Lovely location,clean rooms,tea coffee facilities.
Wonderful location. Staff super friendly and helpful. Bed very comfy (even though the headboard was loose and banged against the wall. Great that the room had a bath and a shower. Beautiful grounds and views from the front of the building. Amazing staircase, stunning building.
Decor faded, carpet very worn and faded. Headboard loose and wardrobe very noisy when opening and shutting doors. Wasn't aware when I booked that the hotel was run by the christian guild, but it didnt pose a problem for us. The room wasnt soundproof , we could actually hear what other people were saying in other rooms!
Excellent location, Grand hotel with beautiful surroundings, affordable price, great breakfast :)
Not the biggest rooms but a really great place.
Dinner was very nice. The views from our room (17) were lovely.
There was no bar area. The building is beautiful but inside it is very very tired and in need of plenty of TLC. Only one sitting at dinner for 6-30. A little early for us. Breakfast was cold!!!!
Very nice room in an excellent location. The views are stunning. Polite and helpful staff.
only bottled beer available ,none of which I would normally drink.
Great room, friendly people, amazing value for money
The noisy road opposite
Friendly and helpful staff. Quality breakfast
Location was perfect staff very friendly excellent value for money
Decor a little dated could have done with a proper bar
Brilliant stay, the castle is lovely and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcome. Will defiantly stay again
Very friendly staff, welcoming and helpful. Outstanding value for money. Historically important building, home of the Arkwright family for many years. Handy for Cromford station.
There was nothing to dislike.
Beautiful location and great value for money. We will be back.
We stayed in room 34 which was lovely, unfortunately I think we were next to a store room so we could hear the staff going in and out early morning.
The location was excellent the staff very friendly it was a very good stop over.
incredibly friendly staff, very welcoming. It should be noted that although they are a Christian Guild hotel they accept all guests and there isn't as much of a Christian feel as other guests have described. This may be because we were in the annexe
rooms weren't incredibly soundproofed
im sorry to say but iv been here before and enjoyed my stay came on sat 13th dec with husband and two children we booked two twin rooms which i was with my daughter and husband with our son we arrived about 4pm my room was not cleaned empty wine bottles very untidy was offered another room but in the mews away from my son and husband i refused it so had to wait another hour until room had been cleaned wasnt offered a coffee or anythin while we sat waiting when room was ready i could clearly see it wasnt that clean as i work in a b/b and i also clean 14 bedrooms by myself i no cleanliness not happy at all sorry for the complaint
Hotel was nice
Room was freezing
Allowed us to check out later for free
Thin walls. Bed was two singles pushed together and not too comfy as very soft mattress with gap in middle. Blankets as opposed to duvet.
poor parking bad lighting at night room dusty in places bad sealer in bathroom
Quiet atmosphere, peaceful surroundings, helpful staff
Lovely castle and surrounding area. Excellent price for both single and double rooms. All staff was very friendly.
Shower was either clap cold or scolding hot.
Beautiful setting in Derbyshire. Good breakfast in lovely dining room, with views out to gardens. Shame we'd forgotten about the swimming pool, we'd probably have had a swim, it looked inviting. Incredibly good value at £30 per night (breakfast £7.95 each on top). Bedroom small and looking inwards but great for our purpose as we'd gone for friends 60th part in nearby Bakewell so only there to sleep. Would stay again, but probably pay more for a better room.
Bedroom small with no view, and shower and toilet across corridor, but not a complaint as price was so reasonable.
Everything- especially the feeling of cosiness and friendliness. The breakfast was second to none with locally sourced produce. The pool was warm and a bonus. The environment was stunning and the staff extremely helpful. Local village within easy walking distance and historic and picturesque.
The scenery and the view of the castle was fantastic. Inside some of the rooms had been decorated nicely, the breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. The location was exceptional. The staff were very friendly.
The bedroom could have done with some modernising. The evening meal was very poor, really disappointed. Would not recommend the evening meal here.
