Friendliness of staff, up-to-date room and bathroom, quiet location. Dining was a little too formal but the food was good. There was no fire in the lounge/drawing room, which would have been very welcoming after being out all day in the cold, damp weather. |

A beautiful building in the best English countryside. Comfortable Lounge and Bar. Bedrooms and Bathrooms luxuriously appointed. We arrived to find the Hotel in a state of chaos due to wedding guests arriving. We waited for nearly two hours for the room to be prepared. The reception desk was inundated with arrivals so my wife and I were completely ignored until after 4 p.m.when I was able to ask if the room would ever be ready. We asked on two occasions for cartons of milk to make a cup of tea ( we had already procured teabags from the chambermaids trolley on the landing) these requests were ignored. The next morning I went to the Dining room and took a Jug of Milk back to our room to make a morning cup of Tea.We were unable to use the Bar due to the Wedding party. We decided not to risk a meal in the Dining room as the Hotel was obviously not able to cope. |

I didnt like the fact that when we checked in the staff advised that we were not able to dine in the hotel but that couldnt really be bothered offering a other option. Also the room in which we stayed in was loud from the staff talking ect outside out window. We also ordered a movie with reception which never arrived. |

Everything was wonderful, apart from being located next to the lift, which was noisy at various points. As above. Restaurant prices were too high. |

Staff are welcoming, polite and friendly - well done. Cuisine excellent, but more vegetarian options would enhance the menu. Our guests were very impressed with the whole dining experience - thanks. Room 37 - bath too small. Better design of bathroom would allow a more sensible size to be installed. Bedside lights were not good for reading in bed, they look beautiful but are impractical. Plasma screen too big for the roomsize. |

There was a wedding party at the Hotel which was loud unruly and totally spoilt the stay, this meant the main bar area was closed and we had to sit in only one area of the Hotel the drawing room where there was no staff present and therefore not satisfactory. |

I found the hotel relaxing ( not stuffy ) the staff very helpful and the pool /spa well equipted. The location ( once the long access road was navigated ) was typical of the bets parts of Yorkshire I thought our room was a bit tired and could have been cleaner |

This was the second time I have been to this hotel and the rooms and views are lovely. It has a nice country atmosphere and spa facilities are an added luxury. The breakfast is also worth staying for! The only disappointment was that when we arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and tried to book a table in the restaurant for the evening we were told they were fully booked. A corporate booking had taken most of the spaces. We were able to eat in the bar until 9pm but this was not the standard of food I had expected (don’t order the chicken & mushroom curry!). |

The rooms were excellently furnished with 42" TV's, the bed was very comfortable, use of gym and swimming pool. Breakfast service was excellent on the first morning, but on the 2nd morning they forgot our tea and toast and a lot of the orders were mixed up between the other tables. Also I sprayed deodrant in the bathroom and this set off the fire alarm, which had obviously happened before as the first question I was asked, was 'have you just sprayed perfume?', I will be staying here agin but taking roll... |

Lovely location and the building is very impressive. Bedroom was nicely kitted out, however poor view but very comfortable bed. This website failed to mention dinner would need to be booked previous to stay, spa was not amazing, lacked sauna and a few other accessories i have seen in other spa, such as ice cold water buckets. |
