Good location for the many walks near by. Not many places to eat in the evening if you didn't want to drive any where. Lack of toilets for public use. You need to be quite fit to get the best out of Lynton as it is very hilly. People are friendly which was very good. I would recommend the Crown Hotel for food and good service.

We really enjoyed Lynton.
We really enjoyed Lynton. We walked from our hotel in Rockford and enjoyed a pint and great fish and chips on a quiet, out of season Sunday. I imagine it's a different proposition in the Summer, but we prefer places like this when it's a bit quieter.

Lynton/Lynmouth - vey nice area. We hiked from Lynmouth up the hill - going right to pub 'the blue ball inn' - then on to Watersmeet - from there up the stream to Rockford Inn and then down to Lynmouth again.
Really nice walk!

Lynton is a nice cliff side town above Lynmouth.
Lynton is a nice cliff side town above Lynmouth. A few small streets dotted with interesting local shops, cafes and restaurants. Some amazing walks along the cliffs, head west to the valley of the rocks, look out for the feral goats on the cliff side. Lynton is connected to Lynmouth by a cliff railway which is water powered, or walk down for spectacular views.

Walking the Valley of the Rocks, beautiful views a spectacular section of the Coastal Path . The Cliff Railway is a must . Easy access to Exmoor , good walking area . Lynmouth with its history and museum dedicated to the flood disaster is a must. Plenty of pubs bars and cafes to snack in .
In Lynton/Lynlouth you need to accept that gradients are part of the charm of these adjoining villages/towns - though you can sometimes cheat via the cliff railway - and they are also a great base for exploring North Devon. The walk out from Lynton to The Valley of the Rocks is worth doing - a miniature visit to the Lakes or Peak District - and particularly easy from Driftwood and the other apartments in the block. One tip in Lynton: if you are eating out, make sure you choose well and book well in advance!
Rebecca who runs the hotel is simply lovely - so helpful and kind. The hotel is a beautiful Victorian building with stunning views of the sea. The facilities are all excellent and the beds were really comfortable. We enjoyed the extra features, like the guest lounge and the breakfast each morning was outstanding. We would highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was beautiful and spacious, lovely furnishings. The view across the bay from all of the rooms was fantastic. The manager was very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts and evening meals we had were excellent. The hotel was in eyesight of the funicular down to Lynmouth. walk from the hotel to valley of rocks had fantastic views.
The location was perfect for exploring Lynton. Our host Drew was very helpful in suggesting a nearby restaurant and booking a nearby restaurant. The breakfast was outstanding! We thought parking on the street would be a problem, but after 4pm, spaces conveniently opened up. The room was very comfortable with everything we needed.
Location was great if you like wildness and quietness. Owners very friendly. We would stay in this property again if we wanted to holiday near Lynton, North Devon. Almost a 'Home from Home'
Great place for our dog too! Nice garden for us to sit in, in the evening. Our dog liked the owners dog.
Good little woodburning stove!
Location was stunning facing the woodlands and with the sound of river Lyn / Lovely self contained flat, beautiful terrace, very well furnished, easy to walk to Lynton or Lynmouth. Bonus: they even had a bottle of wine for guests. Michelle and Lee are stunning hosts. Great holiday we had.
location is superb, easy access to the coast path and an easy drive to Exmoor. Breakfast was great, excellent quality. As a vegetarian who dislikes meat substitute products I often find problems when eating out, but not at Longmead House. The best breakfast I've had when away for years.
The location to the local area was spot on and the flat was a great size with ample space for the two of us to feel right at home. We were not expecting a great deal of life in the area but were pleasantly surprized at the wealth of shops available both in Linton and Lynmouth.
Just returned from a lovely weekend in Lynton. Drew and Penny were great hosts, so friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable and our breakfast was lovely. The location is perfect for exploring Lynton and Lynmouth and there are so many beautiful walks around.
After walking to 2 Moors way (117 miles) The Valley of The Rocks was just wonderful. The staff so friendly including Isabella at the front desk. The Seaview room more than I could ask. We didn't know Lynton and Lynmouth really, but we will now return for a long weekend.
