add have stayed there twice over last 4 yrs and am aware of its drop in standards
Nothing about this hotel is worth mentioning in a positive way, except avoid this hotel at your peril
The standard does not match up to a 3 star hotel. No choice of food in the evening despite being told there was. Rooms were dirty and not serviced during our stay. I could go on and list a pile of complaints but would recommend you remove this from your list or receive more complaints.
Close too M6, Staff were friendly and bedding was clean
Food was cold and had been stood for a considerable length of time. Broken tiles, black areas of grout. Shower curtain was pink along the lower edge due to bacterial fungi and filth around taps. My sleep was disturbed by water dripping sounds from above. The rooms window was insecure and a chain attached to restrict the opening would seriously hinder escape in the event of a fire
fare on offer on restaurant was very poor. cheap buffet food only and no a la carte.
Pub across the road does a good selection of reasonable meals
Heating banging all night
Room smelt of smoke, generally poor Decor in desperate need of a refurb. Quality of breakfast was poor. Powdered scramble eggs, stewed tea, cold coffee, sausage were the disgusting
Very tired. ..needs a good clean..carpets filthy.walls grubby in communal and rooms. Very basic accommodation would not return rather pay double to stay somewhere clean
Good friendly staff and close to motorway
No heating for a week and a half. Toilets need painted. Flaking plaster on ceiling. Cold taps were very hard to turn on
The room wasn't too bad. However the bed was comfortable
The breakfast was disgusting, the staff were not good and it felt like a homeless / council place ..
