We got a room given which had NO WINDOWS! But we went to reception straight away and asked for a bedroom with a window and luckily we got one I was soo happy!! And the bedroom and batroom where really big. However the bed sheets needed a clean. Also the pillows where really comfy. I'd go agian if I get same room :)
Beed sheets weren't clean enough. Radiator wasn't working in the toilet or bedroom.
Bed was comfy
Not clean needs decorated has good potential
We wanted somewhere cheap to stay on our way back from Scotland and ghost hotel fit the bill
The whole hotel looked dated and was in need of work. Restaurant menu looked ok but not on operation on the evening we stayed due to lack of numbers
Breakfasts were great Dinner very poor - did not look apertising -
The breakfast was not good We had to wait for the eggs to be cooked when waiter returned with the eggs .it was on 1plate and put on top of each other the eggs was turnover on the grill and was hard and swining in oil the tables was dirty
Breakfast was the poorest I've had. Overcooked eggs fried, scramble, beans ect, cold tea. was served a drink at bar with broken glass then tipped it into new glass, instead of doing a fresh drink.
It need some money spending on it. Wall paper tarn in room cracks in ceiling. Pool defiantly needs work.
Value for money
Cleanliness, comfort, etc
Everything it was the worse place iv ever stayed at
Food was horrible rooms were dirty. The place was run down n needs doing up
comfy beds and late night bar.
The breakfast was awful unfortunately. The only saving grace was the hash browns.
Location was perfect as I was working close by.
The hotel is in drastic need of a refurb inside and out. Cleanliness is obviously not on the list of things to do daily from the carpets in the reception area through to the rooms and bathrooms which are very poor.
Hotel location, reception staff very helpful.
The breakfast food was aweful, every thing on the servers was cold and congealed. Warm at best. No staff around to get anything, had to go to reception to get someone to make fresh tea!!
Staff were attentive.
How dirty and noisy the place was.
Fire exit dirty and area outside door overgrown. Cold water failure on first night, had to move room next morning and breakfast was a free for all with items not available. But main concern was that every where you looked under sinks toilets, skirting boards had dirt visible, and not just in the two rooms used but in bar, and toilets in public areas.
The reception staff are really helpful and pleasant...they have a difficult job.
Does the hotel possess a hoover? Never heard one and the carpets are appalling. Surfaces in the room are sticky. The bathroom floor..behind every door you will find hair and dirt. I stay in the Britannia on Portland street. Old decor but immaculately clean. I stay here because its convenient and cheap..but cheap shouldn't equal dirt!
Location was easy to find
Badly in need of refurbishment
checking out and going home having a bath to remove the smell of the hotel from my clothes it stunk.
the bedrooms the disgusting carpets and decor the roof leaking in to the hotel the food the staff the paint in the bedroom was all chipped off the shower curtain was rotton
There is nothing to like.....should be demolished.
Driving into hotel car park- overgrown, uninviting Reception- grotty, threadbear carpet and sofa Room- VILE, dirty, blood smeared on table, coffee stains up walls, mould on bathroom floor, hairs in bed, dust everywhere, stank, bins outside window, carpet totally full of stains and dirt. This hotel should be shut down.....disgusting. As soon as we checked in we checked right back out again. Do not stay here
Poor internet service, the entire hotel looks delapitated and filthy, loud music from the bar could be heard despite me being on the opposite side of the hotel, the reception is filthy with an old sofa, dirty windows and I received no help with very heavy luggage. The entire hotel is a disgrace, I would never stay there again.
The helpfulness of the staff and the excellent treatment from the duty manager.
The first room which we had been allocated had the following complaints which i pointed out to the duty manager when she willingly agreed to accompany me to the room *broken toilet seat to the extent it was dangerous particularly to a disabled person such as myself * curtains hanging off their looks at the window * filthy windowsill not cleaned or dusted * a layer of dust around the crevice above skirting board thick with dust..filthy overall the whole building along with the rooms was tired, shabby, tatty and in desperate need of refurbishmen. we are not complainers usually .. but this was crummy. the duty manager was lovely and very apologetic and a grade or paid to agree with our complaints and offered to upgrade us to a family room which was an improvement although still tatty. she also invited us to a drink on the house which was a lovely gesture. after our unfortunate start we looked forward to the breakfast the following morning but unfortunately it was not good at all. sausages were horrible everything sitting in grease and fat under the lights. no staff around to attend. marmalade&butter for toast was offered on a big dish next to toaster from which everyone helped themselves....very unhygienic. overall very disappointing. we accept that we did not pay a fortune but as frequent travellers we are aware that for same price we could have had much better value for money for same amount. very disappointing. shabby is ok. dirty is not ok. Broken toilet seat...could have caused serious problems.
Right by the motorway
Room very hot Bed not comfortable Bathroom looking old and dated The entire place needs a rennovation
Good location for us, nice lady on reception.
Didn't like the decor- dated and in need of a major update. Our room had peeling wallpaper and damp patches around the window, patched up cracks across the wall. Could see cobwebs on the ceiling and dust on the surfaces around the room. Was a really hot day and I think this was causing all the funky smells, the corridors smelt like vomit but looked reasonably clean. Needs air conditioning throughout for the summer months, even the beer from the bar was warm. Parking wasn't difficult, we parked at the front and seemed to be plenty of spaces available. Only paid £39 for the room so I couldn't complain whilst I was there because I'd feel like a right skinflint. Although the bed sheets smelt clean on closer inspection you could see the odd mark/stain which was off putting to say the least, we managed to get around it by using the spare bedding we found in the wardrobe. This place is fine for one night but if you're use to high standards (or even medium standards) I'd avoid this place, it's fine if you can make do and just need a bed for the night but be relistic, it's cheap and not so cheerful.
It was a good price and in the location we needed
too many little irritations. Close to busy road. We had two rooms where showers operated differently and cold for the shower was the opposite way to the cold for the taps so got scalding hot water but couldn't switch off. Once the tap had been successfully switched off, couldn't switch on again. poor quality coffee. No information available about immediate area
Public areas dated and shabby
