It served its purpose quite adequately
nice quiet stopover on way to southampton cruise. very friendly staff and good food. lovely drive down to cruise in morning through the new forest, lovely to see the wild ponys, all in all a very pleasant experience
A little hard to find but worth the effort.
Room was adequate. Evening meal was very nice, staff friendly.
Room needed refurbishment and a good clean.
Convenient locality to where we wanted to be. Restaurant provided excellent evening meal
Lavatory had clearly not been cleaned properly, faeces stain in pan. Difficulty sleeping because of the noise in the restaurant/bar area until well into the early hours.
Evening bar food excellent. Friendly staff. Dogs welcome. Great location.
Hard pillows. Bathroom could do with some TLC.
The breakfast was fantastic The staff were friendly The room was clean and tidy
Could hear angry chef shouting and swearing from the kitchen! Bathroom a little tired (but clean) Noise from the pub carried quite loudly up to the room
good breakfast, leaving
uncomfortable bed, room was in need of redecoration, very noisy we could hear bar noise also refrigeration noise all night, 6am barrel delivery, our room was directly above the back door. On our first night we didn't arrive until about 8;50pm after a very long journey and by the time we checked in were to late to eat so we thought on our second night we would make sure we were there in good time(before 9 pm) we didn't book as we were off sight seeing but managed to be back and tried to order at 7;45pm but was then informed that no more food orders were being taken and recommended a neighbouring pup or takeaway after we enquire where could we get some food. Stairs up to rooms very narrow.
Breakfast, responsive shower.
Badly creaking floor in room 1, must be disturbing for room 3. No glass for toothbrushing. WiFi in rooms very poor.
Great B&B, lovely food, friendly efficient staff
Bed was very comfortable, breakfast excellent, dinner faultless and a good supply of beers. Very friendly place to stay and would have no hesitation to stay there again. Staff very helpful and friendly.
the food was huge portions !
It just needs a facelift .
Beverley was so friendly and helpful as were the bar staff we had contact with Breakfast was lovely....hot and freshly cooked served in a lovely room
The man called Alan..he did not appear friendly or make us feel welcome. When we came in that night he did not acknowledge us and at breakfast time he also ignored us. Someone said he was the owner or landlord......having worked in the hospitality area I know how vital this is to a business
The food was good, the room comfortable and it was a nice location. There was a friendly ambience in the bar and breakfast was great.
We were in room 7 where the bathroom was too small. We were hot in the night but couldn't open the window because of the humming from the extraction system.
Comfortable bed. Excellent food. Friendly staff.
Noise from the bar
friendly helpful staff, lovely pub! room cosy nice feel and loved the fire places. good room maids cleaned room everyday and refilled hot choc tea coffee etc
kettle was faulty bed wasn't comfortable and the bathroom could do with a revamp.
The pub atmosphere and excellent food
Fire doors are a bit tough to open and shut--not sure they couldn't be updated
Good food in the pub/restaurant downstairs. Close to reasonable walks in northern New Forest and to Salisbury, Reasonable price.
Bar a bit of a local yokels place. Double bed was actually two singles with rather a pronounced join between them. Didn't bother us, but other travellers should note that the bar downstairs is quite lively friday night (should you be an early-to-bed type).
Good service ,great food, the best crackling in the world !
Staff were friendly and helpful Excellent food Great location
Room was very dingy and unclean, It was right at the top in an attic....would stay again but in a different room
We liked the location because it was tucked away from the main road. Glad we had a GPS with us. Everything we expected from a English Country Pub.
The stairs were a bit steep, but as Australian's we are not used to this. And because we are travelling for 6 weeks we did have a fair bit of luggage.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Quiet location
Only problem was that the room had been freshly painted and being an asthmatic it made my breathing difficult. Would have liked breakfast to have been included rather than extra.
Friendly pub with good restaurant and good choice if food.
Saturday breakfast was too late for us (9 to 10am) an 8am breakfast would of been better
Lovely location, friendly staff and a great English cooked breakfast
Friendly staff and good sized room. I really liked my room because it's got a bathtub!
