Score from 471 reviews Wonderful
We had 2 single beds put together, which were of different heights and firmness couldn't get comfortable
very disappointed because I was told the pool was not in service on arrival.
The place stank of sweaty builders and leftover room service was stacked in the hallway. wood chip on the walls peeling away due to damp. Overpriced at £96.00 per night wich I was ordered to pay before being handed over the room key wich is unusual normally I expect to pay on check out. Pool closed for maintenance.
Pet friendliness Excellent staff
We hadn't been contacted to tell us the leisure facilities were out of order we had particularly chosen this hotel for its facilities and pet friendliness. The facilities had been out of commission a while we should have been contacted.
The room was great, I think we got an upgrade to a balcony suite as the hotel was quiet. Its 2 min walk from the high st with a great view of the lake and has in room free wifi. The hotel itself is quite dated though with big old fashioned TVs and worn carpets etc but it has an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna and all the facilities you could need. The staff were all nice too.
Staff very efficient.
Booked a twin room for my daughter and myself unfortunately when we got to the room it was a double. The room was a lovely corner room with fantastic views but no good to us. Imagine our disappointment to then be given a smaller room with limited views.
Close to town centre. Good view of the lake from our room. Breakfast was good and staff friendly and efficient!! Plenty of car parking space.
Mattress was like concrete. Faulty radiator thermostat so couldn't turn the heating down, had to sleep with the window open all night.
enjoyed the leisure facilities.will definately visit again.highly recomend.
Close to centre and lake
Sauna was not on Having to go outside to the pool. Noisy toilet Slippery bathroom floor. Carpet was patchy with dirty marks.
For a one night stay we were not only looked after but given a fantastic room with the perfect view over Bowness and Lake Windermere
Location. Food. Great staff
Needs a face lift and could be best in the area
The pool and sauna were very nice, and the view from the lake-facing rooms is excellent.
Showers were poor, games room barely maintained, and the bed in the first room we were shown was unsuitable (although this was quickly rectified).
Views over the lake
Dirty carpet in the bedroom. Reception staff had no local knowledge.
Location and staff
It needs some tlc on the decor
Exellent and old tradidional hotel. Room good size with a view to the lake. Bathroom very big and all renewed. Stayed one night on our way from Edinburgh to Liverpool. Had an evening walk down the hill to village in the evening and a boattrip on the lake next day before driving on. Wonderful, thank you. Hildigunnur from Iceland
Staff, and helpful attitude from all. Bar, relaxing chairs. Swim, lovely and characteristically clean. Carpets and room decoration fantastic. Spartacus corridors and operational lift. Large parking area.
not particularly impressed with the evening meal
friendly staff, good food
climbing back up the steep hill
Location, open log fire, swimming pool-not used by me, view from Room 023. I would stay here again.
Breakfast was ordinary, most had been standing for a while when I ate at 08.30 and I would have liked a freshly cooked, fish option.
Everything, you can even have your dog to stay :-)
Eating out was excellent and so was the variety of shops. Everyone very friendly and helpful
Forgot how hilly Windermere was and was surprised at the amount of dogs about
Location views etc.delightful. room very. Comfortable. Hope to be back soon.
If you had your back to the hotel you could just see Lake Windermere . Leaving
Room smelled dirty and stale. Carpet had been cleaned but was badly stained and worn. Mildew and fungus growing up the old curtain linings. Rotten window frames. Dirty, stained grouting in the bathroom tiles. Dining room carpet held together by masking tape. Dog pee staining a plant pot by the lifts. Breakfast food cheap and nasty. Saw the chef tipping more fried eggs on top of the old cold ones - beware food poisoning! Warned by the receptionist not to park in the lower car park as it may not be safe . Having a shower the water collecting at the bottom of the bath was oily from not being cleaned properly. Worst of all, the shower scalded me. When I tried to run cold water over the scald the water cut out and a few seconds later splurted out boiling water. Unless you are incredibly agile it is not safe! Complained to reception, they told me off for not reporting it! Said they would e-mail manager but I have not had a response. Asked for a reduction in the ridiculously over priced rate but that was also refused.
