Bedroom was fantastic very very comfortable bed ..
Car parking and booking into room ...Therefore had to find somewhete to park car and then walk back and wait for the room.
A wonderfully positioned hotel in easy walking distance of the cathedral/Christmas Market, shops etc. Although the main road is very busy with traffic this isn't a problem as the hotel is positioned in a quiet side street.
No parking. I was not told I would have to park down the road in an nap. It was raining.
Convenience to city centre
Living room and bar need upgrading and a coat of paint
The location was perfect for us and had everything we wanted. Our room was isolated at the top of its own set of stairs; this would not suit everybody, but it was nice and quiet and overlooked a quiet street.
We did not like paying extra to park our car in the hotel's car park; I cannot remember having done that before. We would also prefer the cost of breakfast to be included within the base price.
Overall it was excellent service at hotel
Location and comfort of rooms Informative reception staff
No one to assist with luggage
Nice clean room and staff were helpful. Great location in the heart of Winchester.
Paid £200+ for two nights and still have to pay for parking
Very centrally located
Website unclear as to car parking - it took 1.5 hours to find somewhere to park then we had to move the car 3 hours later - we finally parked at the hotel at approx. 16:30. If we had known this was going to be a problem we would have booked somewher else.
Central location. Helpful staff
Car parking - not a lot of space
Cleanliness of room
Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable room with view of a well maintained garden.
The location for the town is excellent and it's lovely to stay in an historic building. I didn't see the gardens this visit due to being dark and gloomy (Nov).
If some quick remedial items were addressed then the stay would have been so much better. the heat and fusty stale smell hits you when you enter reception. Fresh air and reduction of heat required. The room was fine and bed ok. Breakfast was disasterous. Firstly the staff were so poorly presented and untrained. The food was awful and so similar to run of the mill hotels. No wonder you cannot prebook b'fast on-line! Given this is usually a busy time of year in Winchester I was not left asking why their occupancy seemed v quiet! It's The Old Vine for me next time - if they have rooms left!
Location was good pretty much centre of town.
Expensive for the type of room, more premier in like then posh hotel! And had to pay£10 to park!! For a £153 a night would of thought more luxurious free parking and breakfast! But no!! Wouldn't stay there again!
Sitting room/ lounge ambience and delicious mince pies. Helpful bar staff.
Stress regarding parking (arriving after dark on a rainy night by car and trying to find the parliament street car park). To find that other people in the hotel were on a same price room deal but with breakfast, mince pies and dinner included.
Great rooms fab location, looking forward to visiting in summer,
The location, a few minutes walk from the station and a few minutes walk to the town. Nice view overlooking the garden. Very comfortable, pleasant room. Great history to this hotel and we look forward to returning.
The fact there was no one to serve us at the bar. A bar bell would rectify this. Also, no one could work the coffee machine. However, these are very minor complaints in what was a very enjoyable stay.
Location Friendly staff Good breakfast Good size room Quiet
Breakfast can be a bit chaotic at peak times Bar is a bit pricey
Waiting to be served in the bar area first for coffee then later in the evening for drinks
guided tour of W Remembrance service in Cath meeting a potential House Sitting location for us in perhaps 2016
Hotel room could do with a small refrigerator. Phone to reception didn't work. Dining room needed some windows open for fresh air at breakfast.
Great comfortable bed Lovely room very spacious and clean. Staff lovely very helpful and polite Great breakfast fab sausages and bacon. Good supply of toiletries and drinks provided in the room
Bit of noise from corridors at night due to noisy neighbors banging doors. Internet was a bit patchy
Wouldnt go again there are much cheaper hotels and you dont have to pay extra for your parking and your breakfast would be in as well.
Slept like a baby
It was difficult to log into the guest wi fi
staff very helpful
room was much too hot even with radiator off and window open
Nice room, good food and breakfast
Not enough parking, so had to hike up the road. Bar had no draught Guinness, no "ordinary" tonic (just slimline) and no sauvignon blanc. I do not feel an 80 bed hotel should disadvantage the guests to such an extent just because they were changing systems or stock taking or whatever.
