The building and room, quietness (except when a noisy fan came on at 3.30 for about 15mins). wc cistern dodgy, whb drained very slowly, tasteless scrambled egg, sausages, bake beans and mushrooms, the only thing that had any real taste the bacon!

Our stay was subjected to constant problems - the general staff attitude was appalling and it was clear guests were there only to inconvenience them. The only shining light was the duty manager who we discussed our concerns with on the final day.

Well-situated with lovely surroundings. Staff very friendly. Excellent bar/restaurant. Room not as clean as it could have been-blonde hair in bed and a couple of woodlice in the bathroom! Very noisy at night- nightstaff didnt check corriders and we were woken a number of times by people running through the corridors, banging on doors and at one point, a girl vomiting near out door.

My room had a musty smell which I eventually realised was from vomit that had not been property cleaned properly. (housekeeping had not double checked the room after it was cleaned) The chairs were worn and one was tatty with the stuffing coming through the upholstery cover

This was my second visit and I just adore the spa treatments that are on offer - the spa staff is really professional. I also love the big and clean swimming pool and sauna. Lovely!

The facilities within the public areas were excellent. Having booked a superior room I found this to be very small. My self and my wife were competing in a road cycle race at the weekend and required the space for kit and equipment in order to prepare however, given the small nature of the room this was not possible. Given that this was a superior room, I booked it expecting there to be more space than the double but this was not the case so was rather dissapointed.

Location was lovely. I was a little disappointed, although there was a large conference on I felt that the breakfast service was poor. I have been to other hotels where conferences have taken place and there has been no effect on service, however it is very poor when entering the dining area to be ushered to a small side room and told to "wait 5 minutes" because the food isn't ready! They knew the conference was on and so should be organised and ready for any eventuality?

Just the right distance away from Reading town centre and near enough to the University. Friendly reception staff on arrival and on departure. They were extremely busy as a convention was on the weekend we stayed but a couple of requests made to them were not too much trouble. Would definitely stay again.

My one and only complaint is the blocking of mobile internet connections and the non existence of mobile connection for my 3 phone....I Would not book this venue if I was organising a conference because of this. Connection wise it was like being in the 19th century, other than that, perfect, I have booked again in july.

When I booked I was told the price included breakfast but when I checked in I was told it did not. A friend who booked a room at the same time as me paid the same price and was put on the list for breakfast. There was lots of cobwebs and bird poo on the patio windows which did not open as they were locked. Bird poo all over my car which was parked in your car park - I had to go pay to get my car cleaned as I could not get it off myself. 11Am check out too early. Fittings were very tired looking. Lack of directions to rooms and lifts - confusing.

Only stayed one night - were there for a family wedding. Very comfortable rooms - wish we could have stayed longer. We downloaded booking form from internet. Unfortunately, the postcode for the hotel was incorrect and our satnav took us to the local dump! We informed the receptionist and he told us that the internet address was the old one(!) and that it hadn't been updated.
