Staff were very friendly, very good bedrooms and bathrooms, great value.
atmosphere, staff, bedroom grandeur
bed, building site, complete lack of any usable wifi and then silence in response to my follow-up email
Food:- excellent quality and value rooms:- bang up to date and very comfortable staff :- very friendly and helpful
Having to leave, would happily have stayed another night or two.
We stayed in a suite(one of us sleeps and one doesn't) which was huge and very comfortably furnished. The bathroom was large, very modern, stylish and practical. Staff very friendly and helpful. There were functions in the hotel but we weren't disturbed by any noise.

friendliness of staff and good choice of food and comfort of room
Everything. Hosts and staff exceptionally welcoming. Food excellent.
The size of the bedroom was great with easily moved easy chairs for watching television, The bathroom had a luxurious feel. The meals were very good and the staff were very friendly.
The location was a little too far from other amenities. There was no lounge in which to relax on comfortable chairs, settees etc. and enjoy a cup of tea, coffee or an alcoholic beverage before or after dinner.
Lovely friendly atmosphere. Quiet location. Great food. Very comfortable rooms.
Enjoyable weekend break.Made to feel very welcome, rooms very clean and comfortable.Good food and excellent breakfast.
The welcome. The breakfast. The room and facilities, although the bathroom was a bit quirky.
The external look of the place. The bed
One staff member in particular was very warm, relaxed and accommodating. Our bedroom was nicely decorated and the bathroom was large.
The wifi in the room had a very bad signal. Often it did not work at all on our devices. The food was quite average and the renovation and building work made the place feel uncomfortable and look, in parts, quite unpleasant.
Big comfortable room with lovely bathroom. Breakfast good. Staff excellent
very little, fruit at breakfast was very cold but we were quite early so just out of fridge.
large spacious room and nice breakfast
The room was exactly like the pictures. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. It had all the facilities listed and expected for a 4* hotel. There was a 21st birthday on in the function suite and apart from seeing the guests you could not tell, only directly outside the function room could you hear how loud the party really was! We were in the Suite and everything was as shown and described.
There is some unfinished building work on the site. Work was not in progress, so noise was not an issue, but it does spoil the look of the Hotel from the outside a little bit.
Being kept up until midnight whilst partying guests were allowed to smoke, scream, swear and shout outside our bedroom window for two hours!
Super value, very good rooms, staff very helpful & friendly
Menu a little dated, but food OK
Food. Bathrooms /room lovely. Staff friendly and helpful Setting lovely.
Very helpful staff and good home cooked food
Would have liked better wifi but this is not the fault of the hotel rather that of the geography.
We were glad to be able to take our dog into our room, which was large, quiet and comfortable. I slept very well. The staff were all pleasant, helpful and polite.
We had to leave our dog in the car while we ate in the bar (not the restaurant). The hotel could be better signed: we had to ask at a nearby petrol station. The room contained little information (was wifi included?)
Location of hotel, quality and decor of bedrooms.
Food menu too extensive. Quality of cooking not good. Food presentation not good. In general eating experience more akin to a cafe than a four star hotel.
We spent last weekend at this hotel to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary. There was 10 adults an 6 children. The rooms were delightful with lovely decor, especially the suite which we booked for our parents with a separate living room and four poster bed. Due to the size of our party we were given a dining room to ourselves for both evening meal and breakfast. Lauren and Alex looked after our every need and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and the bar prices average. Our weekend was everything we expected and more. We will cherish the memories for years to come. A huge thank you to Simon and all the staff.
There was nothing that spoilt our weekend although I can understand some guests would not like the unfinished extension.
The suite was comfortable with a good lounge suite. The bed was comfortable and the dinner lovely
Seems like the hotel should not be operating at the moment. Steel girders of a building site do not help any view. It was the next day before I realised the hot water in the basins were not broken but turned the wrong way. The shower head was very high and not able to be adjusted. Breakfast was very not good at all.
Rooms, food, staff
Comfortable beds, good sleep.
Don't be fooled by the Country House photo as it does not show the adjoining building site on one side and tired looking annexe on the other. The unimpressive Reception Area was unmanned on our arrival. The room had not been cleaned properly; there were sticky marks on the bedside table, the carpet was vacuumed around the furniture but not underneath, mugs on teatray were not clean. Lighting in the room was too dim to read by and there was no main ceiling light, only bedside lamps. We like to sleep with the window open but this was not possible as there were lots of flies coming in. The bathroom also had problems; the shower produced so much condensation and splashing that everything got soaked. There was no toilet roll holder so the loo paper was on a high shelf out of reach from the toilet. There was no bathmat which we had to request from reception. The breakfast was mediocre. Overall a very dissapointing stay!!!
Staff very friendly and helpful
Flies prevalent in the suite comong from domewhere in the eaves
