Sylvia and her Nick could not possibly be better hosts. There were friendly, kind, and very helpful. There was not one staff member that was not very helpful as well as being incredibly efficient. The room was very recently renovated and far exceeded our expectations. It was a beautiful room with everything we could want. The shower was exceptionally good and everything was incredibly clean. The breakfast even included the choice of smoked salmon - unheard of!!! We were even accommodated with very early breakfasts when we had to leave on tours as early as 4:45 A.M. The location is in easy walking distance to Victoria Station and tons of other things. A staff member even called us when he realized our tube plans would not work because of a closure on the tube. We would not have been aware and our plans would have been spoiled. We hope to go back soon - what a wonderful place with wonderful people!!! There was nothing negative about this hotel. The room was small but there was so many wonderful things the room size did not bother us and did not bother us in the least - for the price - you could not go wrong.

Very friendly reception. Shown facilities of hotel and to my room. Room small (it's what I booked) but very clean. Probably one of the best steaks (for dinner) that I have had in London. Check-out quick and efficient.

We really liked the friendliness of the owners on arrival and as it was our Ruby Wedding Anniversary they upgraded our room free of charge, which was a lovely touch. It was lovely to have a cooked breakfast made to order, instead of the bacon, sausage, eggs etc being left to dry out on hot trays!! The waitresses in breakfast were also very efficient and friendly. Will definitely use this hotel again.

The staff were excellent and the rooms were very clean, a good breakfast and the chef was very polite, friendly and hospitable which all made for a very nice stay. There was some work being done but this caused no disruption or disturbance to our stay at all. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, many thanks to all the helpful staff

The room was beautifully furnished with inlaid designs on the wood bedsteads. Although a bit cramped, not claustrophobic, and sunny with the street level huge windows. Really appreciated the helpful and professional and personable staff. We would definitely book there again. Excellent value. A minor thing -- the towels were scratchy.

The chap on reception was really helpful. He even showed me to my room which no-one has done for years! To describe the room as compact would be doing a disservice to all compact rooms. It was tiny, and on the Lower Ground floor so not too much light. I guess the price I paid is reflected in the room, and this was central London, so I never expect a big room, but this was probably the smallest room I have ever stayed in. This didn't matter much to me as I was only in it to sleep, but its worth pointing out.

Location and breakfast excellent. Hotel very quiet and peaceful. No noise at night time. Reception staff very helpful. Our room was not like the photos on the website. We were in a corner room at the top of the building. The room was triangular in shape, the floor was slanted, had dips in it and the bathroom resembled a narrow closet, you wouldn't want to be too big. That said it was very clean.

The welcome at Reception was excellent and the man on duty couldn't do enough to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We had an early meal at the hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the standard and quality of the cooking and food. The chef was particularly pleasant and attentive. The meal was excellent. On checking out we were asked if we would like to leave our bags at the hotel for the day - a first! And a nice touch. Breakfast was a little crowded as the hotel was full. In terms of value for money, we have stayed at more central hotels in London for less. However, we needed this location on this weekend and I'm sure that we chose well.

Great staff , very helpful. The location is perfect for all the major sights. The breakfasts are very good and the food in the restaurant is fine. Very safe area with small shops and restaurants up the street. Easy access to the west End to see a show. Would stay there again. Triple/family room a bit small for three people. Bathroom - paintwork , etc could do with a bit of work. Would say its a good three star but not a four star.

We were greeted warmly by the owner, who took us up personally to our room and made sure we had everything we wanted. The room was modern in style and decoration, but still in keeping with the beautiful old building. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly as were the staff in the breakfast room. The breakfast was first class, we had a lovely bowl of fresh fruit followed by scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. We would certainly return and thoroughly recommend this privately run hotel. There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Comfortable room and bed. Good quality toiletries in bathroom and bathrobe in wardrobe. Excellent breakfast, decent 'decaf' coffee and hot fresh toast. Also only five minutes walk from Victoria Station but on a well lit road, definitely not a 'backstreet', but at the same time quiet. We will stay again. Pillows not quite up to the standard of the rest of the hotel, but it didn't stop us sleeping.

The staff is very supportive and very friendly , provides helpful tips to enjoy better London.. More interesting to deal directly with the owner Nick and his wife and see how much he is developing the Hotel day by day hands on. Small Rooms as most of london hotels Lack of facilities (gym, swimming pool, open loopy)

This is the second time I have stayed at the Windermere. I returned because I had a good stay last time and I will stay again in future as long as the price remains competitive. The owners, who were on reception when I arrived, are extremely friendly and welcoming. Although I arrived before checkin time, they were happy to look after my luggage until I could get back later. My single room was effectively upgraded to a double bed at no extra cost. The room was clean, warm, tidy, comfortable and the bathroom is nicely appointed with a simple, stylish design. There is a friendly 24 hour reception, which meant that getting back late from an event in Covent Garden was no problem. Breakfast, which is included in the price, is extremely good value. Travelling to London monthly as I do, it's nice to know there's a good hotel at a reasonable price. (I have paid more and fared far worse in the past.) Many thanks to the Windermere.

Pretty good location and very friendly reception. Room was very clean and comfortable and reasonably priced for central London. Breakfast was really good. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back. I found the breakfast staff alittle casual, but taht's a minor point.

“It is in a great location; walking distance to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and parliament, and St, James Park. Our room was very comfortable and quiet.
