Location Breakfasts Room Pool
Castle needs some TLC and some redecorating
Location and the building, friendly staff and good breakfast !
Outdated rooms and very dirty. Skirting boards very dusty, carpet not hoovered, bath and toilet dirty, not cleaned properly . Cob webs in the room, ripped towels !
The shower was not working properly. From cold to hot in few seconds and back Someone from the cleaning staff entered in our room in the morning without knocking!!!!! Tiny walls, so a lot of noise from the corridor
The little touches like bags provided for wet clothes at the pool, and taking a coffee out to gardens after breakfast. The receptionist was amazingly helpful.
Extremely calm atmoshere in wonderful surroundings.
Nothing at all.
Cleanliness and friendly staff
Needs a bit of an upgrade - shabby chic?
It was a unique experience to spend a night in a hotel with such history. The interiors were appropriate for a castle and so was the service. There were magnificent views from our room, the public areas and the parklands surrounding the hotel. More choices were available in the breakfast menu than in the dinner menu of some hotels.
The wifi in the rooms could have been better, but this hardly influenced our experience.
views, scenery, swimming, walks around the grounds and so close to matlock baths
Staff (aside from being ,ocked out !) Mixed breakfast in groups Excellent porridge / breakfast Bijou room - Mews 11 location Peace & quiet Room rate
Being locked out on arrival Finding the holtel in the dark Having to leave so soon Not knowing about the swimming pool.
I nice place to relax and take In the beautiful scenery thankyou
An amazing place to stay - old fashioned yes but there aren't many places in locations as historically and culturally and geographically rich as this !
The wifi signal is only reasonable down in reception from what I could see. But the walls are made of thick stone and it's an old large building so perhaps not that surprising.
Location Price - it was a very basic, small room but was fine for the price.
Very limited wifi (patchy signal near reception but not in mews building) Limited food availability Breakfast not included
Breakfast good Very Quiet Impressive building Nice walk in the grounds Bathroom clean and modernish
Mattress was a bit solid and room quite small.
Willersley Castle is beautiful, although our rooms were in the mews it was a lovely location, close to Cromford, lots to do nearby, breakfast was nice, friendly staff.
The WiFi didn't work.
We Liked Everything
everything very good , loved having the use of free swimming pool which we had all to ourselves with lovely free towels and lovely warm showers :)
location breakfast swimming pool
rooms were tired and need of dec orating
Nice big room, clean and comfortable. Beautiful views.
Couldn't get wifi connection, only two plug sockets.
I liked location staff breakfast. After staying there I found out it was where my uncle was born in Second World War awesome. It was a hotel which was homely and friendly.
The blind in bathroom needed fixing as it was missing a piece
Loved the surroundings of the hotel and the fact that the hotel was an ex castle. Very beautiful and full of history. Surrounded by nature.
The location of the hotel was perfect with some wonderful views. Being part of the Arkwright heritage added to the stay at the hotel. The hotel was set in a relaxing setting away from the busy A6.
We paid for a double room with two single beds that were very uncomfortable. The room was in part of the hotel that was suffering from damp. The toilet and shower facilities were not very clean, and there was dirty oil cloth used as a floor covering. In the room there was very little water pressure from the cold tap and the hot water tap did not. The electric plug was unsafe on the kettle plus the chair in the room was badly stained.
The castle was beautiful and the staff very helpful. A morning swim in the pool was also great.
Our room situated in the Mews (annex to the castle), was more youth hostel. Extremely dated, cheap nasty furishings and the bathroom was appalling. Paint was flaking away from the walls everywhere, the place needed a builder not a decorator! When asked by reception if I had had a good stay I couldn't bring myself to say anything as they where helpful. We were up and out after 1 night eager to put it behind us. No wifi in the mews either. It was a cheap room at £49 but my barracks in the RN where like the Hilton in comparison!
Staff very polite and helpful, the price is value for money and exlent sightview
