Location. View. Cottage out with hotel clean, modern, very good indeed.
Hotel shabby, decor very very tired and dated. No atmosphere in bar whatsoever. Breakfast mediocre. One other couple in dining room. Dining room dark, dated and oppressive.
Swimming pool closed. Inadequate sound proofing between rooms - could here every word spoken in next room - before 6am! Breakfast OK but nothing special.
Pet friendly with dog bed and bowls in the room and dog towels available at reception to dry off your soggy friend after a cold and wet walk! The food in the bar was tasty and well presented. My room was spacious and very clean.
The only disappointment was that the heating in the pool was faulty so I didn't venture into the cool water.
The staff were very attentive especially at meal times. Enjoyed the 'breakfast menu' rather than the usual buffet. Room and hotel was lovely and warm, much appreciated on a cold winters day. Would stay again.
Very comfortable hotel, rooms were luxurious and spotlessly clean, with lovely indoor pool and excellent food and service in bar and restaurant. Staff were extremely helpful and we all had a fantastic stay here.
Location, Size of room, dog friendly and the staff were friendly.
Cleanliness (a few cobwebs) and the shower needed a bit of time before hot water flowed. Due to time we needed to leave we were supplied a cereal breakfast with Toast.
Lovely huge family room. Everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Would of liked a bath in the en-suite for the kids but it didn't spoil the stay. Lovely setting. Great breakfast , certainly set you up for the day and had a meal in the restaurant on our first night as arrived after 6pm and it was great too. Good value. Would most certainly come again. Had a lovely stay. The kids even went for a dip in the pool which they loved. Lovely place.
No wifi in the room. Not flexible with dinner menu
Location was good, and the standard of our room was very good. Room 9 had great views across the lake. Staff were pleasant and breakfast was satisfactory
Although some of the decor could do with updating, the general appearance was OK
Staff generally friendly
The bar and furniture in whole bar area need an up grade and all table tops and bar tops need a thorough wash down.
Friendly staff lovely hotel excellent breakfast definitely recommended
Very friendly and helpful staff the rooms were clean and tidy nice clean beds
Very good hotel from all aspects 10 out 10
Two single beds shoved together with single mattresses not except able this day and age
Location The staff are absolutely first class The breakfasts are excellent The pool
we enjoyed everything about this hotel the best hotel we have ever stayed in it is rated as a three star hotel it should be five stars with out a doubt top class we will be staying there again next month
nothing at all
Even knowing dogs were allowed there for the blind. we did find the hotel smelt of dogs, and did not find it hygienic to find them in all parts of the resturaurant
The fact that my daughter and I had only booked in for two nights
Staff attitude, room far too hot/noisy Small portions of food- not that we were too concerned, due to the poor quality
Lovely welcoming staff. Large room Comfy bed Excellent location
Cleanliness could have been better
Comfy bed. Lovely views
Rude young staff. Assumptions about guests. Poor service from reception
lovely room lots of choice for breakfast
as it is a hotel catering for the blind, advert should suggest that the hotel caters very much for animals, hotel had a strong dog smell. Bar tables sticky to touch, even when wiped, staff polite but not friendly polite, one morning a couple wanted to have dreakfast in the conservatory, but someone had used that table and all 3 staff said they had to eat in the dining room instead of relaying the table again, the couple refused and stayed put, if would have only taken the staff 2 minutes to set the table as it was only am (they said they couldn't use it as it would be getting layed for lunch)) poor customer service. evening meals more like basic pub food. It you need a taxi book early
Breakfast was good. Braille for the blind was very good to see.
I was not aware from the web site the hotel catered for blind with their dogs. Dog hairs on stair carpets which had not been vacuumed for the 3 days we stayed, if our daughter had been with us she would had suffered from serious complications. Staff could not provide information on local walks..
Our room and the location
Some members of staff, a little less than enthusiastic
Leisure facilities were good if a little on the small side. Room was clean and bed comfortable.
Would have liked a larger choice on the dinner menu.
We booked last minute and loved the Hotel. It's about a mile and half walk into Windermere and path's not very well lit/sensible shoe's are a must if you are walking into the village. It was clean and everyone very friendly.
Bed was a liitle bit hard for my liking.
It was homely and warm, close enough to the station.
The description doesn't tell you that it used to only accommodate blind people so it was a bit confusing. Close to station but a bit hard to find. Also it is not the nicest decor, which is understandable but should be noted.
