Gorgeous pet-friendly hotel in a beautifully refurbished and decorated building, nice gardens and lovely staff. Bed - the most comfortable we have ever experienced- and we've experienced a few. Bathroom- super- lashings of hot water, splendid bath /shower and decor etc but with comments! Niggly issues existed and could be so easily resolved such as 1) toilet seat doesn't stay up (room 4) - surely could be fixed. 2) On arrival only one bath towel for a double booking but was sorted. 3) Replenishment of Tea/Coffee/ Milk was incomplete on second day of stay but was sorted. Staff were so pleasant and keen to resolve any problem it seems a shame to identify dislikes! This hotel is lovely but needs a simple houskeeping checklist and a maintenance walkdown to make it superb and surpass the competition.

The room was spacious and clean. The heating was turned off during the night (and it was quite cold); the internet was slow and not very stable.

Fantastic beds! Mattresses the same as the Queen's and pillows to match. Excellent reasonably priced gourmet food in newly opened brasserie (main courses mostly below 15 pounds). Friendly staff. Great shower. Quiet at night after 11pm so fantastic nights sleep. Bathroom needed updating but everything spotless and working, just old fashioned compared to room decoration. Our room didn't have much of a view but again, it didn't detract from room comfort. Some noise from below until 11pm (room above restaurant) but very peaceful at night and to be fair, this did not disturb us.

Room and food Not being told at point of check in, loud music was going until 01.00am in morning. Instead a letter was put under door after check in ( very sneeeky ) if we had been told this we would not have booked in. Due to lack of sleep it spoilt our business trip as we had a 630 mile round trip. Also doors slamming at 4.30am in morning due to door closers not being correctly adjusted. A shame as a former village resident had highly recommended it (chalkie white)

cosy and location. A great base for seeing Pembrokshire Two of our 4 nights stay had weddings which for 2 consecutive nights meant we weren't able to get to sleep until after 1:30am there is an attic room above Room 28 ....very noisy.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. At dinner my maincourse was fine, but my pudding - white chocolate mousse with raspberry and vodka sorbet was a work of art and absolutely delicious. My room (16) was standard, the door handle to the bathroom had a sharp spring poking out of it, but your receptionist Carolyn checked that it was in working order by locking herself into the bathroom, and letting herself out again ! The double socket on the wall had a lamp and the tv plugged into it. When I unplugged the lamp so I could plug in the kettle, the TV turned off, but came back on when I plugged the kettle in! The painted wallpaper.

Good location. Breakfast started at a good hour (7.00am). Food and service were both very good. Adequate parking. Wi-Fi worked well in the public areas (and was free). Howver, it was promised that it would work in our room and this was not the case. Not a huge problem but slightly inconvenient.

We stayed in 2 rooms; standard and executive and both had lovely decor, were extremely comfortable and relaxing - great as a weekend break. Rooms were extremely clean, especially the bathrooms, which had amazing showers! Staff on reception were polite, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were fine, but not brilliant choice for me as a vegetarian - I had to ask for things which were not on the menu, rather than being offered alternatives. The staff in the dining room for breakfast were fine, but were not as helpful, professional as in the main reception [who were very helpful]. Overhead one staff member telling a guest at breakast that she had not received her tea after a very long wait because they were 'busy' - a pet peeve of mine! Otherwise, an excellent stay!

The food quality was excellent and the restaurant staff were excellent too. Drabness in the room due to lack of windows and very cramped generally because it was very small for a double room. The window was at the back of the bed and too high too small and too high with no view at all.
