Location Car park Quiet and comfortable room. Liked the outside seating and garden - relaxing Our 'Special Rate' room was a bit shabby and tired ie bathroom fittings, ceiling floor windows needed attention. Bed linen also rather aged but still comfy.

The hotel is in a prime location for Winchester City centre being seconds away by foot, yet the hotel itself is quiet and tucked away from the hub-bub of the town. The accommodation is clean comfortable, particularily the bed, and well furnished although if boutique is what you want then it's not the place to go. The whole hotel is a bit tired decoratively but this doesn't detract from it's charm. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was first class, overall a very good experience and we plan to go back.

I found the Staff extremely helpful. I had a dietary problem at the time of my stay and Members of staff went out of their way to ensure that I had the food that was best suited to me . I loved the Garden and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity it offered whilst marvelling that I was in the centre of a busy, if small, City with plenty of traffic.I am looking forward to staying at The Winchester Royal next year. The only thing I did not like about my stay was the lack of hand rails for safety purposes in the bath. No doubt this is something that is on the "To Do" list in the Housekeeping Department?

City is a nice place and the hotel is central 1. Parking capacity is poor. Hotel need to provide better parking capacity, or offer better signage to overflow or why not call customers before they arrive ( if coming by car) to tell them the main park is full and they need to go to Parchment streer( then provide clear sat nav directions to car park).... Suggest a text and or personal call. ..

Very good atmosphere. Very good facilities I.E. lounge, bar, diningroom.easy access to historic sites and small interesting shops.Big plus having a car park but poor road sign, I missed St.Petersroad three times. Could do with a big sign, ok once in it.. A little shabby in places. Bedroom needed an facelift.

It was a very comfortable hotel with well appointed rooms and public areas. The beautiful walled garden was a good place to relax at the end of a day out. The food was good and the staff very helpful. Its central location made it an ideal place to stay whilst exploring Winchester. It was also in walking distance of the station. The loud music emanating from a wedding party on a Saturday night.

I can happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Winchester. The location is ideal. My room was in the original building, which has great character. The cost of breakfast (£10!).

You could walk out the hotel, walk down the road and be on the high street! Car park was also easily accesible and free. The room was very very cold, the heater was next to the window, and there was no large light in the room.

The central location was terrific and the city has much to offer. The Cathedral is stunning. Staff were very helpful. Room is a little dated but clean, which is more important.

Excellent location plus the benefit of car parking. the reception staff were excellent. The bathroom needs updating and voile at the windows would be a good idea - during the daytime you feel quite 'exposed' to the buildings opposite and the gardends (which are lovely)

A charming hotel with a wonderful old fashioned ambiance yet warm, welcoming and comfortable. Right in the middle of a historic city yet somehow secluded and private overlooking a lovely garden. The staff helpful and enthusiastic, the dining room overlooking the gardens a delight.

The hotel charged £28.00 for 2 breakfasts which consisted of toast an egg, bacon orange juice and coffee, Absolutely outragious!! Although this was reduced to £20 after I complained, but still too much for a pretty basic breakfast. The staff were polite but had to obey their instructions from head office I would certainly advise against staying at this hotel,

I liked the location a lot. The facilities were good, and I found that the hotel itself had a clean and secure environment. My companion came from overseas and she was impressed with the hotel as well. We took dinner one evening in the dining room and were impressed with the excellent quality of the cuisine. I did find that the facilities were tired. The wooden window frames need to be replaced by uvc to prevent the dreadful running condensation each morning. The bathrooms also need updating as well. People need to understand that they come to Winchester to admire the town and take advantage of the facilities and that the room is merely a base. The bed was comfortable and the location was quiet. In conclusion, I would recommend this hotel and I will come again. But the management do need to update the facilities in order to get rid of the "1970's feel."

The proximity to all of the major sights of Winchester city centre was perfect for me during my stay. I feel that considering that I only spent one night at the hotel it is hard to point out any weaknesses. I do however think that the room was slightly expensive for only one night and didn't include any other things such as breakfast which you would normally expect from a price like that.
