Comfort, location, quiet
Conservatory breakfast room very nice. Nice feel to it. Location very good, could walk everywhere we wanted to go,
Cramped car parking and the price charged for it !!
Being so close to the city centre. Having a room facing the garden. Good to use an offer to enable us to stay at the hotel. Pleasant, historical feel of the hotel.
The cost of parking the car overnight was on the high side (ten pounds). It was an expensive breakfast (ten pounds), and that is the reason we did not have it.
Booked for my wife and I, Daughter and Mother, and we were all looked after superbly. It was my Birthday on the Sunday and they laid up a table for 16 for breakfast, staff couldn't have been more helpful throughout our stay. Plus waking up in the Milner Suite to the sound of the Cathedral Bells was a wonderful start to any birthday (even with a hangover)!
Bed was comfortable athough had to make it myself after first night Easy close access to town centre
Beds not made Stains on carpet and towels No wardrobe doors or drawers in any units At breakfast - no milk on table, sideplate dirty, poorly presented cold buffet ( hot buffet acceptable),poor quality coffee obviously made in large quantity and served in a teapot. Noise of doors banging constantly - no quieteners on door closers so not guests fault. Rear intercom not working on return (10:00pm) - fortunately guest just passing door was able to let me in
Wi-Fi was sporadic
Lovely atmosphere, lovely place, lovely food.
Staff, room, and the hotel dining area smelt of sewage
Brilliant location, centre of city, no parking problems. Close proximity to cathedral, museums, places of interest. Warm, quiet, friendly hotel. Two evening meals for price of one.
We do not use a duvet. We asked for sheets and blankets which were provided.
Very clean Vey close to town centre, without being near any noise
Very hard to find if you are new to Winchester, signage could be improved. Went round the one way system a number of times before finding the correct road. Car parking fee of £10 was a surpise
Location is superb - only a few steps away from the city centre. Staff were helpful and friendly
Nothing to dislike!
The location couldn't have been better with everything Winchester has to offer in easy walking distance. The hotel was quirky with its wonky doorways and old fashioned features, but at the same time modern with the facilities and amenities in the room. A swanky cocktail style hotel bar would really top it off.
We were slightly unlucky that the room card system was broken and as it was a bank holiday when we arrived they were struggling to get it fixed. So we had to ask a staff member to let us into our room each time. I also thought the car park charge was a bit steep at £10 per day considering the room rate wasn't budget range.
room 111 has poor soundproofing The bed is too soft The breakfast selection was poor in comparison to the competition The staff were fine but not warm or welcoming The bar is sterile- we took our drinks to our room
the room and hotel was excellent. it had just been refurbished to a high standard. it is so close to the city centre and all of its amenities you could not want for more. Overall a very good Christmas break, we will be back!!!!
the fee to park in the hotel car park was a bit steep at £10 per night. we were not made aware of this when booking the hotel and we have stayed there three times before and had never been asked to pay for parking.
Room Comfortable and quiet. Well equipped. nothing lacking. Good breakfast and convenient parking
Nothing negative to comment about
Location, lovely rooms and very helpful staff
Stayed for 5 nights, wasa allocated R116 on arrival, a very small room suitable for a one nighter! Reception staff were brilliant and moved us to R111 was was excellent.
Breakfasts very mediocre the only eggs available were 'plastic' type fried and there was a very sour smell to the sausage, so much so that on the morning of 23rd Dec the smell was throughout the dining room, but it was the same everyday.
Excellent Location in centre of Winchester, comfort in gorgeous newly refurbished room, Christmasy atmosphere, helpful friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Our visit to our lovely daughter's family who live in Winchester forChristmas was enhanced by our stay in this hotel! We hope to come back soon!
Perhaps a roaring fire in lounge would have been nice but probably not feasible! The hotel would clearly need a lift given the average age of the majority of guests! That was the biggest problem I could see!
Staff, room, bar , other residents
Very comfortable bed.
No room to move in the room.
The location, perfect for shops, restaurants & the cathedral. Lovely room, very comfortable bed. Approachable & friendly staff. We have stayed here previously but not rated the breakfast very highly, much much improved.
Everything very good.
The room which looked over the garden, an oasis right in the middle of town, staff pleasant, very relaxing. will definitely stay again again,
We had difficulty with the flush, reported it, things were improved, still room for improvement
Nice garden area
Did n't have a clear entrance
Location; Parking; Comfortable bed.
Room a bit far from the main hotel. Room was cold when we entered, but soon warmed up.
