Location, character (so many places I stay have no character!). Was proud to invite friends and family for the night. Some are local and didn't realise how good the place was (lovely gardens in the sunshine). Not too big and busy. Room to park the car and trailer (Oulton Park the next day) See you again sometime.
No problem with Wifi downstairs but there was no decent signal in our room. Only one other issue - the overhead shower water was too hot to use! Bath tap shower sorted problem. Minor niggles which did nothing to stop our enjoyment of the hotel break.
The people could not have been more welcoming and the four poster room we had was lovely - perfect for our 25th anniversary celebration! Lots of history behind the house, wonderful setting, good food.
Given an upgrade to the nicest room on arrival with very comfortable bed. Relaxed atmosphere of the Hotel. Located in lovely grounds, peace and quiet and a good nights sleep. Very good breakfast lots of choice. Nice evening meal
The room temperature in tthe bar during the evening could of been warmer.
From arriving until leaving the whole experence was very enjoyable. The food was excellent, especially the homemade preserves and the staff very friendly.
I was freezing cold and had to ask for a small additional heater which helped a bit. The rooms was massive and the radiators were tepid at best.
Breakfast was ok. But a wee bit slow. The bed was very comfy. But I was in it early trying to keep warm. Lovely room with great views over the garden and fields.
Bathroom a little tired
Breakfast was lovely.
Stunning setting and excellent staff
Everything was wonderful
Location was excellent surrounding gorgeous and the staff couldn't do enough for you .
Hot water too hot and combined with no thermostatic controls on shower its very easy to get burned.
Staff very friendly and helpful with good food
No beef/ steak on the menu which was a disappointment
close proximity to Chester, comfortable rooms with brilliant view. Very friendly staff
Cannot fault a thing.
Everything about our stay was perfect, from the breathtaking views and absolutely gorgeous building steeped in history to the great food, amazing room and staff who could not do enough to help, there was nothing I could fault, and we were so surprised by the price when checking out. 5 star stay for an amazing price, cant wait to return with the children, who the lovely lady on reception assured us would be well catered for, even printing some local information off the internet to show the child friendly activities nearby. Would definitely recommend.
Theres nothing to complain about.
Everything the beds, staff, food, location. Would definitely stay here again.
Wifi didn't work well in room.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Gardens were lovely.
Booked a deluxe room which was excellent, good food and very welcoming and helpful staff.
Wi-Fi was poor even though I was directly above the hub - I would not stay here again unless this was rectified as I was unable to work Despite food being excellent, the bar & restaurant lacked atmosphere
Hotel was fantastic and got upgraded to a four poster suite, food was the best I have had in a long time including breakfast offering Staff were very helpful and accommodating
Beautiful views from our room.
Staff and food was excellent, room was spacious with a fantastic view.
Beautiful room, I recei an upgrade on arrival. Really comfortable bed
Warm friendly welcome, helpful staff, good service that makes you feel at home. Independent and charming, a special place in the country, not your normal hotel. Great tasting Sunday lunch. New experienced chef trying to make a difference.
The heat in the room made it impossible to sleep, while u where able to turn off the bedroom radiator the heated towel rail in the bathroom made the temperature unbearable! The room we stayed in also needed a new bed.
Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing!
Food is poor, the pet charge is excessive at £16 plus vat , the owner came out to see me and complain about my small, neat, clean dog dressed in his vest and night attire.....unprofessional to say the least.
Front desk staff fabulous....room good
everything! Old world charm and character.
This is the best hotel we have stayed in lovely owners and staff.
Location. Friendly staff Excellent breakfast.
Slight confusion over food, well handled though
