The station was near by. The hotel exterior looked good. I had to open through 4 doors to get to my corner room. There was no hot water on my first day. Breakfast was horrible. Hot water and cold water provided on 2 separate taps very inconvenient .

Location Hotel very hot ,had to sleep with window open, duvet poor quality, kept sliding off bed ,no sheets!. Breakfast very poor, 1 small rasher of bacon ,1 chipolata sausage, cold beans and egg.Very disappointed as I had stayed here before and it was very good, it seems that they have spent money on the bar and foyer areas and scrimped on others, will never stay here again. When asked about our stay at checkout receptionist said we should have requested a room change ,lost for words when I told her that it was!.

We booked this hotel last minute for a one stay. It was comfortable, and overlooked Windermere village. Room was a little small and could have felt brighter. Perhaps the decor could be updated.

Price mainly. Bathroom let it down in terms of cleanliness...marks in the toilet bowl and below the waterline...should have been bleached and cleaned properly before we arrived. Convenient location. Comfortable beds...clean linen. Basic, but acceptable.

Beautiful period building in typical Cumbrian style but recently given a modern feel which is very befitting. Some earlier comments mention drafty old windows but these are original features of the property which no one in their right mind would want to replace and are a welcome feature to anyone who appreciates historic design. The staff were lovely, very friendly and cheerful and although our stay was brief they made us and our 16 month old little girl feel very welcome. It was very clean and had everything required for a short or long break. Unfortunately we cannot comment on breakfast as we checked out before it was served due to my wife being a photographer and wanting to leave to catch photographs of the sunrise over the lakes. All in all we were very happy with our stay and hope to return soon.

the staff were very helpful and friendly. . Food although nice was tepid . Room was very cold . Thought that having to pay for a parking space when staying at the hotel is disgusting! If we hadn't have paid there were no spaces left so we would have had to park a good way away and I was there with my elderly mother.

It's in a lovely, convenient location and although we were only staying one night, everything was very clean and comfortable with large rooms and plenty of 'extras'. The room was very clean, but just a couple of things missed in the bathroom - the extractor fan had not been cleaned for some time and the bath mat had black mould on it.

A woman in charge there who woke people up there as extremely rude . We didn't get told that check out time is 10 am in the morning as we had a late check in . One guy was on desk just give us the key . Went to the room went sleep straight away, a rude hedious woman open the door walked in without knocking at 9:30 , yelling at me and my friends to wake up , happened the same to my other friends couple in another room , and bare in mind one of them is really ill and told her that she wasnt well. After I cam down to reception , the woman was complaining non stop , with extremely rude and ignorant attitude. Worst stay ever , please don't come to this hotel Staff especially one rude lady

As a regular visitor to the lake district Windermere hotel has the rudest staff I have ever come across. The cleaners, reception and waitors do not even deserve to have jobs and they made my 3 night stay so bad I only stayed one night. I do not recommend this hotel to anybody who wants a nice experience. Even if you voice your complaint to the manager about the wicked old cleaner he is just as bad, I figured she could be his wife. Yes it's clean, breakfast is oily next time I will stay closer to the lake as this is a 10 min drive. My previous hotels past month were much nicer they were hydro hotel and macdonald hotel I recommend those, not this sham.
