Great rooms, great golf, staff helpful and friendly. The food at the hotel was atrocious, with it being isolated (15 mins drive to Reading) this made it difficult to get out. More effort is required as a hot (lukewarm) buffet is not what i expect from a De Vere.

We were using the hotel for an overnight stop, would have liked to have used the golf course. Long walk to the room, restaurant food average (carvey and no Yorkshire Pudding with the beef) and swimming pool only heated to training temperature not comfortable for a leisure swim.

The staff on reception, especially one called Natalie was extremely kind and helpful and genuinely nice. All cleaning staff were friendly as were the kitchen staff including the cook. We were staying on the 3rd floor which had a balcony and stunning views of the park - it was extremely relaxing. We were able to sit out on the balcony and watch the sun go down. One night I saw a deer near my balcony which was beautiful. Rooms were serviced every day and in the main area near reception there are coffee and tea facilities, as well as in your room. There is a pool that you can go in with a jacuzzi which was also very relaxing. We were able to walk around the park and the lakes that are there and there was a very good and reasonably priced pub called Horse and Groom nearby in Mortimer village. I didn't go to the spa but it looked very enticing and had I had the money I would have definitely gone there too. Thank you for 3 lovely days and nights. The bar also looked nice as did the restaurant but we did not go in these as it was a little too much for our pockets! However, had we been able to, we would have done as it all looked very delicious!

The cheap deal I got but it was only for 1 night and I needed 4. I would never pay the full price here as its only worth 40 a night at the most for a room The gym wasn't a gym. 1 cycle 2 treadmill couple of steppers and a weight bench. Changing rooms are only ment to take 4-5 people at a time.

The setting. How clean it was. The bar area was welcoming, the food was well presented and enjoyable. Not really complaints Just pointers: The maze of corridors to the room, the signs were not clear as they were too small. The receptionist did not inform us of how to work the card type key so we took a long time to enter our room, a chambermaid luckily came by. We were not informed that the coffee machines in the lobby were free of charge, a friend who had stayed previously informed us of this once we returned. The Jacuzzi was not working, a regular member said it had been like this for a while....

I got a good price on the room Hotel was cold, staff were unfriendly, food was poor quality, bed linen was dirty, room was a not what I would expect of a De Vere hotel, apparently the room was due to be refurbished.

Staff were friendly and helpful Eating facilities were very limited and disappointing. I would have expected more to be available than a buffet dinner and a small bar menu. It also felt odd to be walking to our room through the dining room, although that might be that I took an odd route - the layout was rather confusing

Convenient Room had single beds, asked for double. 1 single was narrow. Bathroom sink was dirty around plug and behind taps. Very tired room. Hotel also said they did not have the booking details on arrival. Having problems with booking.com

We were attending a Ball so the hotel accommodation had to be on site. We have stayed several times over the last 10 years or so for the same purpose. The location would be ideal for shopping in Reading too. Staff are always polite and helpful. The layout is confusing but we had been before so it wasn't too bad. I was, however, suprised to find a man in my room when I first went there as it had been double booked! This was quickly rectified by the hotel staff though.

Very nice and really enjoyed the stay. Absolute bargain for the price I paid. The shower wasn't very good. One minute it was freezing cold and then move it a millimetre and it was scorching hot.

Friendly staff, especially with the event. Lovely location. Room was very dark and the bathroom could do with upgrading, the fan when the light turned on was very loud and the shower hard to work. There was a lot mould round the tiles. The room was very hot.

Convenience and loaction The decor, furntiure and carpets were in need of replacement. The carpets were stained, particularly in the corridors. The desk in the bedroom was very tatty and covered in cup marks and needed replacing or at least, stripping and revarnishing. Finding my room and getting back to reception was difficult due to the poor signposting. The staff at breakfast were hopeless. They did not get me any tea until I asked. The table was not laid properly and I had to get spoons from another table. The food was poor. Overall, very poor, but you get what you pay for. I paid £35.

Good location, set in own grounds. Large room with views over the golf course. More of a conference centre than a hotel, so lacks a homely feel.

My husband and I attended a sunday wedding and booked in for 2 nights. We both agreed it was the most beautiful venue we had every been to. The staff were very friendly. We had a lovely sunny room. The standard of our breakfast and evening meal was excellent and in a beautiful setting. My husband even got to watch his football team on telly in the friendly bar. The hotel is not well signposted especially arriving after dark and many guests arrived late due to getting lost
