Location and surroundings are excellent. Bar and restaurant very good and swimming a nice touch.
Decor and facilities all a little tired and worn. But refurbishment in progress and the investment is visible.
Gorgeous receptionist. Bow in her hair.
Price of a pint
The large site had a wide range of leisure facilities and healthy meal options
The site is large with several separate hotels, there was no clear signage about which hotel and entrance to use and where to check in! This caused huge confusion with many guests. The facilities looked a bit tired and lacking investment, i.e the swimming pool, shower etc. The room was ok. The restaurant seemed to be set up for course attendees and not for other users of the hotel. My bill did not even show that I had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant, I had to remind them.
Well located to Reading and M4 in beautiful surroundings. Well appointed, clean. Nice size rooms and good breakfast.
It is a large hotel and a bit anonymous but really I'm being rather picky.
Why does the hotel suddenly become an executive centre? Hotel reception inefficient and ambience reminds one off a down at heel High Street. Trying to sell itself as upmarket - not there yet.
Only the room was adequate
Virtually everything; the supposed award winning restaurant was no better than an average school dining room, inadequate choice of menu, part self service & part served up like a school dinner, the food both at dinner & breakfast was cold, & the quality sub-standard; worse than a mediocre transport cafe. Will never make the mistake of staying there again! The hotel accommodation & facilities bore no resemblance to the website; was led to believe that the accommodation was in the main mansion building depicted in the photo, but was in a modern annexe titled 'The Executive Centre'; was like staying overnight in a BMW dealership showroom!! What a rip off!!!
Friendly reception staff Nice shower and bathroom
Hard bed - very uncomfortable Food in the bar was cold and expensive, as was the buffet Lights in the room had to all be turned on at individual switches, no ceiling lights. Only one socket available
The room was fantastic but that's what I paid for and expected
Had to walk from one site to the other to eat due to restraunt being used for an event So we had a bar meal my meal turned up quickly my wife's took 35 minuets this meant we ate separately the manager said I had been given someone else's meal very poor! Next morning we had again to walk to the other site for breakfast this was a nightmare because they ran out of food the staff complained that too many people from the event had gone to this makeshift breakfast room This is a DeVere hotel !! The amount I paid for a quality room was badly let down by both the food and very, very , poor service no one seemed to care
Leisure facilities were great, free coffee a nice touch.
We felt the stay was cold and unwelcoming. We weren't even asked when leaving whether or not we had enjoyed our stay. We didn't have a nice room. Peeling paint above the bath, black bits in the bath, marks and stains around sink. The pillows smelt of dirty head like they'd been slept on before. The room was old and tired looking with stained carpet and musty smell. We felt so let down as it was booked for my wife's birthday. We do a lot of hotel breaks and chose it because it looked lovely on the internet, we normally stay up until booking out time but on this occasion couldn't wait to leave and left at 8.30 in the morning not even eating breakfast.
Reception staff friendly.
Signage to the rooms and tatty paintwork and finish.
The entrance off the road is not lit, so i nearly drove past it as its on a dark country road. There are two hotel buildings and your not told at the time of booking which one your staying in. Parking isnt great. The first room i was put in had no working lamps, the housekeeper changed the bulbs but still didnt work, I was moved to another room and only half of them worked in there! I wont be staying there ever again.
Nothing really - it provided a bed for weary travellers
The shabbiness of the room, prices in the restaurant, lack of personality and atmosphere. This hotel is for people travelling on business - don't expect anything else.
The receptionists on the front desk were very efficient, friendly dealt with my requests immediately - cannot praise them enough, a credit to your company.
I had been working for 14hours, very tired, asked for two glasses if wine, signed first for them then waited half an hour before i called reception who said they would sort out. It arrived about 10 mins later! Then when checking out, was shown a bill for two separate orders. This was sorted out by reception but after a long and stressful day didn't need this at 10.15pm. Otherwise a good experience
The food in the restaurant/canteen was terrible, I sat there with every other table covered in unwashed dishes. The waitresses were rushed of their feet however the manager must have felt too important to carry plates. The floorboards are chipboard therefore you can hear every footstep on the landings. My room was right next to the door for the corridor, therefore I was often woken by one or two of the louder slams.
The picture is very misleading of the actual hotel, it is modern and very like being in a school or college.to check in there was a massive queue, rooms are basic.was looking forward to staying in a country house and got something else completely
Free Tea's Coffee around hotel. Buffet Breakfast
Out of the way location Poor Bar Dinner Menu Very expensive drinks Dull swimming pool//Sauna area Poor bathroom finish
Food in bar disgusting, we sent it back. Beer was flat.
Room lovely, free hot drinks a nice touch
Location, bedroom AOK, Pool great
Check in slow - it was night staff rather than usual reception team
The hotel corridors and rooms on the ground floor were filthy, dead insects all over. The rooms were disgusting with paint and wall paper coming off. Never going back!!!!
Housekeeping was very good
The rooms were quite dated with sub standard appliances
View from second room. Free coffee.
Directions in grounds, welcome at reception, location of first room, breakfast, leisure club facilities (sauna door broken, jacuzzi out of action), errors at book in/out. Executive room doesnt mean its an upgrade from standard it means its in a modern block away from the main hotel. All executive twin rooms have full disabled access and on the ground floor just off reception. Could go on.....won't be returning.
Very comfortable room, the best night's sleep I've had in a hotel in a long time. Loved the breakfast and evening buffets - good quality food, freshly prepared.
The computer system creeks so it took ages to book in and out, and to book for meals. The wifi was very unreliable
Grounds excellent, price was very reasonable
Not clear where you should park given such a large place.
Surely staff Being charged for cancelled room even though cancelled in accordance with booking policy Waiting 10 days for a refund No quiet areas anywhere Average food Tired rooms One if the worst hotel experiences I have had
