The receptionist when we arrived was on the phone, and ignored us for 10 minutes. Another member of staff appeared at the reception desk - looked something up and wrote it down, and left without speaking to us. The receptionist, when off the phone, was fairly abrupt - the fact that we were late for a wedding reception had no impact. The room we had had a double and a single bed - we would have much preferred a king size, which is fairly standard for £115 a night! The room smelt strongly of chemical air feshenner. The cistern was broken - there was a shoddy DIY fix, whihc meant that I had to remove the (already cracked) cistern lid and control the filler flow, to stop it draining all night (this was at midnight, after I had become sick of listenning to it). The bathroom is basic, with no attention to detail - eg. bottom of mirror discoloured. There was a pair of trousers abandonned in the wardrobe, which makes you question how well it was cleaned. The curtains are just for decoration, pointless. The heating was on all night, making sleeping difficult. in the bar in the evening the wine was drinkable, but overpriced. There was no food after 9:30 (though the duty manager, who was the only really customer service oriented member of staff we met kindly organised some sandwiches). The breakfast was cold and very ordinary, the coffee undrinkable. The receptionist who checked us out had the courtesy to ask if everything was alright - but was clearly disinterested in our response - which was polite, but not praise. The effect of this was not that he was polite, but frankly, that he couldn't care less. £115 seems very expensive for this experience. Oh, and the Christmas decorations are quite tacky for the style of building, which could be stunning.
The duty manager who rustled us up some sandwiches after we had been mis-informed that the Brasserie was still open at 9:30pm. The outside of the building is very promising.

We booked the 4 poster suite. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated but the bed was so uncomfortable and the pillows too hard. Overall the hotel could do with a fresh coat of paint, its looking a bit shabby and worn.
The hotel and the tudor look was fabulous. The room was spacious and the bar area and lounge was comfortable. The food in the Brasserie was the highlight of our weekend though.....absolutely delicious.

Very dated rooms, stains to the carpets, bathroom had seen better days as had the frayed towels. Walls are paper thin and the doors are heavy and sticky so eveytime so one goes in or out it had to be slammed, shaking the whole building! Wifi didn't work so moved my room and got a weak connection - wouldn't stay again.
Good amount of parking Breakfast was sufficient

Angela Bartlett runs the beauty salon attached to the hotel and I was treated to a wonderfully relaxing massage and facial.

We chose this as our wedding venue after seeing the beautiful building and amazing facilities for a wedding ceremony (penthouse) and a good old wedding party/do with the bar/dance floor going into the marquee. After booking several friends and family raved about this venue from weddings they have attended here. The wedding Planners were first class and put us at ease and the day ran like clock work thanks to the staff (especially Gary and Susan). We will be visiting again soon for afternoon tea and leaving the venue with one of our photos. The marquee worked perfect for a photo booth we had and also a magician who entertained groups of people.

The bed we had could do with a bit of minor maintenance a new mattress and screws tightening on the frame.
All the staff are polite and worked tirelessly to make our stay and the occasion run smooth. The room was comfortable clean and tidy.

18 August 2014
Service of food let the reception down e.g. we had finished our dry bread rolls and most of our soup before the butter was brought to the table. Also, the gap between courses was a little too long. Having said that what we had was tasty.
Venue was lovely, rooms were clean, and price was right. The breakfast was excellent. and morning staff very helpful.
18 August 2014
The bathroom wasn't very clean the toilet was stained. There wasn't enough staff e.g the bar in the lounge was open but there was no bar staff.when we arrived it took about 20 minutes even though we had asked for an early check in time. We had to stand around while the receptionist went to check with the cleaning staff!!
The facade of the hotel. We were at our nephew's wedding
17 August 2014
Rude staff that I heard on more than 1 occasion swearing! Cobwebs in the room, poor carpets! And drinks where far to expensive
The breakfast was lovely, fresh and lots of it. Some Staff where nice!
10 August 2014
Our room was out dated No9, looked like something you'd get for £30 a night, room smelt of cigarette smoke, although it states no smoking, but there is no smoke alarm? What's the point, the door was broken, the bathroom smelt of urine when we arrived, urine on the floor and around the toilet base!!!! Disgusting....reported cleaned and still smelt. It was a hot day, breakfast was average although the table had crumbs on it old salt and mustard, obviously not cleaned, it was a one night stay witch we had to put up with, we would not go back....sorry for the negatives it's a truthfull review of our stay.
It was close too peckforton castle, mstaff friendly and helpfull

Disappointed that afternoon tea was only available if booked, was told everything was freshly baked?? Surely baking a few extras scones would not have cost the company huge expense
Attractive and a lovely frontage. Very comfortable lounge. Large airy bedroom. Staff friendly and helpful
21 July 2014
Needs a fortune spent on refurbishment Dismal room - miniscule bed nasty smell in bathroom which was about 10years overdue for revamp- whole place deeply depressing -avoid at all costs- breakfast cereals and other breakfast stuff laid out in dining room over dinner sums it up- staff nice though and did their best
