Room dirty and had unpleasant smell. Booked double room but given twin bed room. Beds only 2' 6" wide. Public areas very shabby and unwelcoming. Exterior shabby and unwelcoming. Dinner menu not displayed. Staff had no knowledge of vegaterian option.

Double room - 2 single beds connected, room was stiflingly hot and noisy from machinery and generators outside. Bar staff happily swearing to each other in front of customers, reception staff uninterested, didn't bother to ask about our stay on checkout.

It was convenient location for us to stay whilst attending local event On arrival, general appearance of the hotel was marred by the fact that the windows did not look clean, as the majority of the frontage is glass this is a disavantage for you. Also the car park entrance and exit need attention, there were big holes in the surface which could cause damage to clients vehicles. The staff were pleasant but did not give the appearance of efficiency that I would expect from front of house personnel. The room was clean and presentable, however the bed was very uncomfortable, which could be easily solved by changing the mattress. The hotel has a lot of potential and could be improved greatly by making some small changes. I would love to re visit this hotel and see the difference I know these few improvements could make.

We chose this hotel as it was convenient for a weekend break and was close to Haydock Park where we went racing on the Saturday. The hotel room was comfortable, clean and suited our purposes. The general areas and corridors of the hotel were also clean and well maintained. Reception staff attentive and greeted us well. Available Parking outside at hotel also a bonus these days. Major disappointment for weekend break was the food and bar and restaurant staff. In the evening we just wished to stay in hotel and have a meal and a drink. Went down to restaurant about 7.30pm, plenty seats available. Only food on was a carvery, no other choice. No A la carte choice. very surprising. Only 2 Starters vaialble Soup or salad.Carvery had only Gammon as a meat choice. Neither of us like gammon much. Take it or leave it was the staff attitude. Offered a bar meal option. Slightly more choice. So went into bar and ordered pasta with tomato and basil and garlic bread. Pasta came cold. Garlic bread burnt. not slightly mind it was black. SEnt pasta back. Came back reheated in a microwave and soggy. Had already paid for all this. Couldnt eat it. Told staff. Seemed not bothered and said they would tell the chef. Last we heard from them. Went to our room at 9.00 diosappointed as didnt want to go out to find anywhere else.

The room was very big for the price. Well furnished and clean bathroom was good with bath and powerful shower. We took our dog and we very happy with the room as the was room for his cage without us being cramped. Very helpful lad at the bar when I picked up bar meals to take up to the room. Very good value for money. Nothing really bothered us during our 2 night stay.

The morning breakfast staff particularly helpful. The room warm and the bed comfy. Britannia hotels are always excellent value for money and the Wigan hotel kept it's reputation.

Absolutely disgusting!! , gave me a smoking room on bottom floor, when I don't smoke and neither does my partner, there was an ashtray on the window cil full of fag ash and ends!! Bathroom was disgusting with hairs in the bottom of the bath! Would not reccomend here, I previously read the reviews and there was mixed opinions, so I thought I'd try it, but should of listened to be honest !! I was charged £2 for using my card which I wasn't told about! And charged extra for checking out late after I'd asked for a late check out when it was booked!!! The staff where rude and I'll mannered !! I honestly wish I hadn't have stayed!!!

I wanted a comfortable base to return to after working during the day. It provided a comfortable, warm room with good bath/shower and tea/coffee making facilities. This was all I really required. It was good to know that the restaurant, bar and spa facilities were there if I needed them but I didn't require them on this stay. The people in the next room were very noisy at 11.30pm before going out and at 4.30am when they returned. Polite notices requesting guests to be considerate toward others would be appreciated by all. Overall the hotel provided what I needed and I would stay there again. If you are going to upgrade anything, start with the televisions.

Only staff who were as helpful as could be, hotel a big disappointment! I was extremely disappointed as no heating in bedrooms during the day, though communal rooms where staff were always warm. Had to spend time in reception area and bar just to keep warm when temperatures in January were below zero! No hot water in room at all not in the evening or morning resulting in very cold shower. I was there due to a hospital visit and as solo traveller usually spend lots of time in my room! Was not comfortable in bar where I was the only woman just to keep warm and eat as could not enjoy room service, never experienced this before in any other hotel and I travel a lot both for business and leisure. Would never stay there again. Decor tired! Very disappointed. Clearly just a hotel for business people who would spend most of the day in a warm conference room. Not recommended for families!

Ideally placed for the motorway, and a reasonable price. Constant droning noise through the night from some sort of electrical equipment made sleeping difficult.

To be honest we didn't rate it at all and will never stay in one again. The accommodation was very dated, wall paper flaking off the walls, uncomfortable beds, mould in between the tiles in the bathroom and very poor service in the restaurant.

Decent breakfast, warm clean rooms, good staff Wireless broadband is useless, very limited reach into hotel rooms with availability only gauranteed in public area. However even in the public area it was unusable. Don't believe you'll be able to work from the hotel via wireless, you will not!! The hot water in the shower was literally scaldingly hot, don't leave children alone with this!!!

We found it ideal for meeting up with our family who were on a caladonion trip as we live in stoke. There was nothing we didnt like as we were upstairs in room 224 and the windows opened but in our relatives room downstairs there windows did not open and would have been clostraphobic for us as we like to sleep with a window ajar.

Location & breakfast are good. Reception was totally disinterested in their work and was hell bent on ignoring me in favour of discussing the previous night's encounters. The ice on the car park was treacherous. If it wasn't so boring I'd say it was gloomy.
