Cockermouth is a pretty town with many buildings of interest. Wordsworth's birthplace is there, but it is closed in winter.
The rivers Cocker and Derwent flow through the town with banks of daffodils in spring.
Plenty of small shops, restaurants and traditional pubs as well as two supermarkets.

We were here to visit a relative and have been several times before so know the area pretty well. Plenty of places to eat or Get a drink, (alcoholic or otherwise).
Supermarkets handily placed and lots of independent shops with a side range of goods.

A terrific little town, great local shops, interesting Wordsworth Museum. Pic of us dressing up in Museum! Good town centre parking. Lots of pubs and places to eat. There's even a theatre. The whole place is old but very interestingly pictureque. We will make a habit of coming back

Cockermouth has potential but is in need of more eateries, we stayed 3 nights and struggled to find anywhere nice for meals. The Bush is a lovely pub with good food but that's all we had to choose in the area.

Broughton Craggs is a few miles from Cockermouth and well placed for the Northern fringe of the Lake District. I was walking some of the English Coast Path from Bowness on Solway to St Bees and the location was fine for doing that stretch in bits.
This was our second visit to Albion Cottage and delighted to see that the high standard had been maintained. The location is perfect and having a dedicated parking space very good. Easy walking to main shopping streets , restaurants and pubs. Also easy to get out of town to explore wider area.
Dog friendly is a must for us and plenty interesting walks can be easily made starting at the Cottage.
And thanks Jonathan for the bottle of wine and fresh milk
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and resolved any issues we had immediately. They called in the morning to ask about our stay and resolved the situation to our satisfaction. .
The breakfast and complimentary packed snack were excellent.
Good location in the centre of Cockermouth - handy for the local shops.
We were too late to book at the hotel restaurant, but ate at the Bitter End - highly recommended!
Fantastic location and a beautiful setting
Dan was very helpful as he sorted out a problem with our booking in a very friendly and accommodating way
The problem was due to me making my booking through a well known online booking service and not letting the hotel know about our request for a pet friendly room.
Dan sorted this out very professionally which was very much appreciated.
Beautiful decorated, charming, plenty of space in the garden, everything was properly functional, kitchen was well appointed, beds were comfortable. Appreciated the two separate living areas. The town is adorable and has some interesting places that are walkable. The grocery and restaurants were walkable, though the way is quite hilly.
The apartment was a good size and was in the perfect location for the centre of Cockermouth and comes with a parking spot. It was close to the river and all the shops and restaurants/bars.
We arrived and noticed that we hadn't got any towels but by the time we had been for a quick walk we got back and they had been sorted out for us.
The hotel is located above and a bit outside of Cockermouth. However, this can also be easily reached on foot from the hotel. The location is fantastic. Very quiet area; embedded in fields and trees. The hotel has a wonderful outdoor area with a gorgious view. The room was clean and tidy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Short distance to everything we have expected. Apartment was nice and clean. Hostess has provided clear instructions how to get to the property and left gifts of milk and cake for us. Comfortable bed, cosy seating area, big TV with multiple channels, shower was powerful and nice, ample parking. Impressive Georgian house
it is value for money. the owners are very responsive and helpful. the room is bigger than what we expected. very lovely and comfortable breakfast at Veeva was good., it is truly worthy of being ranked no 5 by TripAdvisor. if you ever have a chance to visit cockermouth, check out the boutique hotel and the cafe .
Lovely quiet area very comfortable and definitely would recommend and return it's great to get to most areas if you need some groceries it's a short drive to the local garage ... Head towards cockermouth roundabout 2nd exit or if you wanted a supermarket head into cockermouth

Very friendly staff, comfortable & homely feel.
Food was excellent especially the steak pie, best ever!
Location is great for the High St shops and restaurants.
Tried several hotels in the area, for me personally this rates as the best option so far.
It is a really unique place to stay in Cockermouth. Right in the centre and very quiet as it is set back from the main road. It is very cozy and it has everything you need for your stay. It is also dog friendly, which is a bonus!
Staff were excellent, special mention to Kane who couldn't do enough for us. It's a family run hotel, with the friendliness you'd hope for.
Evening meal was great.
