Location and Car Parking
Steps in Annex
very nice hotel. good location.
there was very little entertainment, we expect to be entertained in a hotel of this size, entertainment three times a week is not enough. we did not like having to pay five pounds a day car parking in the hotel grounds.
Staff were without exception happy friendly a.nd efficient.
Dining area too small.
Staff were very helpful and efficient.
Staff were very attentive but for restaurant maitre d. Good location. Lovely building
The room was very dirty - black mould on the windows and bath plumbing. Thick band of ingrained dirt around bathroom skirting. Broken window pane. Asked to share a table when there were a number of other 2 seater tables available. It was too much effort to set one.
Location in lake district. Room itself was fine.
The shower didnt work at all. No water came out. The hot tap on wash basin was literally a dribble. Some other reviews state similar problems so looks as tho this is ao g term problem. The room was at the back with a spectacular view of 4 sq yrds of concrete. Just wasnt worth £85.00 for 1 night. The cooked breakfast was nice but incredibly small 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, 1hash brown, 1 egg, cheap baked beans, 1/2 of a tomato. Just not worth £85.00 a night. Parking spaces all reserved for no one. Hotel wants to charge their own customers £5.00 to park in a hotel which is already not worth the money!!! You could stay in a bradford and have a better view, better breafast and a room with a shower that works, for £40.00 a night Shame really this is so poor value
Clean tidy room ,good breakfast
Good choice for Breakfast and excellant location
Tailored to older people, very small bedroom for £105 per night, bathroom covered in mould and in desperate need of updating. Too hot in rooms to be able to sleep
Broken handle on door
Nice view from the room window
Hotel has seen better days
The lounges, a bit grey and like waiting rooms.
Friendly staff,great views
extra charge for parking whilst only 5 pound had no other option then to pay it,should be included in room price
Really convenient location, close to the railway station. Friendly staff and room very clean, with adequate facilities.
The bed was really awful and I didn't sleep much as I had metal bits digging into me all night. I reported this in the morning, and was told (rather abruptly) that the mattress would be changed. He said they depend on customers to let them know, as if it wasn't their fault at all but mine! I was quite surprised that there was no apology or attempt to make reparation. Not impressed!
Some of the staff were friendly.
Poor shower facilities. Was offered option to shower in adjacent room which didn't work. Then offered another room which was not easy to use. After walking in lakes, hot shower eases tiredness. Very disappointed this hotel couldn't get basics right.,
Location and helpful staff
Very dated decor, tired looking. Our room had ceiling paper coming off, maybe a result of a leak from above. The toilet seat did not fit the bowl. Sound proofing to corridor non-existent. cobwebs in dining room, and rest of hotel appeared not very clean. Was offered alternative room, after complaining to Manager and taking pictures. Hot cooked breakfast served cold, and just one slice of toast offered per person. We would have been better off in Premier Inn - cheaper too.
good location,nice restaurant facilities
difficulty to access upper floor with only old,two person capacity elevator. old creaking floor, room poorly ventilated, windows not permissible to open. No wifi inn rooms, extra charge for parking. No refund for early departure.
The staff were polite and pleasant.
Standard room was very disappointing, marked walls and mould in bathroom along with an unpleasant smell, had to upgrade to a superior room which cost £50 extra. However, this room had a shower that did not work satisfactorily, we informed reception twice, but this was not corrected. Decorative cushion on bed was stained. The room itself was in need of an update.
We loved the grandness of the building and the history. The grounds were beautiful a very tranquil property. The breakfast was fabulous as was our dinner.
The staff were not welcoming at all.
Room needed refurbishment . Damp on walls , Lino in bathroom old and didn't fit . Generally shabby room
Uselss and unfriendly staff. Cheap room locks which don't seem secure. No baggage area. Ceiling was cracking in my room. The hotel layout is like a maze.
1. Good location which is closer to bus stand and railway station. Good for some one like me who did not have a car 2. 20 min walk to oakhead view point
1. Reception being very strict about checkin at 3 pm eventhough i felt room was available much before that. 2. I had to literally beg the receptionist to give us a room as it was raining and we could not go out.I had a 3 year old and still they were not accomodative and gave us the room at 2.45 and was told if they found someone cleaning there i should not be surprised. I had specifically told that I will be coming early and checking out early. Still they did not bother to accomodate special requests. I felt receptionist was overworking and needs a break 3. Hotel was full of old couples and not so happening. 4. Rooms were small with a 22 inch TV. Entire day was raining and we were given a room with view of parking lot with a 22 inch TV 5. Breakfast was served on the table unlike what i am used to which is choose from buffet. I was not sure if the breakfast was unlimited or not. But did not like it being seved as i felt too shy to ask for more items. 6. Overall hotel looked like a miserly place
Location was good, everything clean and tidy and staff friendly overall
The rooms are very small, we had a shower that wouldn't regulate properly and there was a mass of coach travellers dropping on the restaurant at breakfast time. On the breakfast subject, portions were tiny and when I ordered mine whilst the waiter was bringing coffee (to save some time) he told me that I had to finish my cereal before he's take the order. Took me back to school lunches!
I have never stayed at a dirtier hotel before. Ventilation in the room was most awful. The shower was as good as a dripping tap! Not sure why booking.com would ever feature a hotel so dire?
Mediocre breakfast Dated bedroom and bathroom Parking charge of £5 advertised (although we weren't charged) Bar closed at 10pm on a Friday night!
